Tracc, Oliver, Lindsay, Hore, Spargo, Lever, Sparrow, McDonald, Bowey, May, Chandler, Viney, Tholstrup, Melksham, Woewodin, Windsor, come to mind, as those I have seen go the "extra mile". Doesn’t mean the others don’t, just I haven't noticed.

Barely a MFC fan to be seen on this beautiful Sunday morning. The regulars, some passer-by's and dog walkers. Plenty of brown leaves on the surface, which are possibly a problem. The same system, soccer, and then 15 minutes of goal kicking. Williams in-charge of the kicking, shouted a few things, then sat back as they concentrated on their job. They were successful, getting a high percentage through. May was particularly invested, and straight. The vibe was cheerful, and they had a fair bit of enthusiasm and run when soccered. They also had a late start (possibly an hour later then the posted start time), presumably they talked about a reset for the season. What the aspirations and expectations may be, and how and what they will get out of the remaining games (purely speculative).

How can we not have any games in Melbourne for 34 days (5 weeks)? So much for H&A, being alternative games. From kings birthday, 9th June to 13th July, against North. I get plenty of time to recover from the effect of the Wooden fans.

I once met Jimmy Stynes in Leederville (WA) shopping area. He had a great game, and we beat them (Eagles). Love when the players are relaxed and going about normal activities prior to having adrenalin and effort in the game. Go Dees Go Kos

No, I haven't met the Bin.

Not sure about the idea that we are better off as a club. If we were, wouldn't we have been playing for the potential of being a finals contender. We are basically out, and the writing was on the wall very early, zero and five. Tracc has been good, but he wants to win trophies, he wants big crowds, our club doesn’t match his aspirations. He hasn't been holding us together, Max has. We are a fractured club. We signed up another big contract, which haven't served us well in the past. I hope that changes, but just can't see it.

The big contracts cannot be bought, unless the seller pays some of the cap.

The contracts have become meaningless. The small contracts can be bought and if we don't match them, chance they will go. The big contracts are problematic, others cannot afford to buy them, Tracc as an example, does he really want to play for us especially if we continue in this unsuccessful mode. The big contracts are usually back end loaded. As they age, and become good role players or retire injured, we are stuck with big cap fillers. I would rather us be like Geelong than Richmond, and hold the core together, with aging stars sacrificing some salary at the next contract negotiation, for a chance to take the lollies. I love the loyalty. The whole reset of the team doesn't seem to work well. Calling out for the lobotomiser's. Wish I was a group think.

I think the nature of us as humans, create an anxiety when the stratification is large. Look what happened to the Tigers when the chance of winning more medals was lost, and the salary was better elsewhere, no loyalty, many jumped. I would rather be competitive, with a chance of finals, than sitting down the bottom. That requires stability of players. If the players aren't rewarded they move. Good chance we may lose the middle, if as you say, we don't win. This year is shot, even with our big names. Some clubs will be after our up and coming players. Much will have to change if we are to stay a force. I believe we have missed our windows and large salaries and contracts only impact adversely.

Wasn't just talking about Kossie but those who want big money to stay. He would go if the money wasn't here but there, as anyone would in this day and age. The player's management make distance between the warm fuzzies of their clients, and reality. I believe big and long contracts are detrimental to the other players and our chance of on field success.

Does our society need more Brain Surgeons or GP's? Does the game flourish when a few take the majority of the pie? AFL requires a team to win, a happy team, working for each other. The greater the stratification the more likelihood of unrest, I reckon.

Kossie is definitely an entertainer. The club will make money on the merchandise from the number 36, the gate takings, and possibly the extra members (dependent upon success).

They are going to be lucky to make the finals. One loss out of the next ten and we miss. Just like the late 60's, 70's and early 80's. The comparison is to the other teams, and we get done by the underdog, cannot put away teams when we are favourites, lose the close ones and rarely thump a team. Other teams are passing us, in abilities and culture. Something is wrong, and paying big bucks to individuals doesn't seem to change that.

Not according to the media, disruptive to the club. If the Woods wanted to buy Traccs contract he was gone. Contracts are becoming meaningless except as a salary cap disadvantage, and causing a feeling of inequality and reducing ability to advance amongst other players Are we more settled in the board or CEO position this season. How was Roffey treated, is the hand over to Steve Smith going to go smoothly.

Phil Carmen, John Tilbrook, Karl Ditterich, Cromwell, Moore, Templeton, Nettlefold, Wilson, how many finals matches? Buying success. How many have jumped, Wells, Alves, many others because we don't get on field success.

But it is not working for us. We remain underachievers, we lack coherence, cannot attract free agency players to the MFC, have board troubles, players are arguing with each other, many selfish acts on the field, not enough sacrifice for the betterment of the team. Now less in the salary cap. Did you see Clarrys kicking last week? Did you see the disruption Tracc caused to the team? Kossie plays a selfish game, and can be inconsistent, though brilliant, I reckon. Can we build a team around him? Let's hope so. His management has got maximum from the cap. Has he sacrificed much? Does it encourage us to be a destination club. Will it help the other players be happier? Gee, he would want to have a good year next season, and drag us back into the top 8 if not top 4 of the comp. I think we have underachieved and have overly rewarded those doing that. We are going backwards.

Sorry Axis, you lost me when you started talking about Richmond players. How do I know were they stand as players within the pecking order, and the contracts they have. Also, I thought we were having a dialogue and that moved further from top players and bottom six. There is a stereotype out there, a cliche that got quoted to me from Collingwood supporter on the weekend. "Our bottom six better than your bottom six", and that is why we win. I have heard it before. Word of mouth rebuttal, I have no direct evidence. As for getting the best from that bottom six, I believe that the top players (if not excessively renumerated), make the bottom better, as they bring them into the game, and assist with the weaknesses. The lack of space in cap to deliver the middle players a better contract if earned, causes waves. The expectations of the top, who do not live up to it, leave a dissatisfaction.

Sure, if their heart is not with us, and the thing that holds them loyal is money, my belief is that they can go and someone else will take their place. If the big contract players were the answer to our woes, wouldn't we be doing well already? Poor distribution of the slice of pie, leads to dissatisfaction. Others may believe different to me, but we are an underachieving club, and there has been a poor culture for some time. With Kossie now on a big contract will we change and meet more of our potential? My guess is no.

Sure, I am coming with views and opinions based on my life's experience. To call them "Deep end", or "unrelated", is just personal attacks.

We all know that those from higher Ginis want to go to those with lower Ginis. Those who belong in higher Ginis are vulnerable to exploitation from those who are at the top within the Ginis.
