Post Match Discussion: JLT #1 vs North Melbourne
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hogan looks set for a big year, touch wood. And I'm very confident Salem is going to be our big mover this year. Absolutely class ball user. -
All of a sudden the JLT games are looking a lot more appealing after the AFLX shenanigans last week. Even moreso now they have ditched the supergoal. Actually feels like proper footy.

Robbo (Mark) doesn't think we'll make finals
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree with his reservations. He hasn't forgotten that woeful effort in the final round of last year, and I haven't either. On paper, we should make the 8, but there is a lot more to it than that. -
I would say he is up against Hannan for a spot in the round 1 side, so he is definitely a chance if he plays well in the next couple of weeks.

I like it. When there are 5, 6 , 7 leaders, it just dilutes the whole process.

Christian Petracca declares his loyalty (2018)
Forest Demon replied to Demons11's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good stuff. Hopefully set for a big year. -
I was more interested in individual performances, and almost everyone looked in good nick. Melksham was fantastic. Petracca and TMac looked good. I still have a concern over Stretch's kicking action. He takes too long to "wind up" and get the ball onto his boot.

Garry Lyon thinks Paxman best AFLW Player.
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
She is definitely the best in the league in terms of the natural footy ability to find the ball in close and rack up clearances. -
Me too. The natural improvement we will see, and we need for the games to flow better, will be completely nullified by further diluting the talent.
-
Are you suggesting the players are not completely candid when they talk to random supporters? Surely not. Calf injuries, particularly in older players, is becoming one of those injuries that never seem to go away. Like foot injuries.

We went up from Brisbane last year on the Saturday, and the kids had a great day in what seemed like a pretty big turn out. Doesn't make much sense to change it to a Friday.

No White for MFC Clash Jumpers for Season 2018
Forest Demon replied to Rodney (Balls) Grinter's topic in Melbourne Demons
My only request is that it doesn't have a gimmicky demon or even a massive sized logo front and centre. -
If he can keep injury free, and it's a big if, Christian Salem.

The most startling revelation to come out of these updates is that Jay Kennedy Harris does not have a hyphen between Kennedy and Harris. It's all happening.

Bartlett moving to afternoons to be joined by Dr Turf. A hell of a lot better than Dwayne and a couple of the other options we had heard. I really like listening to Dr Turf, and it doesn't hurt he is a Dees man through and through.

Last-Touch Rule implemented for AFLW
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
I haven't been bothered to read the article, but surely it would be last disposal, rather than last touch? I.e. a kick or a handball, as opposed to the ball just spilling over, or hitting someone and going over the boundary. I don't really support this rule in general, but if it is coming in, that's what it has to be, to ensure it isn't open to these sort of manipulations. -
The simple fact is someone is in the wrong, and the fact they have resorted to getting the union involved means there is a breakdown in communication somewhere. I'm shocked some posters are happy to pass it off as a "non issue".
-
It shouldn't, but it shocks me how out of touch the decision makers are. Dwayne Russell is universally the least liked commentator/analyst.

Port Closer than Dees to a Flag says Jack Watts
Forest Demon replied to Engorged Onion's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pretty much what you would expect him to say, although I did find the very first quote interesting. "You know who I think is (closer to a premiership), that's why I'm here" Not the first part, more the second part. Wattsy, I think we all no the reason you aren't at Melbourne, and very little of it was your own doing. -
Most forget Salem started 2017 very well before injury, and like others, he never really got going after that. If he stays injury free, he will be one of our big movers this year.

I wouldn't say it's the beginning of the end for SEN, as they are probably already on that track, but with Hutchy now pulling the strings, I can see this heading south quickly. Pathetic treatment of two loyal servants. Always liked the ox, a genuine bloke, whose love for the dees has always been evident.
-
Did I hear the ox got the punt from SEN?

Crystal Ball 2018: Predictions for next season
Forest Demon replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
Position - 5th Improvers - Salem, Petracca and Hogan Sliders - Lewis, Vince, OMac Roughy - Petty -
The footy media has certainly become a weird, sort of incestuous, beast. I don't care for many of them, nor some of the ex-footballers in commentary and analysis roles. Many of them definitely need to be bought down a peg or three.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon it is because 99% of posters have no idea about the draft crop, so they just look at the things they can easily digest, like someone's height. I wouldn't read anything into what most posters say about the draft.
