  1. Had some genuine concern for this game given we haven't played up there for a while and are missing some class in the backline, plus the Suns are alright. Very alright. It was a slog, but we get the 4 points. Let's get back and prepare for a big one v the Bombers. Bowey is super. Go Dees!
  2. Bowey has incredible composure. You almost bank every time that he'll get the job done.
  3. Hunt was a starting player in our pre-premiership side, but not today, unfortunately. He really sticks out. Very poor disposer of the ball. Bowey has been great back there.
  4. A lot of duplicate emails for some, but none for me :-( (18 years consecutive) I think for some/many of those years, certain years should be converted to 5. Or 10 more years (hello, Neeld 'era') because it certainly felt like 10 at times. It took some herculean type efforts to not obliterate the membership at times.
  5. WONDERFUL news! May it never be any day :-) (Nothing wrong with being a Demonland tragic - it's a family here (dysfunctional sometimes yeah, but in the best possible way). All the best, incredibly happy for you!
  6. If true, those grabs aren't good at all, and wouldn't be surprising coming from Morris, an undisputed dropkick. Hopefully, and rightly so, they should bring about his termination at Fox - if they have any intention in enforcing HR standards expected of employees, or just being good worldly citizens. It seems we're in win-win territory here: - Bevo gets a fine of some sort for his rant (Morris is a dropkick, but it doesn't mean he wasn't right - and was doing his job). Bevo has no right to silence/bully journalists doing their job, whether he likes what they're saying or not. If Morris had leaked something improper, then sure, but he didn't, he leaked a (correct) lineup change before the game. Happens all the time. - Morris has to find another job, and people know who he is now. As is noted above, his options are probably limited to Sky News. What a twist to this whole thing! And only 1 game has been played in Round one!
  7. I have been a doubter (and will likely reserve some doubt until there is sustained, consistent output), but I will say that I was quite impressed. Worked really hard and disposal was much better than we've seen at times. He's definitely talented, and admittedly has been cruelled by a bad run of injuries. With Petty, Rivers and Salem (hopefully only) out for a couple more weeks, it's definitely an opportunity for him to make a case for long-term selection, or at the very least, first drop for anyone else who gets injured. I'll be interested to see how he fares against a more potent forward line. But I'm definitely paying attention :-)
  8. I know it's not a litmus test of what's right (in fact, it's most likely the opposite), but the comments on social media posts for this story look to be overwhelmingly FOR Bevo's actions. Lots of 'Onya, Bevo!' and 'good on him for sticking it to gutter trash journalists', 'journalists have no integrity, it's about time someone called them out on it' etc. They're probably (hopefully) mostly Doggies or Doggie bots trying to swing the season their way (which appears to be working with free kicks, at least). * For the record, I occasionally trawl social media posts for lols, not for news/truth, and usually when on the can.
  9. Back at the top of the ladder where we belong!
  10. So have we beaten anyone yet? 🤔
  11. Considering our backline issues, patchy kicking and terrible umpiring, this is a really good win! How good is winning in Round 1? Big year ahead!
  12. Apparently you can spin around for a 1080 and not have to release the ball. Cool cool.
  13. Very annoying. Has a very annoying face.
  14. Bowey plays like a veteran of 10 years. Hope he's ok.
  15. Ripper. Let's bury em. Too late to win by 74??
  16. What a lazy, wasted kick by Bedford.
  17. And a Captain does what a Captain needs to do. Great goal. Needed.
  18. Tell you what, we're getting thumped in the frees count.
  19. I really, really, hate goals against us where we've wasted chances. We need to take our chances, can't give them any momentum.
  20. Wasting chances and some really bad umpiring. Bad combination.
  21. Such an uplifting listen. It's always great to get this sort of insight, especially from someone like Goody coaching from the ground. Observations: - I really liked Goody's "great to be alive" message at the start of Q3. Human. Brings the boys back down to the earth, where they had to inflict the damage - which they did. It's simple, but for me it really taps into the basics. Harnessing universal energy etc. - How calm was Goody throughout all of that?!? Especially during Q3. I'd have lost my shirt by then. Probably why I'm not coach. - I was reminded of how close we were to a 4th consecutive goal in that last stretch. Bont only JUST got enough of Trac, otherwise that was another goal for sure. I was already pumped for tonight, now even more so (hard to believe).
  22. hahah my memory of the shellacking we gave the Doggies is also similarly fresh.
  23. Can't believe we're back with pre-game threads!! Geez time has flown! Or has it been really slow? I can't tell anymore.
  24. This is not a campfire singalong. It's competitive sport! To think that these games are not played (and won) with a (healthy) amount of ego is absurd. As long as we combine ego/cocky with hard work (tick) and respect for our opponents (yep), we'll be just fine and win lots of flags, and all this noise about players being cocky will be just that - noise. But we won't be able to hear it, because the roar at the G following Gawn/Jacko - Jack - Clarry - Trac - Fritter/Jacko (etc.) link-up goals will be too loud. Wayyyy too loud.
