  1. Wow. Thanks so much Dr G. That was the one alright. I think it was nine or ten by AJ. Such great names on both sides. Spaldings waltz through a pack in the middle. Todd Viney as tough if not tougher than Jack. Stynes with 13 or so mark's. And the booing....just like an eagles game. I'm not sure if I've just been watching the gf too many times but the pace of this old game seemed a lot slower. Certainly not softer. It was the last quarter though. Maybe the turf was wet. Nonetheless it was certainly a smash and crash game with no prisoners taken.
  2. How much of our flag was driven by a 57 year drought? It's hard to quantify I guess. Back to back flags are rare but the desire to play a granny on our home turf will come in to play. Add the fact of so many players starting to peak will be a factor in our favor as well as some more savvy recruiting. I really believe this team not only loved playing, all smiles and laughter coming down the concourse...they also loved winning. Mentally tough teams can do it and I really think we will see that we are one....as demonstrated by all the times we came back from lagging behind last year.
  3. My fondest memory of AJ was when he kicked a bag at Moorabbin...I cant remember how many it was now....I thought it was ten but that seems too much. We won though. There were some angry and ferral Aints fans there too. Won it off his own boot. I think I'll see if I can Google it. I cant remember what year but it must be close to when they shut that s@#$/^le down. Man that guy was a star. I need the footy to return ASAP
  4. No love lost here. Dont hold back mate. As per my previous post here..my mate and I chickened out at age 12 seems in hindsight, the correct call.
  5. Still seems hard to fathom at times, even if I have watched the replay over forty times.
  6. Its gunna happen. All our players will get even better. Buy your tickets asap.
  7. Those things were deadly at a quiet patch during the cricket. Whoever invented a dangerous projectile, only to then fill it up with an anger inducing liquid was evil.
  8. I guess umpires had to be braver in those days as there was no sheltered exit for them.
  9. Lakeside... https://theholybootsfootballemporium.com/2012/06/12/home-away-5-lakeside-oval/amp/
  10. Grand final replay will be a ripper in round one. Not a fan of timeslot for young families sake but cant wait to watch it. I guess dogs have more to play for...revenge etc. But we have the task of winning a cup at the Mcg so we will need to channel our granny efforts again. Kudos for the afl for this concept. It will also be good to see some Nt games again.
  11. I wonder If Trac surprised himself with our first goal. Off one step that was an incredibly powerful kick. It's no like it just made it either. Man that bloke has powerful legs. Which brings me to Sparrow. His goal was not too dissimilar. Given his age, I wonder if we have another CP on our hands. Tom Sparrow's efforts seem to stand out more every time I watch the replay. Such poise and presence for a young fella in a granny. When he didnt blaze away in that first minute of the last and pass to Bbb, was a moment when this kid became a permanent part of this team in my mind. To think he will continue to get even stronger gives us a very tough midfield.
  12. It's an extra long drive back from Geelong when we used to lose. I was never brave enough to go to Vic park. At the age of 12 ( I cant believe even before that age then how much freedom to wonder, I had. ...my parents were irresponsible but it was great) my mate a crazy tigers fan wanted me to go with him but we chickened out.
  13. Probably because he can wear it if he wants to.
  14. Thanks T RaB Got to this too late but like it would have made any difference.
  15. I'm going back a few years and tipping my hand re my age but one of my earlier memories of footy was wearing number 2 on my duffle coat. Ah yes the height of fashion...the duffle coat. The Vfl was a fascinating time with our different grounds and the parochialism. It wasn't fun visiting another ground. I also miss state of origin. Cigarettes adds on the fences and mud covered toilets at Moorabbin. The wind at Arden street. The tram and two bus trips to get to Waverly. Floor is open for reminiscing about the good old days......
  16. Same here. Punchline up there with " around the grounds"
  17. Twas the perfect year including a win over the eagles on their home turf, a win over power the same and the incredible comeback at kardinia which probably stuck in the cats minds for the prelim.
  18. Thanks for the post Dante. Your honesty is refreshing. The thing I like about Bbb at present is he seems to have added another dimension to his game. He has always been a lead into space forward but this year seems to have come into his own as a player taking pack Mark's or contesting and getting the ball to ground for our many crumbles. But even as his old self at Norf, to kick that many goals and be discarded after one poor season was just wrong imho. But thanks norf.
  19. Still cant fathom Norf letting Bbb go. I hope he has a great pre season and plays a full season. He still has several seasons left in him and if he topped the h and a goal tally for 3 years in a low team he could do much more with us.
  20. Yea it's a valid point. I'm sure once you've won a flag that number is cemented for good.
