GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
It's amazing the way he makes space and then hits the contest at pace to gather and goal

Yep, Lindsay got smashed earlier under exactly the same circumstances. No problemo! Pickett, oh he's taken a cheap shot.

We've got a trio of the worse dribblers in the league. I'm calling them "the Tribble team"

CASEY: RD 18 vs Sandringham
Yeah, definitely not writing Jeffo off at all. I think it's insane he got dropped instead of letting him have a run with JVR in the seniors to try and find a rhythm together. It just struck me as reflective of our kicking and skills across the whole group. A great pack mark and then a total lack of concentration and technique to put your head over the ball and drill a drop punt from 30 out. It sums up our season. Loads of effort and then puss poor execution. It drives me mad, I wanted to see the lad kick 6 today. He should be given a good run in the seniors.

CASEY: RD 18 vs Sandringham
If there was a moment that personified our AFL / VFL season, it was that set shot for goal by Jefferson where he went to 2 goals 5 for the day. 30m out directly in front, he just leaned back and kicked the ball on the flat like a pancake. It was so incredibly lazy and ill disciplined after taking a great mark. What on earth is going on with our skills?

NON-MFC: Round 20
I think there's just a structural problem of there being too many teams now. They probably need to bring it back to 12 or 14 teams long term. Maybe even two divisions? I hate the idea of it and the ramifications of it for us but dead set the league is a dogs breakfast. They're not helping either that the VFL / probably the second tier comp in the nation is really poorly managed as well. I think you're almost at the point of having to build a good second tier comp to then feed the premier league but the AFL is not interested in building the game up and investing in the game itself. It has the stench of ARU about it right now. Anyways, good old Cats and Pies forever. They know how to run the game

NON-MFC: Round 20
Vlandy has just had a crack at the AFL. The NRL seems to be surpassing AFL viewership now. Our game has never been in better health hey? NON-MFC: Round 20
I reckon GWS will get close in the second half but yeah, the umps are giving the vibes they'll get the swans over the line. Good game to watch. Should be a good finish

AFL, the gentlemen's game. Your ball. We'll just jump on you and drag the ball back under you and wave our hands in the air like we're hysterical soccer players to pull a stupid free kick or get another stoppage. The NRL must be loving this

May to Tribunal
Was thinking about a couple of things this morning. 1. Petty's concussion against Gold Coast - Fiorini had no case to answer? https://www.afl.com.au/news/1353302/match-review-brayden-fiorini-and-steven-may-in-the-clear-22-charges-laid Petty arrived first head over the ball (poor technique according to the media - Petty's fault) Fiorini in the clear coming in with a hip to Petty's head 2. Thinking back to Pickett's BIG suspension last year and Moore that wasn't even concussed after sliding into the tackle feet first. It cost us big time at the start of this season with Koz out for 3 weeks. https://youtu.be/xTtlyBTXV88 Hopefully and probably, it will be a mini final for us to go out on a high and inflict some damage on the wobbly Collingwood. I feel it in my waters that they'll find a way to cite Pickett again for rough conduct. I can just feel it. I love this game, I truly hate this League. Grow some big ones Greeny. Stand up for your players, supporters and this club.

I have a whole new respect for our players and most AFL players who have to suck this excrement up week in week out. Both from the MRO and the umpires. How they keep their mouths shut without exploding is a credit to them.

Adrian's gotta watch Dennis Denuto in the castle one more time to get the vibe right for the defence. It's.. the vibe.. right?

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
Yeah there's not much guesswork when you look at the long form stats for both clubs on making the hard decisions and being ruthless.

Umpiring standard
I think most on here aren't blaming the umpires for our woes and losses. That problem should be firmly placed on Jack Watt's shoulders (joking) This thread is about umpiring standards. The standard is not very good at all and adds to the frustration when our team is playing so woefully. The adjudication is incredibly inconsistent. With the amount of money involved in the league, the fact umpires are not professional is a joke (even though Laura says the standard has never been better) - she sounds like a politician. If I'm watching a local league game, I expect umps just do their best. At AFL level, I expect that umpires get relegated and should be open to scrutiny if they are officiating poorly.

Umpiring standard
I saw that one yesterday. Disgraceful. The ump said to Jackson, you took a step. The kick was reversed and the pies had a shot on goal. I then watched players taking multiple steps off their line for the rest of the game before play on would be called. Players aren't standing the mark always anymore and players with the ball move a number of metres off their line before play on is called. There's no consistency in how the rules are applied. Insane. As was this 50m and gifted goal to the pies after a Freo player gestured towards the screen. No abuse no arguing, just a gesture, 50m. Yet players are back to arguing with umps all the time. https://www.facebook.com/reel/724315990200691?mibextid=9drbnH&s=yWDuG2&fs=e And it was another dodgy free kick paid in front of the goals for the pies to start with.

I'd normally be all up for the club to fight this properly but, I think we're best to put May on ice for the rest of the year anyway. Not only because of his concussion but he's not moving well at all. It's time to try a new backline setup for the rest of the year no matter how hard we get spanked
