No John we just lost the crucial match

V Collingwood was a must win if we wanted to figure in September

Even more disappointing we lost 10% in the bargain

    Won't get a better chance

15/7 to me is wildly optimistic 13/9  miss out on percentage

    Losses PA and GWS

Going by your ladder, you think two wins over Freo and WB is wildly optimistic to go from 13/7 to 15/7? Those two games are already penciled as far as I and most fans are now concerned based on the last 7 weeks as evidence. It's the Port, Adel & GWS clashes that I think will determine if we make the 8. Geel/WCE/SYD you'd have to have down as losses, but even if we still lose to one of Port/Adel/GWS, we can win one back against the odds like in Geelong or come out and systematically shut down the Sydney game plan at the G (And take out Buddy behind the play)

  2. 1.West Coast 19 3 0 130.6%
    2. Richmond 18 4 0 140.0%
    3. Sydney 17 5 0 124.5%
    4. Geelong 16 6 0 132.5%
    5. Collingwood 16 6 0 116.7%
    6. Melbourne 15 7 0 129.3%
    7. Port Adelaide 15 7 0 122.9%
    8. North Melbourne 14 8 0 123.8%
    9. Hawthorn 14 8 0 109.5%
    10. GWS 11 10 1 107.2%
    11. Adelaide 9 13 0 96.5%

I'm being overly optimistic but I think we can win against Port, Adelaide & GWS, and win the other expected games. We may drop one and go 6/4 and end up 8th or 9th. Match vs Port is crucial. Geel, WCE & Sydney should be the only games we're just not good enough to win, and even if we snag one, cant possibly add a W in terms of ladder probability. If GWS turn it on, this ladder will look a little different. should probably give it another go.

Oskar Baker is not really ready for a call up, in my opinion. However, like Jayden, he does have a good turn of speed.

None of the regular vfl reports suggested Spargo was ready either, "hasn't earn't a call up" upon suggestion to the DL podcasters - Might be a similar situation with Baker. Perhaps he has different boxes to tick than the others, and perhaps an early taste of footy for development combined with an actual team balance need might edge him over the team selection line, though it will be harsh on Stretch. But perhaps that's just a team balance call Goody may have to make?

I saw a whole pile of empty brown paper bags in the rubbish bins of the Umpire's change rooms. One for each qtr apparently.

Glad in many ways the pies "cheated" this game in. This is not the Last Game and they are the team to beat, no pressure..........

On the contrary, i thought we were only in it at quarter time due to some lucky free kicks.

  5. I did notice him quite upset with himself when he missed the shots on the footy show. Not a big deal, but did remind me of how young he is. Reminded me of the Hogan from two years back, losing confidence and getting down on himself. A bit harder to see it on game day compared with Hoges though

This is an odd discussion. What do we do with a player who hasn't played a game yet three years from now if he can't break in for a game due to our all-star line-up? Lever just went down with an ACL. Our most important forward is now Tmac. [censored] happens.

Re-edit apologies: Wanted to completely re-write a response:

Can't hurt to both have depth and also trade currency. I doubt our 22 will be unchanged though, and plenty of opportunies will be available. I also think that a player that's good enough to play in a senior team littered with AA players, will have room made for them as we adjust to create a dynamic where they fit in. Even if sporadically, they'll be given game time to hone their craft before they're into the team for the next generation in 3 or 4 years time. Brendan Whitecross over at Hawthorn comes to memory, gets an opportunity after some years. Suckling left Hawthorn for a better pay deal, so another player takes his spot.

Another odd discussion is how will Goodwin seek to challenge himself and the team, and challenge the competition, after we win a premiership, assuming we do. How will we change the dynamic and test some new ideas? Give new players a go and plan for the future etc.

    Number 1! Neville Jetta... Surely!

King of the one-on-ones is Nev!

If he's King then i'd love to see training footage of him on Melksham, who is also the one on one king of the AFL! (From an admittedly small sample size of games)

Surprising, Oscar should be well up there, has hardly been beaten all year. Starting to think all these stats CD are pumping are are complete junk.

I don't really understand the point of including 2017. Why not include 2016 or go back as far as 2012 so we can make it even less relevant to this years in form players?

I was at that game, and I still can't even believe a smother caused that kind of injury. It was crazy.

Some smothers are basically identical to the sliding in for the ball and hitting a players legs that was outlawed, so it will probably be outlawed at some point as players are told to do it by keeping their feet or do it and avoid hitting a players legs. I'm surprised that we haven't had the conversation over a correct and incorrect smother yet. Will probably be banned if it happened to Cotchin or Dangerfield and they broke a leg nowadays imo.

    - Cam Pederson looked in ripping touch. Beat TMac at least three times in some one on one drills. Looks a lock for Monday.

Beating one of the best contested marking forwards currently in the league? Now i'm even more confused about which end of the ground Pedo could play in!  Obviously Smith will be in defence, but Pedo might be more than capable of being a CHB by necessity at some point this year.

Streaming is the future and in many respects, the current. FOXTEL will be dead within a decade. It may exist as a streaming service only.

You say that like the LNP didn't just prevent most parts of Australia from connecting their home to a fibre network and making it vastly expensive for a future encumbent to replace all of the fibre to the node copper networks that have everybody complaining that their nbn connection is currently worse than adsl.

It will be interesting. I think players like garlett and bugg will be lucky to get back in.

While I like them both, with the state of the team, they are depth players. Unfortunately for them, I reckon that they are both only one injury away from being delisted or traded at the end of the year.

So we've got two differing opinions here. Very interesting times ahead on the small forward front and what we do in trade week too. Who is selected this week may be a sign of who's out the door. Bugg or Garlett? Who has currency to get a pick for a package deal? Age vs potential. Or will we be hesitant on them with Kent & VDB sustaining persistent injuries? Will Kent & Garlett be given games to prove their worth for next year?

If Kent comes back, does he overtake Garlett and Bugg for selection?

Hannan in doubt according to 7 news, went for scans after training, might give Garlett a call up if he misses

Well if he doesn't get the call up in favor of Bugg, his papers might be stamped like Watts? I'd hope he at least has one more stint if that was the case. I'm not sure if i'm overreacting here, but it wouldn't surprise.

Just read on Collingwood BF, the game on Queens Birthday is all about celebrating one of Melbourne's former great players.

Alright, i'Ve got a fairly high tolerance for reading BS, but this takes the biscuit.

I can't go on reading Collingwood BF anymore. These fools are tragically uninformed. They really are swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool. I think most would have a good future as lab rats but that would force honest, decent rats out of the work force.

There is only so much ill informed nonsense you can read. I know. I've been reading posts on demonland for the best part of 5 years.

BF Mods deleted my post, I don't usually get into internet fights, but a worthwhile cause this was:

"It's a day built around raising funds to fight a disease that a former melbourne COACH and Essendon player has. QB Had nothing to do with him or [any particular melbourne player] prior to his contracting the disease. How old are you? 13? What a scumbag thing to say.

And if you want to talk about free kicks, take a look at the free kick differential for 2018 as of round 9. https://www.triplem.com.au/sport/afl/news/afl-free-kick-differential-ladder-round-9-2018 You're being gifted the most free kicks. Can hear the umpires from here: "We must have a club that gets the biggest ratings and crowds in the top 8 so we meet Gilly's quota!!""

Ok, enough drama for one day.
