  1. JVR and Petts should be our twin tall combo moving forward and I'd be looking to pay them whatever it takes within our means to keep it that way.

I stand corrected, Pennant St! I lived in Leinster for a bit but being a coffee drinker didn't take much notice.

Justin Reid has now threatened to go on a hunger strike if we don't trade Harry Petty to the Crows.

Strange he'd nominate them without having a conversation first about whether they want / have space for him on their list.

Quality human being is our Benny and I'd love to see him have an injury free run in the final year of his contract.

In other news, how long is a piece of string?

Conor McKenna has just told Brisbane that he wants to go home again because the Guinness here doesn't taste the same (true) and the last food parcel from home went missing in transit so he's run out of Barry's Tea.

I’m always hearing on here that footballers (round ball) are all soft AF but try telling that to a Nigerian that’s plying his trade in Vladivostok or a Colombian playing in Helsinki. I wonder if these guys that run down their contracts because they miss their mum are the same ones you see on docos that are still being breastfed when they’re in primary school.

WC could do the same as when you're buying a house in Scotland and have sealed bids. Open them on draft night and the best bid wins.

I don't think I've come across any other professional sport where so many players are homesick for places that are an hour or so away by air or a few hours by road with exactly the same culture, food and language.

Lots of water to pass under the bridge on this one. Sydney convinced Papley to stay when it looked like he was on the way to Carlton.

Hi DJ. The ground is an hour by road from the centre of the city and judging by last years AFLW Grand Final holds around 8,000. It would be like us relocating to Casey if they decided to redevelop the G.
  13. Guinness on tap in the bar outside the Jim Stynes Room on Level 2 of the Olympic Stand.

Would he be worth a 1 or 2 year deal if in "a purely football act" his elbow were to somehow connect with the eye socket of Maynard the next time he lined up on him?

The guy deserves respect if only for punching Gary Rohan in the mush (allegedly) during the Queensland hub.
  16. Pretty sure she follows Essendon.
  17. The Gills? I never knew he played for the Pikey Army. I figured it had to have been a transfer between two LOI teams. People wear tracksuits to weddings and funerals in that part of west Kent (the term chav relates to the town of Chatham right next door) so they would hold a bit of currency there. Cascarino ended up having quite a good career although he didn't have any impact at Celtic. Probably as it was slap bang in the middle of our 9 in a Row years.
  18. PSV have always had a great scouting network and being owned by Philips used to trade for some of the best young overseas talent with electrical equipment and white goods. When the original Ronaldo ended up in Eindhoven (aka The City of Light) a set of floodlights went the other way to Brazilian side Cruzeiro. Your tracksuit story is better though.
  19. He's been seen checking out the facilities at both Bells Beach and URBNSURF.

Sweet Jesus. Might be easier to start a thread about who’s actually staying.

Agree with all that. At Docklands in particular they always seem to be laying new patches of turf. They did it along a whole wing at Optus recently too which looked awful. The centre wicket area of the Gabba has been an issue too as the head groundsman doesn't seem to give a [censored] about AFL footy. The AFLW Grand Final was actually moved to Metricon because it was so bad one year.

Hi Jaded. I'm of course speaking about why I like that we play in Hobart. I don't think Maxy was too complimentary of the surface in our last game but North play there four times a year and I can't recollect any major injuries they've suffered over that time so I'd put it down to coincidence. By way of comparison Rick Lever's ruptured ACL and T-Mac's Lisfranc were both done at Docklands. The exact same injuries as Tommo and Petts.

I might be in the minority but I'm hoping we play down in Hobart again as it's a great long weekend. The flight is less than an hour and there's no feral opposition fan base to contend with inside the ground, unlike SA and WA away.

Things could always be worse. Imagine living in a place where Celtic have won 10 of the last 11 league titles 😩
