Coburg Lions v Casey Scorpions - VFL Round 1
Forest Demon replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good to hear. We need another lock down big defender, even if he isn't ready for the seniors until next year. -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 3
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6 - Gawn - went all day and set us up perfectly in the middle 5 - Petracca - underrated game, he was hugely influential, especially early 4 - Wagner - best game for the club and his kicking was spot on 3 - Jones - still feel he is taken for granted by some supporters 2 - Bugg - plays his best footy when he is a pest and converted his chances (mostly) 1 - Hogan - love the fact he is just always in the game, goals or not Honourable mentions to Salem and Kent. -
Loves a good pump fake in the face of an opponent as well. Already seen him do it at least 4 or 5 times.
-
I know he will get his marking going, but my main concern is some of his horrible kicks out of defence. Reminds me of some of TMac's shanks.

My 3 word player analysis v North Melbourne
Forest Demon replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Like it or not, Salem is one of our most important players. Once Watts left, he is the last remaining bits of class. I have really high hopes for him. -
Not that I should be expecting consistency, but that is promising if Sidebottom got off. Jetta definitely gets him in the head, so hopefully the impact is low enough to get away with it.
-
Unfortunately we might be in strife with the MRP for a couple of incidents: Jetta's bump on Brown in Q3(?) Frost's sling tackle on Anderson in Q4
-
I'd be lying if I said OMac inspired me with confidence, but he did a very good job again today, and you are spot on about Brown's goals.
-
Good win after coughing up a 4 goal head start (again). Special mention to Wagner who was great. And also Bugg, who I thought was lucky to stay in the team.
-
Speaking of Carey being an idiot, there was a moment in last night's game where he started crapping on about Sidebottom never winning a B&F, and the no name fill in commentator just butted in and put him in his place, saying he is the reigning pies B&F winner. It was magnificent and Carey genuinely seemed taken aback.
-
Fair call. I always forget about Scott Thompson, until we play North and I remember what a [censored] he is.
-
Tarrant out for Daw is massive news if true. Hogan v Tarrant would have been a great duel. Hopefully Hogan isn't as complacent as I am that he will tear Daw a new one.
-
I'm honestly not an umpire basher, but I'll never forget Nichols doing a number on us against North in Tassie a couple of years back. It was borderline criminal.

Match preview and team selection - Round 3

Lucky he won't play there then. I don't mind the selections, but I'm baffled how you could drop Hannan after round 1, but then keep Bugg after last week. -
He is a good player, and that hasn't changed all of a sudden. He is definitely out of form, but I'm certain he will come back into form soon enough. Not worried one bit yet.
-
Not a bad call. Hasn't looked himself so far.
-
PROBABLE Brayshaw for Bugg POSSIBLE Hannan for Fritsch (if injured) Weideman for Pedersen Frost for Wagner I really hope Salem gets going, as he is the bit of class we lack through the middle. He doesn't waste a kick. So he gets a reprieve
-
It just doesn't really stack up, unless there is something off field we don't know about. Good key forwards are hard to find He had a horrible year, so floating him for trade would be poor form Given the year he had, his value would be nowhere near as high as it could be We had already decided to move on Watts, so moving on Hogan also would be a huge call Nothing personal, but I'm just not buying it
-
He will surely get his chance next week. He can play half forward, half back or through the middle, and there are a handful of players in those positions he could come in for and replace.
-
The handball kick ratio is a myth. He is in the middle of packs using his hands to create space for his team. I rate him massively and I'm still not convinced the wider footy public have caught on just how good he is in close. Whoever didn't include him in the top 10 under 23 should honestly look for another profession.

Best place to watch the Brisbane game
Forest Demon replied to armstrong35's topic in Melbourne Demons
I had great seats at the Gabba, unfortunately I was smack bang in the middle of the Brisbane members. But they were a pretty reasonable bunch to be fair. One guy who kept yelling "BALL" every time a Melbourne player was touched, and "KICK IT" every time Brisbane had it, but every club has a few of those. -
First half wasn't the greatest football, but I'm sure Goodwin would have loved how miserly we were, and we looked in complete control. But at one time or another, we just always allow our opposition to get on a big run. I don't have the answers, and I'm sure the coaches are pulling their hair out trying to find the solution. However, it was a good rally at the end when they had all the momentum. Oliver and friends providing the grunt in the middle and Garlett and Hogan with match winning performances.
-
1. Clayton Oliver is a machine, best in tight hands in the game 2. Hogan and Garlett were matchwinners 3. We found a way to win when they had the momentum in the last
