  1. im over it. this is our finals charge. and we should have been a top 4 team this year. not 8-12th
  2. its easy to defend im today's afl mate. theres 40 players in the 50m arcand plenty of help. holding hawkins goalless was more due to the game. i dont recall omac winning a lot of 1 on 1s in that game. 7 goals in today's game is probably equivalent to 10 goals about 10 years ago. id much prefer joel smith or frost. joel smith played really well yday. p.s. i don't care how big omac gets, he'll always be slow in the body and slow in the mind
  3. at some point you have to accept responsibility. if he kicks 14 goals, is that all the midfield? i'd prefer smith or frost every day of the week
  4. petracca has such a low footy iq..how do u decide to kick it long with the game in the balance...cost us the game
  5. with all due respect, we are clearly talking in football terms here. this loss is tragic, in a football sense. yes, there are things that put things in perspective. reality is, you've got fans that seem happy with effort and progress (i refer to them as the goodwins) and then you have fans that are just so sick and tired of being an average team. so tired of losing and never playing finals. So tired of the cliche 'come out next week with real determination' etc. i'm sick of copping stick from friends, colleagues and even family for years on end for following a below average team. All of this for a lot longer then most of the players would even understand, except for nathan jones. At the end of the day, a likely 9-11 finish would deem us as a below average footy team.
  6. agreed. it baffles me how players in this day and age dont understand how to manage the clock. to be honest, i come from a basketball background and anyone who understands that game knows that it is a sport that goes down to the split second. where players foul in an effort to stop the clock or even foul to deliberately send the other team to the free throw line in an attempt to get another offensive play. then you watch our game and you have a guy like garlett not getting the ball out of bounds and using his brain. what an idiot!
  7. far too soon to look to next week. stilk grieving over the loss and likely loss of a finals spot.
  8. this is NOT a group that is supposed to be livid about missing finals last year. Thats 16 premiership points we've pi$$ed against the wall. we're only as good as our bottom 3 players nd geez omac, tyson and Kennedy Harris were poor. Hogan needs to just start being strong and stop falling over at any gust of wind and petracca and garlett need to know about football iq
  9. bloody angry. i hate looking at the ladder we should be well entrenched in the top 4 but instead have lost 4 games by under a goal. im including the port game in that. the players need to understand momentum a lot more. chip the bloody footy around for 10 mins for all i care. just do whatever it bloody takes. i wanna play finals one day!!! fu#k im furious!!! I dont give a stuff about the rest of this season anymore. the port and stkilda losses was more than i could handle.
  10. This loss as well as the Port loss are reasons why we won't make finals. You just need to win them. Understand momentum. Take the sting out of the game well before the last 5 minutes. Do it at 8-9 minutes left. Understand momentum players, bloody frustrating.
  11. Same. That was really costly.
  12. might as well lost by 50. makes no difference. We need to just f##king win and get the job done. That's 12 premiership points we've [censored] against the wall.
  13. Dude, it's quite relevant. It helps you know where the current list is at. I feel that you were a Watts is going to make us pay sort of fan. It's not supposed to be a feel good story. But sometimes you need to sift through all the dribble on here where die hard fans talk about every player like they are the next brownlow medalist. At the end of the day, we lost to the saints a few weeks ago and at the end of each season we need to cut players that aren't up to the grade and pick up ones who we think are.
