  1. sure - training down the house at Northern Adelaide on a Thursday evening under a spotlight on the side of the club house
  2. just in case your wondering what happened to Marlon Marlon Motlop is a Larrakian Australian rules footballer who played with the Port Adelaide Football Club in the AFL. He currently plays with North Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League.
  3. You sure The player affectionately known as ‘Skittles’ arrived at the Blues at the end of 2014, after being selected by Carlton with pick 28 in the National Draft. Although he is yet to debut in the senior side,
  4. For those out in Demonland who think trading Watts for a high 20's pick- here's some name for you. In the last 10 years the players that went at 28 and the games they played: 2007 Marlan Motlop - 0 2008 Shaun McKernon - 52 2009 Mitch Duncan - 159 2010 Ryan Lester - 102 2011 Fraser McInnes - 11 2012 Tim Obrien - 34 2013 Lewis Taylor - 85 2014 Dillon Viojo - Rainbow - 0 2015 Luke Partington - 6 Hardly a whos who of AFL Another interesting fact for those that think Watts was not a good get (i admit he went too high at no1). Of the top 20 draft picks in Jack's year he has played the 6th highest number of games. I am yet again in "the confusion room" Why trade a 150 game player with elite skills for a roll of the dice in the draft? What if we get a Marlan Motlop????
  5. You have to be kidding me? Coaches comment - Mark Neeld was probably the worst coach in the history of the MFC. Look at his record, probably set us back 5 years. Roos is on record as saying trading Watts is a mistake and got the best footy out of Jack. and Goodwin has thrown his hands up in the air and admitted he cant coach him. Head over the footy comment - not everybody is hardwired to do that. We need a mix of highly skilled and tuff inside players. There is not much point in extracting the ball in "the furnace" and then kicking or handballing directly to the opposition - did you see much of that last season ??
  6. understand- but it's a two-way street whenever a person leaves an organisation, even a footy club, there is a failure on both sides, The point I am trying to get across is that the manager/coach must bear some, part or all of the responsibility. To simply put all the blame on Jack Watts is naive.
  7. Here is the speech that should be made on Monday. Simon Goodwin "id like to apologise to the team, fans and to Jack Watts for my failure over the last few years as assistant coach and last year as senior coach to extract the performance from Jack that we all know he is capable of. Unlike how Harwick worked with Martin, and Thompson worked with Johnson etc, etc I decided to take the Howe/Buckley route and pass the problem player to another coach who can get the job done (Howe finished 4th in collingwoods B+F and nominated All Australian) I admit I don't know much about managing Millennials, they just don't respond the way my generation did"
  8. Well, 60's management thinking in 2017- good stuff. https://www.leadingteams.net.au try reading about the people responsible for the culture roadmap at MFC and then you can join the dots. Interesting that none of the Partners from Leading Teams ever played a game, like Buckingham they specialise in leadership skills and team development- except Buckingham is globally recognised
  9. Ok- motivating may have been the wrong word, substitute it for preparation. They had all week to prepare the players for the do or die match against Collingwood, and they could not get it done. I get the players are responsible for knowing their role and playing their role - and they messed it up. What if "their role" was wrong for that team (Collingwood) on that day (must make finals, no second chance)? The players were clearly not prepared properly- they lost! Perhaps the music track before the game should have been "we're all in this together" Maybe the coaches at MFC a few in this forum should read up on the latest in people management “Simply put, this is one insight we heard echoed by tens of thousands of great managers: People don't change that much.Don't waste time trying to put in what was left out.Try to draw out what was left in.That is hard enough.” ― Marcus Buckingham “In the minds of great managers, consistent poor performance is not primarily a matter of weakness, stupidity, disobedience, or disrespect. It is a matter of miscasting.” ― Marcus Buckingham Melbourne will be a lesser club because they coaches could not find the right role for Jack Watts - a 150 game player with elite football skills.......but then again, "i know nuthingg"
  10. Just like Jack, I'm moving on, as everything that can be said about this sorry affair has been said. My overall worry about the current coaching team is their failure to get the best out of Jack Watts last year, and the whole team in the two crucial matches that we needed to win to make the finals. They had a player (Watts) who finished 5th in last years B+F, and a team who beat Adelaide by 40+ at Adelaide, yet they could not motivate both for 120 minutes when a finals spot was within reach? Perhaps, the coaches need to do a bit of soul searching to find why they failed at the crucial hour. Sacking Watts is such a soft option.................but then again "I know nuuthhiinggg"
  11. I have two words to remind the coaches about the Watts trade - Jeremy Howe. Nominated in the all Australian squad and likely to pick up the Collingwood B&F. How come Buckley and Co can get this performance out of him and Goodwin and Co felt they needed to trade him? No one doubts Jacks talent. It's a coaches job to get the players to perform. Blaming the player is the softest option available. The coaching department seems incapable of getting the players to perform when it's most needed- witness the hopeless performances against Collingwood and Kangas- at the back end of the season to make the finals. My message to Simon Goodwin is do your job and get the best out of talented players. But then again........"i know nuthingggg"
