  1. Thsts not reflective of his accuracy ! many others are far worse.
  2. "Even though it was only a practice game " the following to me were apparent about Melbourne: 1. Hunter is a first class footballer smart clever persistent plays footy on his terms with composure and his stylish left foot. Seems a great team man and will have the all the members side of the ground to become a Dees fan favourite just like Lingers is on the outer Warne wing. An A grade addition providing valuable running and disposal depth plus scoring potential. 2. Grundy will also provide and bolster our ruck midfield and forward divisions. Is quick on his feet and is quite skilled on the ground. Contrary to perception he can mark down forward. I can only think he is not regarded as a competent resting ruck from his efforts because he has not been asked to play that role much or not at all. In essence he needs a top defender to be minded and providing our forward entries are consistent and quick he is a danger just like all our other talls mids and smalls who in their own right are from A graders to role players to multi skilled and different styles as 2021 proved. Also Brody will provide our defence with marking and blocking assistance. Another A grade team man who knows the game. And will give Maxy at least 2 years more footy in the red and blue. 3. Improvement in game style and form from Spargo Sparrow ANB and Promising effort from Chandler who moves well didn't take his opportunities on the day. McVee is an addition who again looked up to the speed and flow of our game and defensive style as did Woey in a shorter context. Laurie not so much but great for him have a run and knows what is required now to be in AFL contention. 4. Overall fitness looked great and ball movement and game style plan far superior to 2022 late season. All kicked in and it looked smooth and sharp. 5. From Casey Schache and JVR did no harm to their senior aspirations. Josh is a big sized player in the reserves and just needs some good footy basics and a few tricks plus his size to have a decent chance of being a contributor in the Firsts.when yhe time is required. JVR will debut at some round no doubt snd all Dees fans can't wait to see him get his opportunity. Let's hope he is ready and is not overawed that he can't show his ability on the big stage. 6. A very good preseason now for the real thing with Viney Fritta Salem Dunstan and a couple of others fitness to decide when their season will start and where. A List on song and very hungry looking super dangerous and determined to avenge our disappointing and underwhelming flag defence in 2022.
  3. Yes Rivs disposal can improve and I'm tipping this will come with greater responsibility in the middle and on the ball. One thing we can't disagree on really is his upside is limitless if given this opportunity.
  4. Good point Mon, no rushing him back straight into the Ones. A couple of Casey games to acclimatise back to that 2021 GF First Quarter form.
  5. His cameos in the midfield if ground breaking he will get about $100,000 per year more by seasons end as a star. He has enormous upside in the Yeo category if he succeeds . Tall quick big kick talented and team orientated don't underestimate him jumping into our top 10 if he gets enough time on the ball. He will end up a better player in the midfield than Harmesy Sparrow ANB, that notnunderestimating the above 3 who are all deserved AFL players in their own right albeit at different stages of their careers . All are great Clubman to boot.
  6. Hopefully no rushing injured stars back in 2023. Let's learn from 2022.
  7. Our last 4 crowds at the MCG were: Round 21 vs Pies 70,000 home Round 22 vs Blues 55,000 home Qualifying Final vs Swans 72,000 or 78, 000 not sure. Semi Final vs Lions 62,000 Hardly a drop off. !!! Yes if we played Pies Cats or Tigers would have been sellouts I suppose.
  8. Today 49,850!!! At midday
  9. Both underestimated perennially Salo was injured last year and returned too early to the AFL team.and never got a full go at fitness.
  10. Again I make the point which all the brain power in D/L fail to consider that Casey are not the same as Lions Tigers etc who are within that AFL Club wholly. Until The two groups get together and it is arranged that some one will organise that a report be placed or forwarded to us for placement on the MFC website it's not going to get any priority, Or a member of "Melb media" does it.
  11. Yes FTB really good point you make and I think our growth is a work in progress that will hopefully develop as we continue to have sustained success. Our current team has this season (practice matches only so far admittedly) proved to be playing a very watchable form of footy along with a sort of maturity involving the Clubs seriously good prime movers who have the opportunity to enhance our standing in the AFL as a force to be respected and feared on the field. Our membership base which is growing may realise this group is a potentially generational side who have a great opportunity to not only entertain but create a reputation as our greatest ( and only) modern team capable of forging some sort of success to recall the glory days of the 50's snd 60's. Lets hope for at least 50,000 plus on the 18th to open the season.
