If that's how they judge those incidents, great, I actually like it, but what about people getting fines/ suspensions all year for the same thing. And let's remember even a fine would have tipped him over the edge. MRP making it up on the run again.
-
And did that explain the GWS song kicking in for a few seconds before Richmond's? Not sure if others noticed that?

Anyone trying to blame Adelaide for us not playing finals is just embarrassing themselves.

2017 Player Reviews: # 13 Clayton Oliver
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't really buy the needs to kick more thing, sort of anyway. He is an inside beast, ripping balls out of packs and dishing them out. Sure, there were a few he probably could have kicked. If he starts getting a bit more cheap ball on the outside, not only would he naturally have more kicks, he would be just about the best mid going around within a few years. -
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Forest Demon replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
All things being equal, Lever for Petracca would be roughly about right. But, unfortunately for Adelaide, when a player is out of contract and wants out, and if he does happen to nominate us as the club he wants to go to, then you are always going to get the rough end of it. Happens every single year, and what other option do they have than to accept? Let him walk for nothing into the draft? We will give them some decent picks, or a decent pick and an ok player, but it would be foolish to even think about offering up any of our best young talent. -
That deal is a shocker for us. Absolutely no chance.

It's funny, when Melbourne were still in the hunt I was all over any piece of footy news as soon as it came out. But since I have dropped off big time, and did not even see that. Oh well, if not Whitfield, then Gaff maybe? Any other quality A/B grade outside mids available?
-
I really want an outside mid, and although I have never been 100% sold on Gaff, he is definitely the sort of player we need. Whitfield is the other one who would slot in nicely who is somewhat attainable. Anyone who watches Gaff more care to comment on his kicking? I know Whitfield barely misses a target, so wanting someone similar.

Fail - got suspended for the early part of the season, when we dropped games we should have won Pass - was one of the few who stood up in the run in home when we had it all to play for I still think it is either Vince OR Lewis in 2018, not both, and I would prefer Lewis based on 2017 form, but still not completely sold on him.

If we could poach one GWS Midfielder...
Forest Demon replied to RalphiusMaximus's topic in Melbourne Demons
Kelly suits our needs most, but Coniglio does it all. One of best all round mids in the game. -
Saw the news story on these two, and it was really touching. Little legends the both of them.

The thing that frustrates me the most about Trengove's situation, is that his foot injury was clearly mismanaged from the outset. The year leading up to it being diagnosed, he noticably slowed down and if you actually went back through the Demonland archives, there was a lot of chat that he had to be carrying a foot or similar injury, but he slugged through most of the season which surely can't have been good. And when you are a 21-22 year old captain, perhaps there was added pressure to stay on the park.

An outside mid and a key back are the well documented needs, but I was thinking about this one the other day. We need some more pace to lock the ball inside 50. The job some of those little no names are doing at Richmond can't be underestimated. We chopped and changed small/mid forwards every single week this year, so it doesn't shock me that the club think this is a need.
-
Like many others, started the season well, got injured, and couldn't quite get back to his best. His disposal noticeably dropped off the last month as well, which is an area I generally think he has improved tenfold, and sometimes gets unfairly targeted for.

I rated his pre-injury form higher than most, and thought he was really influential. Like Watts, he just never got going at all after his injury. I would have to mark his season as a disappointment for that reason. We need him up and firing consistently, especially at this stage of his career. -
They armed him with the "lineal improvement" stat. All that shows to me what a slow burn it has been. 4 years of "lineal improvement" and still out of finals,

Has anyone confirmed if the 10th club, assuming it is the doggies, had these sent to their members? -
Melbourne's Communication and Online
Forest Demon replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have never once thought to write an email, or have a whinge on Facebook, to the club, ever. That was until this morning when I fished that little finals brochure out of my mailbox. I honestly can't believe the club could be so bloody stupid. My biggest concern about the team, for years now, has been how they seem to get ahead of themselves after good wins and good form, and ultimately underestimate lower teams and succumb to unlikely losses. I used to think it was just the playing group, but it is clear this is a club wide issue of getting comfortable and getting ahead of themselves. We are nearly one week on from the weekend that was, and I'm still every bit as gutted as I was then. -

What a shambles. -
It definitely has the potential to be a turning point, but we will have to wait and see. If the playing and coaching group are even half as filthy as I am, they won't be forgetting this anytime soon. Could be quite a powerful motivator going forward.
-
We ended the season only 3 and a half games off the top of the ladder this season. Let that sink in. The club should be absolutely livid with how they let this season slip away. And I'm not just talking about making finals. We blew a golden opportunity to go deep in finals and really compete.
-
That is ridiculous.

Liverpool are still never far from the top of the league, have won the Champions League and domestic cups in more recent years. So you'll have to excuse me for not feeling too sorry for you. I support Nottingham Forest, and like you, missed the glory days of the 70s and 80s when they won 2 European Cups, but my time has been spent watching the Championship, and even a stint in League One for a few years. But at the end of the day, I'm not emotionally invested following sport on the other side of the world. I would trade Forest's very existence for a single Melbourne flag.

The premise of this thread is every bit as embarrassing as that first quarter Saturday.
