What do we think about oliver and the fan having words, 7 news just reported that Carlton fan told them oliver threatened him, dees are saying oliver gave as good as he got, im sure the media will ride this for a few days

    WHAT EVER

  2. Wagner is carving it up today.  Two goals and every time Harmes gets it, mooron channel 7 callers say it's Wagner, so he has about 30 possessions at three quarter time.  Wags is doing OK in his own right in my view BTW.

Eventually the question is gonna need to be asked about whether T Mac just stays forward now. He's killing it.

I bet Jessy Hogan is envious of his ability to win free kicks.  Turning the tables on that from his time in defense and playing smart.

Joel Smith looks really under done

I like the kid, but so far I have to agree.  Makes you wonder if JFK and Kennedy did something really wrong beyond what Kent did.  I've thought Kent has been ok, but was very supprised Kenedy didn't get the nod.

...let's see what Smithy can do in the second half.

    - what is a 'mystery ball' exactly?

We need Tom Bugg's toughness at the player with the ball (or near the ball). But no punching! His next punch will be his last as an AFL player.

I'm sick of the physically week team we produced prior to the Roos tenure ie/ the bruise free stuff. We need a couple of great taggers that do a job but also can play with skill when it's their turn.

Buggie should spend the time practicing his deficient skills (like set shots at goal).

Plus he's a great Gembrook lad.

    Agree 100%

Other than goal kicking and general fitness conditioning work, he should learn Judo or something similar, such that he can exert a good, agressive physical presence and dominance in a way that isn't going to get him suspended.

Goal kicking technique and routine should be top of his list, how much more valuable would he have been to the team over the past few months if he had of kicked staight.

  7. I have no idea how we are favorites with the bookies (can't be a good sign on past history, but I hope we are beyond that).

Not writing us off by any means as I think the team has generally found some maturity, consistency and beleif this year, but if we win, it will be a victory of system over talent and ability, which is kind of tough to be saying against Calscum.  To be down those two or three key players out of our engine room will make things very tough.  If we can't do a good shutdown job on Crisps, I think we are stuffed and he could tare us a new one.  In my view, we are probably down to only Oliver as being an in form and established mid in his second year of footy.  Lewis and Vince can play valuable roles, but my suspicion is that their bodies are not upto bearing the lion's share of the load in the guts anymore - they need support from our up and comming, developing players like Harmes, ANB, Stretch and Hannan.  Huge opportunity for Melksham to prove his worth to the side.

Not sure that Max will have an easy task against Krusier either.

I have full confidence in our forwards and backs to play their part and probably even dominate their opponents, but generally games are won in the midfield and that's the area we are most venerable right now.

They will be in Tasmania soon

2 different AFL People told me that in the last 24 Hours

    HQ want them down there

interesting to see when this happens...

Would prefer GWS to be relocated down there and completly rebranded.  They could loose some of their excessive player bounty too and it would be a good result for the competition and football all around ...Won't happen tough - $$$$$$ wins the day.

I can't really argue that, and I did say my theory was rather simplistic, but I still think it's relevant.  North is North and they don't sell papers.  Even with a rebuild they have lost 20 of their last 24 games and that's pretty poor by anybodies standards.

But, as you say, because they have gone with the rebuild they tend to be given a little more leeway with how they are going.  But if you were a North fan you would be questioning whether Brad Scott is the right man for the job.

I agree and their list manager/recruiting.  Their previous tilt at opening a preimership window was a flop, similar to Carlscums and Essendrugs.

It sounds a little simplistic in terms of an explanation, but it could come down to something as simple as the club being one of the most irrelevant in the competition.  They could go with these stories, but, who really cares?  To me they have the most apathetic supporter base and people might raise an eyebrow at those stats but nothing more.

Collingwood, on the other hand... it would be all over the back page.

Because North made finals for at least the past two years and Collingwood haven't for five is one of the reasons why North and Scott arn't copping the same attention as Bucks and the Pies.  It's also I think acknowledged that North are now in somewhat of a rebuild stage, so I think there is some grace being given for that too.

The fact that North needed this rebuild is the thing which should be more heavily scrutinized.  For the preceeding four or so years, they were touted as a side that had talent, was on the rise and about to crack open the field and be a serious premiership contender.  In reality, I think they hardly even got close and were a fairly mediocre side that never made it.  That to me would be almost as disappointing as the 10 years we have had at the MFC and I really do hope that the mantra of Roos and Goodwin that we are building a team that is capable of seriously challenging and a game style that stands up in finals eventuates.

  11. An interesting stat I just realised, that at 4,628 members, Demonland on face value, nominally represents a little over 10% of MFC membership.

Couple of things to take away from this:

    1.  The MFC should take fare notice of the views on here as reasonably statistically significant representation of club/supporter membership;

    2.  If there are any non MFC members within that 4,628, get on board and help take us beyond 42,000 heading towards 45,000 MFC members.