  12. Thats the way it should be. Its 2 years nearly since and some players looked much better with another season under their belts. Viz. ANB Spargo Rivers Bowey Sparrow. Plus the youngsters McVee Chandler especially plus Laurie, and it is Interesting that we won today by 50 points with these 3 players SOME D/LERS HAVE SAID WE COULD NOT WIN THE TWO FINALS if they replaced the injured/tired/banged up. Admittedly Grundy and Hunter made a real difference today and a fit Gawny Trac and Lever plus Tmac. We did not have Viney Fritta or Salem 3 A graders in our team today and were in the best half dozen in the GF in 2021.
  13. There is a difference as this is a Tiger team fully from their Club. We are in a different status and would need to at best negotiate such posts of matches that can be placed on our website. Their summary on the Casey site would surely be able to be posted on our website by them after the game I would think. It's important to this comment as it's not comparing apples with oranges in this issue.
  14. Whst are the signs that you believe are relevant? IRW
  15. Sorry Wod I won't go through looking I will be more patient and understanding with my responses in the future. Let's hope we have a great season and plenty of good posts from all D/Lers. Cheers
  16. Yes 50,000/60,000 plus as this is a real need for such a game. If we could get 20,000 Dogs fans we should break last years record. I think both teams are potentially 25% better and a real blockbuster with edge re Lachie Real Desire and two very good modern Footy teams aiming for the top with a rivalry developing as a strong lure for the punters.
  17. Angus is a one pace player but not quick or slow but gets totally involved IMO. He is one of our best Clubman also who deeply loves the Club.
  18. Tend to agree Tony let's wait and see though as the season progresses. Apologies Jordon
  19. Good points Red Fire Engine. Our list has improved 20% on 2022 with Lachie Brodie and player improvement from Spargo Bowey ANB Tracs kicking Sparrow Tmac back BBB needs watching and Riv and Kossies cameos are a real watch. and our footy looks more like back fo 2021 with a bit more flair. Also I think Chandler was good but kicked poor Harmes wasteful but he has toughness that is useful. A fit Lever is great to see and I think Clarry was very kick hungry today over handball. Kicks a long distance also. Gawny is more relaxed now with Brodie out on the ground. To say that either together won't improve our team is not a smart assessment of both these AA ruckmen. . McVee still promising but quiet and I thought Laurie was not poor either and Woey needs more run on time. And another 10% better being all fit no passengers. Plenty of others in the 30 plus challenging to play in the AFL on our list. Jordan Viney Fritta J.Smith JVR maybe Tommo will return to form and Dunstan is a handy midfield depth player. Let's not get too comfortable as once we do that we get bitten on our behinds.
  20. Thanks Rpfc It was a crazy comment about JVR and extraordinarily unlikely to happen. No point in agreeing to such an idea with very little truth in it. That's not the first crazy or ridiculous comment from Wod. I don't mind if another poster disagrees with me or has a go at my typing. We all have the Dees in our hearts to be posting.
  21. I understand but it will change hopefully that a greater % will actually attend our home games. Hopefully this year.
  22. You seem to forget that we ARE replacing players that were tired and not fit enough to play the game out anyway so JVR would have been able for say 3 quarters or 68% like Melky. JVR might have got through all match no one knows!
  23. Funny how they played well in the Finals and all season at Casey. They would not have stopped like our injured players were unfortunately forced to do in the second half with smart use of the players off the bench. Just agree to disagree !
  24. I am saying that some should have been selected during the last rounds in place of the injured. That would have given some a chance of refreshing. About 3/4 could have been selected including Bowey Dunstan JVR Chandler in the running. Please don't say we would have lost still as you don't know and can't say for certain. They were all fit and would have helped during the second half.
  25. Are you for real Wod? We only need one KPF or ruck or other forward to drop form or get an injury to give him a chance. There is no sense in him playing all year at Casey. He needs the challenge of AFL this year for sure. Your thinking is even more negative than Goody's about giving young Casey players a go in the AFL. JVR deserves to have this season a go in the AFL as you said he is young. He can debut and see if he is up to it and learn along the way.
