Jeez dude, just watch the World Cup, or the golf, or re-runs of Midsomer Murders or something.

    Strange!

After last weeks dissappointment, hard to get enthused about sitting down to watch 2 and half hours of us beating up on an easy beat (Or choking against one) with their 2 best players missing at a ground with no atmosphere. Easy to fast forward through it in 15 minutes and get on with my day.

  2. I couldn't be bothered putting in any mental energy and watching the full game after last weeks deflating and draining effort, So I just avoided spoilers and fast forwarded the recorded game with my eye on the scoreboard changes to rewind and watch the goal.

So I have nothing to add.

If we easily dispose of the Dogs then ill barely be watching again. Not that interested. I just wish we could get on with the tough part of the schedule as I cant wait to see what we're made of against Geelong, Syd, WCE etc again.

really is a game of inches. Brazil could have won that 8-1 but lost.

France could not really get their game going but got the win. Good signs and are probably the tournament favourites now. Mind you being the favourite in this WC is not a good thing !!

Belgium were so fortunate to get that own goal, it really meant they could get fatigued and still concede without losing because up 1-0 and Brazil would've overrun them in ET after an equalizer  i feel

Just finished England game. Pretty dull. I suppose the excitement of seeing Germany fail gave birth to a boring QF

And it’s allowed them to build a game style that stands up. They’re a great cohesive football team. We can only dream we wind up as good as them one day.

They haven't reproduced it away from the MCG though, the big knock on them. Not that it matters as they're not moving from 1st or 2nd.

By the way would anyone like to comment on the penalty given to England against Colombia.

Not a soccer expert but it looked like the clumsiest act I have ever seen and so worth a penalty. My only question and I am not sure it is relevant to a penalty is that Kane did not seem to be in  a realistic spot to score.

The Colombians are still complaining backed by no one better than Diego "hand of God" Maradona.

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jul/05/colombia-dirtiest-team-ive-ever-played-against-john-stones

I think the objections are that Kane initiated first contact by rushing into him, the Colombian player did not need to ride him like a horse lol but there was a foul initially from Kane imo. But it's a pretty hard foul to call as everyone was doing that. I don't think it means Colombia would've won though, England probably would have stepped up a gear and scored anyway imo. England outplayed Colombia in the 2nd half of ET too i think, so it wasn't Colombia one way traffic.

I apologize in advance for mentioning this, but while I still think Weid will make it, it appears we have let a future champion in Curnow, who we were considering at the time, go, by selecting Weid. While Weid is still struggling to cement a place in the side, Curnow has better stats than Jono Brown at the same age and is being hailed as a future champion. Not sure how many champions we have and he was there for the taking.

Jesse, Tom and Charlie, a seriously good key forward trio.

Yes I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but just saying and I did apologize at the outset.

Were we into Curnow? His drink driving escapades sealed the deal on our No [censored] Policy implementation. Imagine if he turned into a Yarran or Jurrah right now. We're in a decent and conservative position now with Weeds development and did not need to take a massive 'culture' risk on a player with where we were at the time. I've been guilty of hindsight on Curnow v Weeds last year, but i'll trust the FD for this in the longrun.

Great another inside mid as if we don't have enough already. Tyson can't get a game and we want to bring in Hannebury bazaar move.

Are we deliberately trying to be the slowest team in the comp? It's Gaff or nothing for mine.

It would be more of a bazaar move to recruit شار حولي‎ (Bachar Houli)

Leaving the obvious important point about position aside - how many flags does he have? Maybe the club values his skills and especially big game finals experience or prepping for tilt at finals

Fair enough re experience. I just mean, we're chock full of inside mids, and i can't see him playing on the outside, whereas having Hannebury in there would free up Viney to play more on the outside, he has at least shown a blistering burst of speed.

Speaking of selection of players to travel to Darwin, I have heard that Demonland's very own cross dressing royalty will be in attendance at the game. Rumour has it he/she will be part of the half time entertainment, perhaps involving music and interpretive dance....

Gary Lyon doesn't post on demonland!

Well tonight , Sydney is 19 it was 25 there today.

As the exposed surface cools by radiating its heat, atmospheric moisture condenses at a rate greater than that at which it can evaporate, resulting in the formation of water droplets.

lived in Darwin for ten years and unless you have an evening breeze which in the dry season is rare the grass is  always greasy.

Gets Greasy at the Gabba too .

I'm glad it's not the wet season, i don't think i could handle watching us play in the bathwater for a second week in a row

Swans have got the good mcCartin. Only 18 but showing more than his big bro. Shows how much high draft picks are worth as he went in the 30’s

I dunno about that. We just played big brother into his best form, maybe he'll never stop and the Saints will end up on the same wins as us come round 23.

Playing like his mind is elsewhere . . .

I'm genuinely surprised he's only 27, seemed like a 31 year old player. Edit: Might just be that he's an inside mid that looks like he's played a taxing style for his entire career. I'd prefer Zak Jones over DanHan

    Not before my television.

The good thing about watching delayed/recorded telecasts is that you can fast forward through the stressful [censored] with an eye on the scoreboard to see if we bounce back (i didn't see much of the last qtr v stkilda) and can also log into demonland when the meltdown is 10 pages deep. You just have to unsubscribe to the demonland podcast becasey they may release an 'emergency crisis' podcast after a loss that spoils the result before you've seen it lol

no way the suns would do that deal SONS.

Would have to be Tyson, Frost and a 2nd or 3rd round pick i'd imagine? But maybe we're still raffling duds in their eyes. I think we'd then go in with MAY on the best forwards, OMAC on 2nd best and Lever on the third man like with Adelaides defence in 2017. And play Oscar in the VFL if no matchup. Lewis retires and makes way for Salem or sticks it out on rotation. Jetta on crumber. Hibberd and Hunt off half back. I like it.

    Leaderboard in the comp

2 points up for grabs for each winner in the next round (the quarter finals)

My tips - winners in dark italics ...

    Uruguay vs France

    Brazil vs Belgium

    Russia vs Croatia

    Sweden vs England

France v Brazil has to be the one true world cup final but a few days earlier. England and the rest after last nights match are no chance against them imo!

    Uruguay v France 0-1

    Brazil vs Belgium 2-1

    Russia vs Croatia 0-2

Sweden vs England 1-2 ET goal

I think Milkshake has been let off lightly on this forum. I think he has been imbibing the bath water since that article labelling him the best forward in the comp. His form slump has been a significant contributor to our recent woes.

That article failed to mention he had the best winning ratio in the comp from just 13 one on one contests. Or maybe it did down the bottom, it was just heavily outweighed by the hyperbolic 'Forward line King' headline lol

been saying this for years yet people don't listen.

And If you go and take a look at the Draft/Trade forum threads for outside mids to recruit, the usual crew jump in with "He's too soft", "Butchers the footy", "Look at his low contested ball winning ratio to uncontested" 'or "Goodwin doesnt recruit the type of player that doesn't know how to win his own footy"

If the club was hell-bent on paying superannuation 18 months ago, invest in a Boomer Harvey, who would have taken a 2 year deal, instead of treacle Lewis on a 3 year deal.  Would have added to us, and might have been the difference in 2017 and 2018.

We should've just kept Aaron Davey on the list from 2013-2018. He's still 5 years younger than Boomer and probably faster than our current outside mids! ? A shame he played in-between our most successful team of modern era and our current one..
