  1. Can we please give Jack Viney the credit that he so richly deserves? He is heart and soul, is at the bottom of every pack, throws his weight around, is a monster tackler, can extract the ball and get the clearances. Just pure guts and determination. His blind turn was just sublime. He was simply immense in this match and often flies under the Petracca/Oliver radar. We are so blessed to have him and this midfield surely is amongst one of the best in the modern era. We now just need to add some more silverware to the cabinet to ensure that their names are etched into immortality.

How confident are we that Clarry is right to go and/or that he will play this week? We all want him to play this week against the Pies but would he be playing this week against the Eagles?
  3. Selection Question: Is it time to roll the dice and give some of our young up and comers a shot? Howes? Woey? Seems we need an injection of some young blood.
  4. Fantastic podcast the last few weeks guys. Keep up the hard work. The effort is very much appreciated by this overseas fan. After watching every single game on the Watch AFL app I was fortunate enough to travel back home last week and got to see the Dees in person for the first time in nearly 4 years. A couple of things I noticed about our wingers. Hunter is very physical. A number of times when he was corralling a player who would then give off a handball he always made sure to give them a nice bump just to let them know he was there. I like this type of physicality. It's not thuggish and let's the opponent know psychologically that there are no cheap handballs. You have to earn it. Because I was sitting behind the goals I noticed that Ed Langdon would often be the extra player dropping back into defence and because of his pace and endurance would often get back there before some of the defences joining our sweeper (usually May) to set up before everyone got back making sure he could cover any errant opposition forward that got loose. I've seen both Hunter and Langdon get criticism this year for being off their games but I think we are playing our wingers differently this season now that we have two genuine wingman. Hunter playing offensively on his wing and Langers playing more defensively on his wing. What are the panel's thoughts?
  5. Brown and Spargo need to come in.

I wish you could mute the commentary and just listen to the sounds of the game/crowd. Fox commentary is terrible.
  7. How awful was the Fox commentary for this game. Outright barracking for the Suns to get over the line not to mention every suspect non-free for the Suns was dissected frame by frame multiple times but any non-free to the Dees was blatantly ignored.
  8. I think there is a feeling that we will just rock up and roll the Suns but I think this could be a danger game if we don't come switched on to play. The Suns have taken it right up to a few teams and have fallen away in the last quarter. Miller is a massive out for them but we should not take them too lightly. What do you guys think we need to do to bank the 4 points.
  9. Thank you guys for the podcast. It's a must listen every week. Love the analysis from all 3 hosts. You all have a different style, approach and opinion and your love of the game and the club shines through. You raise the bar each week in terms of quality and content. I really appreciate the effort you go to so thank you. How immense was JVR's last quarter. To be honest, at 3 quarter time I thought he would be heading back to Casey next week with only the 4 possessions to his name. But that last quarter. WOW. 4 kicks, 3 massive contested marks, 3 goals. All on the big stage. Imagine when he puts 4 quarters of that together. He is going to be huge. Love the podcast.

We are coming up against the Eagles this week who are riddled with injuries. Cripps (broken ankle), McGovern (Hamstring), Shuey (Hamstring), Witherden (Concussion), Ryan (Knee) could join Nic Nat (Ankle) & Yeo (Calf) on a star studded injury list. Are any of you worried about us taking this match lightly or is that ghosts of Demons past talking?
  11. Where have all the Ben Brown haters gone? It’s remarkable how much better he and the team look with TMac in the side as well as giving him some space and delivering to him better.
  12. Clearly the Gawn/Grundy pairing is working so far in particular with their forays up forward in both practice matches (3 goals between them in the Match sim and 6 goals between them in the Praccy Match). In addition having the presence of one of them a kick behind the play whilst the other one is resting forward is a bonus as it is a strong marking presence down the line if the opposition gets the ball out of our forward line. Demonland poster @old55 posted the following Hit Out statistics from this match in the Post Game thread and I thought that it would be interesting to hear @binman's take on this. Hitouts: Richmond 37 Melbourne 24 Nankervis 24, Soldo 13, Gawn 12, Grundy 11, TMac 1. Clearances: Richmond 33 Melbourne 32 Centre Clearances: Richmond 18 Melbourne 11 Stoppage Clearances: Richmond 15 Melbourne 21

What can we do about our forwardline issues in the off season? Is it time to bite the bullet and hire a full time forward coach who actually played in the forward line and understands forward craft and leading patterns?

Last time we played the Lions we chose no to tag Lachie Neale and instead put a bit of time into Zac Bailey. We know how that Neale gets a lot of the footy particularly in finals. Do you think we might spend a little bit of time on him?
  17. There was a question earlier about who takes Heeney. I'm interested in this one too but also who takes Papley. Both of them have the potential to break the game apart and we have struggled against Papley in the past. Absolutely love the podcast. Can't get enough. Keep up the good work.

I don't think that's in Max's character to say nothing. Max is going to say exactly what he said here. I don't think Max knows either way or anymore than we all know to be honest.
  20. Hey fellas. Greeting from Singapore. I want to add to the podcast love and say thank you for your thoughtful and considered analysis of the games. You see so much more from a tactical standpoint than I see with my kick the bloody thing mentality when it comes to watching footy games. I was rapt that Jayden Hunt was recalled to the team especially after his late season injury last year that effectively robbed him of a Premiership medal in my humble opinion. I reckon he adds that bit of pace that we lack off half back and though the wings and midfield. I think he's improved his delivery immensely from a few years back. Our back 6 or 7 this week seemed really settled this week and seem to be back firing on all cylinders. Hunt also provides some flexibility to the team because I reckon he can be swung forward in a pinch if we need to add some spark. Not suggesting he play forward as he is clearly in the side to be a defender and play that role. Just saying he has some more strings to the bow. Do you see a role for him in this side going into Finals?

If a small section of unrulies are drowning the cheersquad out this only further proves the OP's contention. I don't believe anyone is blaming the cheersquad for the loss or not appreciating the time and effort they put in. They are there every week through thick and thin. They volunteer their time and put in a lot off effort at home and interstate. That being said, they are pretty tame and have been shown up 2 weeks in a row by a smaller away crowd. It's not just the cheersquad that is tame it is the rest of the Dees fans in the stadium. Two interstate teams have been much louder that us. We all should be ashamed of ourselves. Again none of this is the reason we lost.
  22. Spot on analysis again guys. It's my go to Demons podcast each week. Living abroad and unable to get such indepth analysis of Dees matches except from clips here and there on social media I really rely heavily on your podcast to sort the wheat from the chaff. Thanks to all involved.

May I ask when and why you chose the Dees?
  24. Singa replied to ElDiablo14's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I used to really like the Brisbane Bears but strangely I hate the Brisbane Lions. I also used to like the Swans when they first moved to Sydney but not so much anymore. I just can't like any of the other Victorian teams and as i've travelled interstate over the years to other venues I began to hate interstate opposition fans and hence I started to hate the teams too.

I was pinning all my hopes on them as they were the least offensive options of the Prelims.
