    they really didn't

Funny trade looking back at it.

We sent out Pick 10, 2018 First Round and 2018 Fourth Round and in return we got Jake Lever, Pick 35 and 2018 Third Round Pick.

With Pick 35 we chose Harrison Petty.

IIRC Adelaide used those picks for Bryce Gibbs  which didn't exactly work wonders for them, whereas Petty/Lever helped us win a flag and now they're going to need to offer us some decent picks if they want to get Petty.

  2. Echo a lot of the thoughts here, hasn't really shown it at senior level yet and still some question marks about his best position.  Granted he hasn't had a consistent and solid run to show form, not sure he'll be getting that anytime soon. Has improved his engine but still uncertain on his weapons. At worst it is some versatile depth. Let's hope he proves the doubters wrong

One thing is for sure, he is going to be very sore and the pain management will be an issue for 6-8 weeks. Opposition are certainly going to target him when he does come back

Takes a brave opponent to target Steven May!

  4. I'm usually against key position players being subs as they don't give you a lot of flexibility if there is an injury.
This year however, I am slightly changing my tune. We're already quite flexible on field with running Salem/Pickett through the middle - Sparrow didn't attend a bounce last week. Billings can play a few different positions. Can throw Howes on a wing or Trac up forward etc. Petty would be a good sub as could cover either end (although i'm sure theyd want him up front) and they could bring him on so he doesn't need to play a full game. I know the last few games against the Hawks have been close but hopefully we can build a solid lead and make the sub (hopefully no injury and either a young fella needing a rest or managing BBB)

But they were pretty good i thought and would have been well in the match if not for their inaccuracy when they were on top (though we missed our fair share too). The margin was a bit flattering for us i thought.

Yeh definitely kicked away at the end, wondered how the game would have played out if they had kicked this. (Praise be to the duke).

Round 1 his 2nd game.  Good snapshot from the Age footy …

    Howes stands out for Demons

Lost in the wash of how bad the Demons were in Opening Round was the quality of the debut of Blake Howes for the Demons. He was even better on Sunday against the Dogs.

He is so clean with his ball use, particularly by foot. He was denied a brave and clever mark running back with the flight when Jake Lever pushed Cody Weightman under the ball, but he shows he has an aerial side to his game. He has composure with the ball and makes the right decisions.

Bound to pick up Rising Star nomination soon

But Fritsch did produce the Handball of the season to set up Trac for the sealer.

He has the odd very quiet game but could kick 6 this week

Much better handball than what Max did aha.

Fritta was quiet but still probably should have kicked 2 goals though

    Is there any footage available?

    See above ^

Earlier in the match May tackled Harmes and got in his face a little whilst he was on the ground.

Harmes probably wanted to stand his ground a little this time but overplayed his hand it seems.

Someone mentioned on Demonland that the increase in score reviews is being said to be related to advertising time. Well David King on SEN basically said the same. He has a suspicion that advertising is playing a part (as well as goal umpires seemingly being afraid to back themselves in)

I wonder if the memo to goal umpires has been something like: ‘if there’s even 0.0001% doubt, go to score review’

so many close games last season.

On the back of what happened to the Crows I expect we'll see plenty more reviews this year.

Advertising $ won't hurt 'em either

TMac played a solid game and is faster than Tomlinson and better at competing for the high ball.

I know Tomlinson always smashes the 2km time trial, would have thought he was faster than TMac? Unless TMac has a better initial burst of speed.

  11. Plenty to be happy about.

Billings addition looks like it’ll reap huge dividends.

BBB up and about was good, even if he’s just contesting marks. Got a few crumbed goals after his efforts. Hopefully the knee holds up and Petty gets going too - would reduce the amount of long bombs to Kozzy by himself - they must really want him to win mark of the year 🤣
