  1. No love for Bbb Sounds like he went ok at Casey. Maybe in for Disco.
  2. Well we were certainly a chance last year. Despite the rampant injuries to our fwd line we still would have beaten the filth if Gus was knocked out and had his career ended. We were flat from that and with Laurie as the sub ( a very poor call) we lost. The year prior we struggled again with our fwd line come finals. It is interesting that there has been a dearth of big solid experienced forwards since 21. The club tried the woeful Grundy idea but that was a huge flop. With hindsight any bloke that's almost seven foot an averages about two or three marks a game was never going to be a forward and if they really thought it put would have considered how bad Max is at goal kicking twenty out. But we were right in replacing Jackson. Just tough times with a shortage of talls. Won't get any easier with Tassie on the horizon. Thankfully Tmac has come good even if it's in defence. But Bbb who started well is perhaps the Bbb of 22 finals when he was lost for them both. And Petty....well we saw what he can do again v the cats but sadly looks back to his slump again. I said pregame that our fwd line was a real unknown quantity. Sure Fritta and Kozzie are reliable but the talls in Turner, Petty and now Jvr are not. So if you can stop Frittas and Kozzie than it's alarm bells. The big news is Tracca as a fwd again but alas we are robbing ourselves in the middle. But I'm with you.... It is incredibly l frustrating to go out in straight sets and I feel too that we are seeing a generational team slipping through it's destiny. I do think we don't bat very deep. As said we are missing a big reliable solid fwd and we need a couple more decent mids.
  3. I feel given your name that when one reads your posts it should have some accompanying music like that fro the show...the saint or mission impossible or thereabouts.
  4. He's travelling ok this year ( he has been probably our biggest tackler) but Jack Viney is having a significant lesser amount of disposals this year to last. In his all but his first game he has averaged around twenty possies a game. In his last eight games last year that was around six to seven higher. Is he playing a more defensive role this year? He doesn't seem to be impacting games quotes so much. Yes his flick to Caleb was classic Viney and he's his usual tackling machine self, but in general play, he hasn't been someone who looks like teams have to worry about. Add in Oliver who has been hot and cold ( playing injured at times) and I'm not sure we have the luxury of playing Tracca up fwd. Which after five goals is surely a must. Maybe Salo will be back soon and or Rivers goes to the guts. Is Woey ready for a promotion or young Brown a chance? It was encouraging to see Sparrow play another solid game.
  5. Yea Petty was that vital link against the cats. It was disappointing that he fell back into that rut. Mind you he wasn't alone. All our fwds were off. Even Kozzie seemed to panic a fair bit. Mind you our midfield wasn't delivering the ball to them all on a platter like Carlton's were at times. Even with so many players down we almost won so that's the big positive . That we don't rely on sole players. But can we address why we have come out sound asleep for a few games now? Fix our starts and we are a tough nut to crack.
  6. I really think there were a lot of very soft frees paid to the blues in the first quarter. Carlton had all the momentum and played well but when your team is pinged 11 to 3 against like us in the 20 odd mins than that momentum was difficult to break. The frees certainly contributed. I know we started poorly but maybe we did win if May did actually touch that kick.
  7. And it seems fairly clear that dob is related to the size of the crowd of the team receiving the free.
  8. Definitely not. Anb or Bowey Wires are crossed somewhere.
  9. You mean put the lit paper bag outside his front door so he stomps on it. Guaranteed to cheer you up.
  10. Place your bets. Place your bets.
  11. Has anyone come with a reason why for three of our last four games we really only showed up towards the ends of them? I'm mean full credit for seeing the games out and all but we do have a problem.
  12. Yep , I'd say the apple didn't fall too far.
  13. That was hard loss to swallow because I felt like we lost it three times. The start of lack of thereof. The umpires. And we just missed out by a point. Ps Blues fans are shockers with their booing and free kick entitlement. I wonder if the free differential is a result of big crowds swaying the umpires like the dobs we saw.
  14. One of the best fwds about . And certainly ours.
  15. I hope it's just his knee because he went missing this time last year for a considerable amount of games.
  16. Some games just go against you . We started horribly. But Carlton in the wet could not miss a goal. The ball bounced their way. They got the benefit of doubt from umpires. It just happens.
  17. Did the five day break bite us on the backside. Interesting that a lot of the players who had big games last week were flat. Kozzie, Langdon, Lever, Fritta, Lever, Petty and Oliver in particular. That's quite a list.
  18. Such a hard loss to accept. I mean because of our poor start. Just a point kicked and we draw but six goals zip is shocking. Plus they couldn't miss on a wet night. And the umps giving blues frees like candy . Then our fightback denied from us by umpires again. Worst of all are the booing blues fans as if they were hard done by. And then it's our talls fwd who were crushed. Apart from Fritta and Kozzie who gets put in the middle we don't have a fwd line. The fact that Tracca went there and kicked five says our talls are totally lost. Same old issue. Dominate the inside fifties and kick poorly ( compared to Carlton) at goal.
  19. Same thing as what happened in two of our three games prior. Just dead said flat. We need some sort of new motivation drill before games. We can't continue coming out so dozy.
  20. Tracca was a monster up fwd. But I'm not sure if we can't afford to have him play there . It's a tough call taking him away from our midfield.
  21. I don't understand why unlike us, the umpires came storming out of the blocks and gave the blues 11 frees in the first quarter to our 3 and then only awarded 8 more to them for the rest of the game. I also didn't get why for 3 quarters of the game they completely ignored htb and then decided to pay it non stop. The htb particularly frustrating because we were not getting our tack to es rewarded. It must be hard for the players when one rule comes and goes in the course of a single game. Also the dob seems to be a coin toss . One which blues got the benefit of at least three times and one seemingly influenced by who has the most supporters. It's hard not to think the umpires had a Carlton win plan last night. That Jvr free for dangerous tackle was a shocker and umpires need to be better than that.
  22. And we didn't capitalize on our 61 i50s to 41. Our tall fwds are not much chop. Jvr is averaging a goal a game. Petty much less than. Disco one a game but only starting. It's doing much.
  23. They need to fine players to stamp that out. It's very dangerous. Not so much this one but it sets a precedent for other players to do the same
  24. Even if he did deliberately put his head to ground it was still soft.
