i understand ANB is one of our fastest players, has the best endurance. has anyone seen any of that this year. All i saw was him running around in circles half chasing tiger players. he got a luck goal, because he was so far away from his player at the time who would if he had got the ball would have sent the tigers into attack. I do not see why this guy keeps getting games. he was dropped for a poor effort a couple of weeks ago and gets a recall based on what. .

And what's with his giant wide-open mouth when he stops running? Is he yawning?!

His play could put me to sleep.

  2. Hard to find winners, but Tmac and Hibbo did their jobs despite making plenty of mistakes.

I generally love Oliver, but he played poorly. Yes, plenty of possessions but fumbled, missed targets and ran lazily. I thought he looked injured, disinterested, or both. 106 "Fantasy Points"! The name says it all.

    So my votes are

    6 Gawn

    5 Melksham

    4 Tmac

    3 Hibbo

    2 Brayshaw

    1 Salem

Am I the only one totally unexcited to see old man Lewis back in the team? Too slow!

He might be a bit slow Sisso, but check out his numbers for last year:

Disposals 540 (4th for our team)

    Kicks 285 (3rd)

    Marks 115 (4th)

    Handballs 255 (4th)

    Uncontested possessions 349 (3rd)

    Intercept possessions 155 (1st)

Not bad for an old man.

Oscar is playing like rubbish no way to argue against that.  But he has the capacity and potential to play much better than he is at present.

Frosty was our best key backman last night and I do think he is doing his job.

Our defense as a team was atrocious again last night.  So many loose Essendon players that took easy marks and receives in defense, which wasn't Frosty's fault.  I do wonder if we should just keep it simple and go man on man.

Frost? He was terrible against the Bummers. No way he is doing his job. Gives away free kicks; gets out marked by smaller opponents. I had to avert my eyes every time he went near the ball. Oscar isn't much better but makes fewer mistakes.

Only twice in the last thirty years has the side that lost the first three games played finals.

Ominous record to break when we have such poor form and a long injury list that will not improve much in the next month. I looked at the fixture today and the only game I have any confidence we will win before the break is the GCS game. Start thinking 2010 for finals and hope like hell when we get those injured back    we can have a more pleasurable second half with a few wins.

I take it you mean "start thinking 2020".

Sure, but those of us who are old don't want to wait, even for a year. I have lost 4 family/friends Demon supporters in the last few years who died living in hope since 1964.

  6. So, is our game plan doomed? After three rounds, the two most "chaos" teams are... Melbourne 0-3; Richmond 1-2. Add Collingwood's semi chaos game plan... 1-2. Or is it more about last year's finalists struggling to find form early in the year?

So if we take LH's excellent post as a base 8 out of the 18 teams are playing controlled possession football whereas only three are playing the chaos brand.

Interesting and when people complain of bad delivery into the forward line that is what the chaos brand entails... just push it forward. Problem is that it just doesn't work if you don't have forward pressure..ergo the last two weeks

First, thanks LH for a great summary. And Diamond Jim, I agréé. We can drive it in 37, 73 or even 100 times. The number makes no difference if we turn it over and it exits straight away. Last year we (mostly) marked it or crumbed it. This year we just watch it sail back to where it came from.

No worries.  I couldn't remember his name when I wrote the original post, but do now - it was Viv Mitchie.

    Thanks. Yes, waste of space.

I never felt that Freo guy we picked up in Mark Neilds time was any chop - impressive numbers at VFL level, but always looked useless and never produced when he got an opertunity at in our senior side.

Sorry, Balls. Who was this? More clues, please.
