On pilgrimage to the local Kali temple to do puja for a Demon premiership?

Tom McDonald - Ready to Re-sign?
deelete my account replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm waiting for proof. Do we know if old McDonald has bought a farm in the Geelong region? -
I concur with the field adjustment size. But as it's not feasible, perhaps they need an extra 2 on the field.

The Ox and Marko sacked by SEN
deelete my account replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I listen to SEN podcasts from time to time without ads, so much more enjoyable than tuning the dial. If you had the mobile data or work connection, you could easily load up all SEN shows and listen to them within the one day, you'd just be listening with a 2 or 3 hour delay, or however long they take to upload each show. -
Anyone else feeling sick in the guts

We'll all do a 180 on the "we dont need a big fish" talk. I think we'll be trading quite a few players to make cap room for a massive offer to Sloane or another player, if this group cant deliver finals. -
Gold Coast propped up by AFL

Wish we could skip all of this and get straight to the Tassie footy side~! -
Gold Coast propped up by AFL

I'd be more concerned that GCS will exploit the Tom Lynch marquee player additional outside cap money like Brisbane and Sydney did with COLA than any off-field propping up -

As good as a drought breaking premiership is, what next for these teams? One and they're done? Screw that, I don't envy Footscray, look at them now! The more these drought breaking teams rise and fall, the more confident i am that when we finally break the drought, it won't feel like that big a surprise and we'll be the ones that have built a solid foundation that holds us in good stead because of the last 5 (or 50) years of toil. We'll be fighting for premierships over the next five years and beyond unlike any teams from that list above. Our list is starting to look more like Geelong of 2004-2007, than any of the last two years teams progressions, so no envy here! -
The scary bearded bald man role ? McVeigh does have 4cm and some flexibility on him, so he can play on a 3rd tall as well as small. I think Jones has more of a scent for kicking a goal when its needed. 20 goals as a hf would be a valuable contribution in a year. And he has the fierceness to corral defenders and tackle them with force if we're aiming to be the best team for pressure again like we were until mid season last year.

Current TAB odds Demons season 2018.
deelete my account replied to maximum bob's topic in Melbourne Demons
And all of the top of the ladder interstate teams of recent years have capitulated dramatically when it came to the MCG grand final. Much easier for them to dominate their home games all year and then put in a half hearted 50/50 effort away and still finish on top or close to it. If we're 13/1 to win the GF, then 15/1 is too short for top of the ladder. Should be far bigger odds. -
Why build new facilities when we can conquer punt road oval in 9 months time?

We're being monstered? So monster them back. I think we also have to take into account the forward line as a defensive measure, we now have TMac & Hogan forward with Pedo or Gawn popping up fwd. And all of them can drop back into defence. We should monster a few (most) teams and out-shoot (net benefit) whatever defensive weaknesses we have that are being exploited. Judging by last year, Goodie has this mindset, but didnt have the cattle.

Whether we're past going for a big fish depends on how well we do this year. Tyson, Brayshaw, Salem etc. Plenty of players could be on the chopping block to make cap space for our homegrown & a big fish if available, if we are still around the 7-10 mark and have a weak final (if we make finals) - Optimistic we'll exceed 7th and will not need to chase Sloane. Luke Dalhouse is a free agent this year, perhaps we'll be more in need of the cream on top of the cake type player.

How do we combat zone footy? Have Hogan/TMAC/Gawn this year making more of an impact with the pack/leading mark on the wing? -

Footyology with him and Mark Fine was a pretty good ch31/youtube series in 2016, Finey balances well with Connoly, and prevents it from turning into what usually occurs on radio, Connoly getting into arguments with everyone. Hope they bring it back -

AFLX is coming (the X makes it sound cool)

So AFLXXII is double Xtreme! -
If Jack Viney could get an uninterupted injury free year and replicate the kind of form he had against WCE more often, then his "Breakout" year could be a year that has him in the top running for a Brownlow and as well regarded league wide for his consistency and application as a player like Joel Selwood. If he does then it will certainly indicate we'll be in September. So Jack Viney for me.
