  1. I'm sorry for being 'negative'. Lose this and we're no chance of top 4
  2. FFS Melbourne.. 1 goal from 100 inside 50's. I'm so sick and tired of grinding out games. Get off to a [censored] good start for once in your lives. We're playing 10th spot against an interstate team. Switch the [censored] on!
  3. 2019/20 has no relevancy if you head into each season with an ignorance is bliss mindset. I prefer to look at the club with a wider sense.
  4. Well Nik Cox was horrendous tonight. Jackson will shorten after that.
  5. We didn't have May in 2018 so that shouldn't be included. Lever only played 3 less games than in 2018. Of the 12 games that Melksham played, we lost 9 of those games. Tom Mcdonald played almost every game up to Round 15. We were 5 wins, 10 losses in that time. So the damage was done at the start of the year when we lost 5 of the first 6 games. I asked for an explanation and I appreciate that but I really think the reasons we did poor in 2019 and 2020 are probably the same reasons and the injury free 2020 really proved that.
  6. All very fascinating. I think you'd find that if you brought in all of the supporters from all of the other teams and they heard half of the stuff demonlanders post on here that would be in even more disapproval than me. I may come across as negative but really I'm just neutral in the greater scheme of things. It's the complete biased nature of your typical forum supporter that skews your definition of negative and positive. We have been one of the worst teams of the last 25 years, I don't think there's a lot to be positive about until we show a system that can last year in year out. How could you possibly be confident heading into 2022 given we came 16th after a successful 2018 season despite having basically no injuries and basically no excuses for it? Please give me an analysis more than just 'natural progression'. Because there is simply no excuse for 2019 and 2020. We have very much the same list back then as we do now. Sure we have a couple of youngsters this year but they're only 2nd year players so it comes back to the core of our club. An inability to perform and back things up. The success we've had this year only proves just how bad we were the last 2 years and whilst most supporters will forget about it and ride the bumps of success, I'm keeping a balanced view on what is historical fact about this football club. I'd love peoples honest opinions on what they put down the last 2 years to. I'm also over the continual over hyping of our younger players. We have had far too many posters hype up juniors only for them to be fall short and be out of the system. There's about 20 past players that I could reel off without thinking that people made ridiculous projections about. But now that they're out of the system people are conveniently quiet and just focus on the next batch of draftees. Bate the next Pav, Tapscott our Hurn, Morton the modern day transition player, Wonaeamirri the next Cyril, Watts the next Roo, Maric our next sharpshooter, Jack Grimes a 300 game leader, Strauss elite foot skills to hit up Roo for 10 years, Gysberts our next clearance specialist, Blease our next Brent Harvey. Do I even mention Toumpas? Lucas cooke was just about the only first rounder people didn't project into the stratosphere. All I'm asking for is a bit of accountability.
  7. Yeah agree but he just doesn't have any power. No power in his tackles or ability to break from stoppages or acceleration. I think he really needs to work on that going into next year. The power in his first few steps. That's why I have Rivers ahead of him.
  8. Way to use things completely out of context. You should be a journalist. I was referring to not wanting to win because I believed that ultimate success would come sooner if Goodwin was gone and limping into finals would've glossed over the hard coaching review that was needed. Thankfully Goodwin has improved some of his work but I put a lot of it down to Williams and Yze.
  9. midfield/ruck. 0.6 goals as a forward. Jordon is a little bit run of the mill to me. But he can find the ball I give him that.
  10. it forms part of an analysis. And more of what most posters here have done. Other than having completely biased views where they talk about being flag contenders etc. I've already given my analysis, you may want to read above before posting.
  11. yeah 100% the most unfair system going around.
  12. in terms of who I love the most. I think I love Rivers the most. But our 2019 draftees need to be signed up and extended for as long as possible.
  13. How is it based on nothing? Since the start of the year we've lost to Adelaide and Collingwood. We play Geelong who were missing Rohan, Cameron and Dangerfield. I believe we have dropped off in form and believe the dogs have lifted so I don't think it's crazy to say that I put us down for a loss to the dogs. I assume we play WCE at Optus, which is an incredibly tough road trip. That's a likely loss. And lastly Port Adelaide who have beaten us the last 3 times. I also might add the last time we played at AO we had one of our worst losses for the year. So fair to assume that's a loss. And I'm giving us wins in the other 4 games. Just because you don't like the information, doesn't make it negative. Finishing 5th is still a good finish considering where we're coming from last year. Also, it doesn't bother me what other evidence says. I know more about the dees than most supporters. When we made the Prelim in 2018, everyone was talking about us making top 4 and all of that jazz because the 'evidence' suggested that natural improvement would get us there. And where did we come? 16th. So at the time I would've got shot down for saying 'lets not get ahead of ourselves' but I turned out to be correct. If you haven't noticed the MFC has let us down year in, year out for most of my lifetime. If we win a final, then I put it down as a successful season. All this talk, about flags etc. is way too premature.