  14. Genuinely keen for peoples thoughts on the following players and why they didn't make it as AFL players. Often, as supporters we have rose-coloured goggles with regards to any players we pick up but I'm interested to know years later why the following didn't cut the grade whether it be due to injury or a specific part of their game such as competitiveness, kicking, decision-making, off-field stuff etc. A lot of these guys were high draft picks and their development (or lack of) really dictated where our club went for many many years. So what went wrong. Addam Maric: I thought he was going to be the small forward we needed at the time but never really fired a shot. Why? Tapscott: He was one of my favourite players at the time but only played 48 games. Injury? Speed? Bate: Right from his first game I always found his kicking to be awkward but everyone was saying he was our next Pavlich due to his size and playing in the midfield. What happened? Lack of skills, maybe speed? Strauss: Horrific leg injury amongst others. Elite kicking but never fired a shot at afl level. Competitiveness? Blease: had skills and pace to burn but also didn't get out of the gates. What was it? Lack of competitiveness? Cale Morton: Pick 4. Got it wrong. I think we tried to get fancy with this pick. He was just very weak in the contest I suppose. Gysberts: Always found the ball but then before I knew it, he was out of favour and out the door. Skills? Lucas Cook: God help us. Nice kick but was slow and looked asleep half of the time at vfl level or even vfl reserves level. Jack Grimes: Made it as a co-captain so this may be a tad harsh but what happened to him? His decision making was always a bit iffy and his kicking out of the backline was always quite costly but he tried hard and was a good overhead mark but he would have to almost be the record holder for the quickest captain to delisting time frame. Jimmy Toumpas: I was stoked when we got this guy at the draft. He had neat skills, a clever mover around the ground and a bit of personality about him. What was his downfall? Speed? Size? Competitiveness?
  15. We need a key defender. We can't rely on Oscar Mcdonald and Frost to keep us competitive when lever is out for a year. That means May or someone else but I think that will be high on the agenda. Otherwise, any outside mids with leg speed and accountability. That rules out Gaff.
  16. I'd much prefer to keep him but whatever happens happens. We've played good footy without him and we have Tom Mcdonald who is a better player in my opinion. Averages more goals per game and a far straighter kick. No player is bigger than the club so I feel more comfortable now about Hogan threatening to move back to Perth than ever before.
  17. well if you add up the melb games. gawn, hogan and oliver should all be in the 10-12 vote range which wont be close to mitchell
  18. everyone keeps talking about gawn for the brownlow but sorry folks he is only on about 12 votes according to my calculation, Hogan 11 and clarry 10. Mitchell will be streaking the field, excluding the suspended and injured Fyfe.
  19. Jones - Was quite quiet Hogan - presented and converted T.McDonald - could've kicked more Garlett - converted but quiet Neal-Bullen - a slight slump Spargo - a handy inclusion Hannan - often goes missing Lewis - great and terrible Melksham - important opening goal Oliver - showed kicking skills Petracca - working through slump Fritsch - 2 bad misses Vince - played his part Brayshaw - got brownlow votes Frost - size and speed Gawn - clearly surpassed grundy Harmes - why the haters? Hibberd - safe and important Jetta - battered and bruises Kennedy -Harris - great tackling display O.McDonald - always scares me Salem - elite foot skills
  20. Going to the game but not sure if its possible to walk away happy. A win doesnt help our chances of making finals because I can't see us beating any teams above us on the ladder. Another game against a bottom 8 team proves nothing and the loss to st.kilda still hurts.
  21. just when i thought last season would stop fans from getting ahead if themselves i come on demonland to hear posts about top 4, top 8 etc. bloody mind boggling stuff. i never expected us to make finals until we are in the finals.
  22. not gonna make the 8. you don't lose to stkilda and expect to make finals. And I think the efforts against hawks and collingwood prove that we're not skilful or defensive enough
  23. well my point is that it doesnt matter who we bring in. the defensive mindset falls to pieces against good teams. if we are talking about selection, frost has come in 4 weeks too late. his non selection last week cost us the 4 points against the saints where petty was completely out of his depth. i dont think there will be any changes other than joel smith maybe missing due to injury.
  24. have you not been watching any footy this year? we are good at beating the bad sides. (except for stkilda!) and got smashed against hawks, coll, richmond etc. tell me who you think we will beat in the run homem
  25. did the ladder predictor and had us finishing 9th on 12 wins. no way in hell are we beating Adelaide in adelaide, geelong in geelong or west coast in Perth on current form. that's allowing for a win against gws as well which is a 50/50. our season is over and there's no real gain from these wins against poor sides now.
