  1. Based on that - gone for 3 at least. I still think Kane’s intervention is a portent of grim tidings for Maynard.
  2. Hope the afl uses this as the basis of their case
  3. I want to believe, I do. But something seems amiss with us.
  4. I wish the board would issue a statement calling the obvious media bias into account then being very direct and forceful with the AFL regarding same. I still think Kane’s intervention is a grim portent for Maynard. If he gets off or a very light sentence, the AFL can appeal it, and we should insist we have input into that. I think everyone thinks we’re the good corporate citizen and have a soft underbelly. It’d be good to disabuse them of that perception I also tnink we need to seed some stories into the media widening the Overton window on this. “Melbourne insiders not authorised to speak on the record claim the club is looking for a 6 month suspension for Maynard given what looks like a deliberate attempt to hurt brayshaw. Etc etc”
  5. Top post. Super.

  7. Look I’d like to disagree but can’t. Remember the hits on Geelong in the 21 prelim? Where’s that nastiness? If by some miracle - and it will take some doing - we meet them, there should be a team mantra of taking him out, with a footy action.
  8. Use rivers in the middle more along with Pickett. Tomlo or Turner in to backfill? Langdon is very concerning. Same for Salem. spargo in for smart kicking into the 50? Or WW2?
  9. Another commenter here said to me that whilst the players love Goodwin they wouldn’t run through a wall for each other. He said Stinnear has that with the women’s team. It’s been like this with Melb for as long as I can remember. Where’s the buy in for each other? The brayshaw injury exemplifies this as noted by others above . It’s really odd.
  10. When I was playing under 16s as a 12yo undersized thing in the manangatang saints in the late 80s those Ouyen thugs (Demons colours) were knocking us out and that makes Maynard’s action actually really careful and showing ultra duty of care and then don’t forget we used to walk 10000km to school in the snow uphil and 200000km home also uphill with rocks coming downhill toward us before heading to the coal mines to work on the pyramids and we were lucky if we got fed once a year and ok boomer
  11. This would be laughable if not so seriously stupid. Are they seriously suggesting players can attack others and it is up to the victim to ensure they protect themselves at all times. Isn’t Dangerfield on the players union? I hope Laura Kane is on the phone to him and all media bosses demanding a cease and desist on the incredibly unhelpful commentary. If nothing else it harms their litigation - here you have the media basically victim blaming ?! Jesus wept the collingwood protection racket is worse the imagined a decent silk prosecuting Maynard would be loving this. The systemic bias against the victim is incredible especially in the context of a Collingwood protection racket - which is what it is This is a big test for kane
  12. Blessed day. This is the way - AFL has spoken.
  13. Misdirection/straw man. He wasn’t playing for us. I don’t feel sorry for him at all. Plays at the edge - live by the sword die by it. I would savour him missing a GF except I don’t want them to win it.
  14. if the afl is serious about concussion they will mount a very strong case including Maynard’s alleged comments to media outlining his intent to damage/cause hurt. That establishes motive/intent and removes any ambiguity about malice or lack thereof
  15. Club to read this and implement fix: Finals Fix: Manic Magpies expose Dees' massive flaw - but here's why they should have to win it all without Maynard
  16. I can live with it. Much preferred to have won Carlton port and GWS
  17. It’s the knock on effect. Melk crucial marks and taking quality back. JVR same plus clunking / halving contests. I’d suggest it’s a bigger impact than just the goals
  18. glad we cleared that up, and I note the point has additional specificity which wasn’t the original point. Some people don’t wish to be around the sort of nonsense we read about. That doesn’t make them soft.
  19. I think an interesting adjunct to this story is Christian’s position. If it’s true he was disinclined to refer Maynard to the tribunal, or had some difficulty coming to that decision - compelling Kane to step in -when taken alongside the broader context of the current litigation against the AFL, Christian’s position appears untenable. He’s either hopelessly conflicted, or hopelessly incompetent, because this is a prima facie case for a lengthy on the spot sanction. Either way, he must go. A legal, ethical and PR nightmare. It’ll be interesting to see what happens there. If I’m Kane, I’m removing him at season’s end and reviewing the MRO.
  20. Shots fired shots fired Collingwood key backman’s final campaign imperiled by cowardly act Mobilise all media resources - turn positive PR up to the max gus Is a bigger man than I.
  21. Good points, however - Maynard has form here and had other options and we know he had a duty of care. He’s a buffoon and if he wants play like he does, he has to wear the opprobrium. God imagine if this had been Greene on Daicos. The media would be baying for blood.
  22. What? After reading what the Pies fans were like, and seeing the first 1/4 effort , and what happened to Gus, people are deflated. You might not like it or agree with it but it doesn’t mean they’re not real supporters.
  23. How refreshing! Another record to add to our list that is unlikely to be beaten for…..ever
  24. The Carlton GWS Freo and Port losses - many of them replete with bad kicking at goal - start to become somewhat irksome, no? We need to focus on poise, composure and getting good looks. Also elite decision making and kicking.
  25. It’s a good point - but is it Goodwin’s fault or the match committee?