  14. Wow, look at everyone get so defensive just because I have us going 4/4 with losses against very good teams. Just shows that you lot are equally as impartial in your own analysis. When we played Geelong for example, they had a lot of good players out.
  15. How is me being a supporter got to do with anything? Are you really that blinded that you can't have an unbiased view? That's embarrassing that you can't be impartial. I see us beating GWS, Hawthorn, Suns and Adelaide and losing to Port, WCE, Geelong, Dogs. I think that's reasonable given our form has dropped off a bit.
  16. it's called analysis. criticise me all you like but I've done 4 or 5 ladder predictors already. Have you guys? Probably not. Do a ladder predictor and then get back to me. I've been right on Jackson not being a forward wasn't I? When half of this forum was banging down the doors saying he was going to kick a bag soon and showing me comparisons of him with Josh Kennedy etc. Yeah, no. He's a great player, but he's not a fwd. This gives me at least 2 years of credit in the bank. Also the Kozzie form now is also what I saw in him last year. So it's all starting to even out now.
  17. I think we need to stop posting about Mac Andrew. We aren't getting him. So let's stop the torture.
  18. why? We won't finish top 4. If you look at the fixture closely it's pretty clear that we will finish 5th.
  19. I honestly think that we need to start specifically targeting guys that are straight kicks for goal. I'm not sure if we can carry Fritsch, Weideman, Pickett, Jackson and Gawn (when forward). All are pretty bad set shot kicks for goal. Ironically its Ben Browns best asset but he isn't in the 22 at the moment. I feel that we need someone who consolidates opportunities better. Like a Luke Breust type would be perfect in my opinion and I reckon the hawks would be open to trading him given the demographics of their list.
  20. You've got to be joking. Sure we've locked in finals but we are still a 50/50 of making top 4. I'm not sure if you've seen the draw but Port, Dogs, Brisbane and Geelong all have very easy draws and would be favourites to win most, if not all of their remaining games whereas I have us down for 4 wins/4 losses with losses against WCE, Dogs, Port and Geelong. Not to mention an inability to beat your Adelaides and Collingwoods of this league means every game is going to be tight.
  21. Yeah potentially I'm harsh on May. That goal where Hooker kicked almost turned the game on its head though. It was a clutch moment that sticks in my mind. Oliver I thought was poor all night. He found plenty of the ball but didn't do much with them. And he refused to take the first option and cost us maybe 2-3 goals based on his turnovers alone. I noticed it a lot tonight.
  22. Hey guys. Post game I have somewhat of a negative outlook based on what I've seen. Happy to be corrected on these points below: - A complete lack of ability to put teams away. Whenever we are around 4 goals up, 1 goal more and the game is done but no. Every time this season we have had chances to put teams out of reach but we continue to give opposition clubs chance after chance after chance. We froze in the last 15 minutes. - Goal kicking inaccuracy. Hopeless. Hopeless. Hopeless. Harmes, Fritsch, Jackson, the list goes on. If you can't kick straight you shouldn't be in the fwd line. Bottom line. - Forward line sync. It's round 15 and we still have no idea which fwd line works best. - Oliver's handballs and inability to take the first option and him either turning it over or caught with the ball did my head in ALL night.
  23. The Kozzie that's playing at the moment is why I didn't rate Kozzie before this year. Not doing basics well, going to ground easily, being a poor set shot for goal. All of these things are coming to light now. BUT we need him in the team for speed. He stays imo. I'm up for giving ben brown a go because we have been so wasteful in front of goal this year that we need someone who can kick straight.
  24. Petracca - important needed goals Salem - cool, calm, collected Gawn - Solid, no spectacular Langdon - 10 marks telling Oliver - Mr. turnover king Jordon - 2 important goals Brayshaw - Better by foot May - Good but slack (when Hooker marked) Harmes - 2 costly misses Hibberd - some costly fumbles. Hunt - took on game Viney - A welcome addition Lever - didn't drop marks McDonald - meh, just ok. Neal-Bullen- 1 costly fumble Rivers - important mark late Sparrow - Mr.Clutch baby Jackson - WTF was that (referring to the effort using his left) Fritsch - caught Weideman bug. Spargo - becoming fan favourite. Petty - honestly didn't notice. Pickett - mistake after mistake. (overrunning the ball late was very costly)
