That melee. And our gines
Or to reverse the kick in the first place to give it to May for being smacked by 2 suns players Loved the "Petty had poor technique"when he got concussed rubbish by the media It's along the same vibe as "Brayshaw deviated his line into ftards shoulder" kinda logic.

Time to go Goody?
Really good post. It's one big lesson you learn when you step into a management role. You just can't be best friends with the staff. It just doesn't work. The whole place smacks of standards not being high enough. The commentary from Goody about goal kicking accuracy and that sometimes it's better not to practice it to take the pressure off is a prime example. all high performance sportspeople get into a funk with form at times. But, the whole place is smelling pretty funky right now. I know our list isn't great, but it's not completely horrible. Our injury list is pretty light. You can love each other at your workplace as much as you want but it wears very thin after a while when your processes and team skills are [censored], your workplace is chaotic and disfunctional, you keep getting belted and your customers (supporters) give up on you. Tracc, Clarry and May as well have all had a spit, but I haven't seen them "knuckle down and be the change" that needs to happen to transform their workplace. That's no letting Goody off the hook either. He has to drive them to be better. Too many Ted Lasso fans in the joint?

Goalkicking
What an incredibly weird and uninsightful article and the response from the coach. "If you look across a bigger period, whether that be three, four, five years, our ability to convert is actually sitting OK. "This year it's not to the level, but it's one of those things, the more you talk about goalkicking, the worse you get. They're going to have more fun evidently but no explanation of what that means. afl.com.au'Refreshing': Demons rethink approach to turn goalkicking...After a season blighted by poor goalkicking, Melbourne is releasing the shackles ahead of its must-win clash with Gold Coast

NON-MFC: Round 15
I'm not watching a lot of other footy but Geez there seems to be a lot of very soft 50m penalties being dished out of late. Such gifts to teams and momentum killers to others. Is it just me noticing this after the Dees got hammered the other week or does it seem to be on the rise?

Time to go Goody?
It's, interesting. I automatically thought about the lions forward line. Charlie Cameron is great, Kozzy is even better. Daniher? I used to love watching him when he was horrible. He's quite formidable now. The Lions midfielders and defence move it fast and accurately (in general) System and skills. I don't think our list is good enough for a flag right now, but it's good enough to make the finals if we had better skills and a better system. Goal kicking, field kicking. Kynan Brown is another who has the pace and evasiveness to be a full time senior player. He's wonderful through traffic and with his tackling. But.. His kicking has been letting him down. That's been the case for 2 years now. If Joe Daniher can transform their game. Anyone can with the right mindset, coaching and support. We've replaced a fair chunk of assistant coaches but nothing is changing with systems and skills. As ANB left us, he said that Yze really helped him with his kicking (remember he used to butcher it as well but he got much better). He said Yze taught him to straighten and take a beat before disposal. I.e. make sure of it. Made a world of difference for our team. He went from a second tier player to a vital cog for us. Gus was very much the same. Very steady under pressure. Windsor has been too but it feels like his calmness and disposal is starting to crumble now. There's a heap of players out there just hack kicking out of defence or into f50 right now. I can't believe that if they really were supported and time was invested, the likes of Clarry, Tracc, Max and JV couldn't dramatically improve their kicking. They may never be disposal guns but they could do much much better. What's going on? We still seem to be in a world of chaos on the field most of the time.

Time to go Goody?
Yep the system. As mentioned above. Port had a better system not better players. Dump it into your f50 and try and hold it in is not a good system. I don't really watch enough AFL anymore to know who the up and comers are, but I think we need a younger bloke that focusses on a fast transition game style. We should be looking for a good assistant (like Yze was. Geez I wish we'd put him in as coach but the timing probably wasn't appropriate) and promoting them in. Goody has tried to make the change in system and it's failed. Continuously He's acknowledged our shortcomings going forward for over 6 years now and hasn't resolved it. Get the broom out

POSTGAME: Rd 14 vs Port Adelaide
Geez @layzie I don't see that anyone would suggest he's being carried by the team. He has been a bloody gem and is in AA form. He busts his guts for us and I think everyone here acknowledges it. But, I think he's kicked 2 goals 11 behinds this year (and probably a couple OOF) The captain (and senior players) have to go back and slot those. I know he said he's been working on his accuracy but all reports from training is that there's no structured approach by the club to try and get us out of the goal kicking yips. None! Max has to help lead this approach. It's like we're in complete denial of the problems that are seeing us lose games continually through poor forward entries and poor accuracy. We've dropped at least 3 games through poor accuracy this year. Win those and we'd be sitting around mid table and keeping our members engaged. We can't continue like this. It's unsustainable, demoralising and damaging for all parties involved with our club. It's the definition of insanity right now. If the review stated that players needed more independence, then Max and the leadership team have to take ownership and help drive the change.

POSTGAME: Rd 14 vs Port Adelaide
So true. Everyone knows that Disco is a better option forward than Petty. Apart from the coach. Why has it taken so long and then why wasn't Petty sent back? He just ends up clogging the forward line and getting in the way. An open forward line seems the only way we convert at the moment. JVR = Jessie Hogan v2 at this rate. He's continually being played out of position. So much hope he was turning the corner after the first and then he spends the rest of the game anywhere but near the sticks. May is a warhorse. He's been wonderful but I reckon he's just getting slower as the game is getting faster. He walks with the gait of a 70 year old on a waiting list for a hip replacement. It doesn't help that he's still going off his [censored] at team mates when he's not delivering himself. It's not good leadership. Nor is the incredible Max Gawn who busts his guts around the ground but can't kick a goal. Viney used to be Ble to kick em too. I remember muttering at times "yeah captains goal" it's been a while. Where's TMAC? How does Howes keep getting a game? Goal kicking. Is on the players but, if they're not fixing it themselves then what the hell are the coaches doing to maybe you know, kinda maybe suggest "hey guys would you mind staying back for half an hour to try a few set shots which aren't helicopter punts from the boundary" at training. Dead set we're not that bad, we just seem like a bunch of disorganised, tryin hard, soccer lovin', loose units out there. But geez they love their coach.

POSTGAME: Rd 14 vs Port Adelaide
Got home from a wonderful afternoon of beers and bands at our local. Just finished the replay. Some promising signs. We just need to lift from four players going for the mark to six from a long bomb in and we'll snavel a couple of marks. We need to play along the boundary a little more to get the handpass under pressure game really cracking. Disco up forward. Coaching mastery. No-one would have thought of that. No-one Leaving Petty forward as well "to bring the ball to ground" everytime was fantastic. Made me reminisce of the "days of iron hands Dawes" Not capitalising from a Port Backman that looked like he'd been shot in the leg and just backing our system delivered in spades. Bitterly disappointed with our finish. It was 14.8 to 8.14 which would have been a fantastic statement about our accuracy. I know I came home a little drunk, but did Port get a goal after the siren for each of the first three quarters? A master class of umpiring - it's not how many frees, it's where and how they get paid. That hands in the back is ok sometimes rule is a ripper. Bring on 2030

CASEY: Rd 12 vs Essendon VFL
Should have had a certain goal then right on 3 QTR time. Kalani White really burnt his team mate then who was by himself with a paddock in front of goal. First game though, so he'll get better I'm sure. Kynan Brown must be real close to a call up Langford and Lindsay both look ready for a breather. Hope he gets a run soon. He has some great speed and is pretty bloody good through traffic. Not confident we'll nail this one unless we really get back to our first quarter form.
