We’re a different kettle of fish.

Always knew port would lose, they only won 1 game against a top 4 side, when that side was in the top 4, how a team players in the home and away season is they way they play in finals,

The cats you could give a minor pass on their pathetic showing given they are an ageing list and we had the week off, but Port should be absolutely ashamed of that effort tonight. They had every reason to come out the stronger team but they were pathetic. An embarrassment. Once and for all proved that they were pretenders that didn’t deserve to finish as high as they did.

Bring on the dogs, despite the final ladder position they finished I felt they were the second best team across the year. Now it’s time we proved it.

They way a team performs during the season is the way they perform in the finals, port has the worst record against the top 6 teams.

In general, it's sad to listen to the commentators (although some - and this is a minority - have a few clues). There seems to be a central tendency amongst the majority of their number to waffle, to forget what they said seconds, minutes, hours and days ago, to present an authoritarian statement or two for cudos, entertainment and self-preservation. In all, a thoughtless process of a redundant calling to appease the masses and ignore the minnows in footballing terms. Geez, I miss Drew Morphett and Tim Lane.

But we would kill for forward line like Geelong according to kingy, they have 3 forwards that kick goals, we have 6

Technically it was only a 39 point win once you subtract the 44 point lead Geelong had in round 23.

That makes no sense, it's technically a 131  point win, add the 44 points points we came back from + the 4 points we won by then the 83 point win by last night.

    Love this club.

Could see it a mile off, I have been saying for ages that the grandpa's can't go with your young  fast team.

  6. All year comparisons have been made about the demons, comparisons that have got nothing to do with this season, many have been waiting and predicting a major collapse, it has not come to pass. Even now stupid comparisons are still being  made, stop them now  you fools, it is making you look stupid.

  7. Melbourne aren't that good. Their forward line is hardly scary apart from Pickett - smalls trouble us - and we have a stronger midfield. I don't think Gawn scares Stanley either. It's their defence that gets the job done and makes the rest of their team appear better then they are. A defensive forward on Salem and make Lever and May accountable. Sav, Hawkins, Cameron and Rohan could trouble them with the right delivery.

... Yes who has scored more points for this season, stronger midfield bulldust

Wouldn't be totally shocked if we traded out a Harmes to GCS, or a Sparrow to Adelaide if we won the flag, in order to bundle up some picks.

    Just a gut feel...

Sparrow will be a gun, tough as Viney but a better kick, and has pace.

I reckon Salem is too slow for the midfield and just too useful off HB with setting up play

River is obviously untried so far, but might be worth a look

Salem is not slow he has pace, kicking is quicker then running

    Agreed.

Oddly, Scott said Optus suited their style of play.  Yet, this was the first game they have won there in several attempts.  Maybe he was pumping up his player's confidence. Optus might suit their game but it suits ours better.

And we have won several games there vs the Eagles and the crowd.  We can draw on that for confidence.

Like you I think that whatever positives Geelong take out of playing at Optus ours trumps theirs.

My understanding is that Optus is the same size as  Marvel stadium, if that's true we never lose at Marvel.

To be fair they're just football journalists... Calling them experts is flattering.

Most of them wont mind getting us wrong too much if Port win the flag.

I had us around the 6th-8th mark.

The season has been terrific at helping us forget just how poor we were at times last season and horrendous the year before. Feel like we've only just won the full trust of all AFL media in the last month.

The amount of these so called experts who put Collingwood in the 8 is staggering, blind Freddy could see them collapse down the ladder, with the stars they traded out.

Many of us have been saying all year that our poor goal kicking will cost us a final. We must kick straighter in the next 5 weeks. Do that and we'll be very hard to beat.

I don't think you know much about Melbourne, you said even boasted that after  about round 15 there was no way in the world we would be in the top 4 by year's end, shut your negativity down.

Who sacks a coach after 6 premierships.  Reigning premiers.
win record 9-2 in 11 games.
    won the first 8.

it was all about jeolously and egos

board thought he was getting too powerful

Well the reason norm was sacked had nothing to do with his coaching, norm got sued for defamation for criticising an umpire on live TV, he wanted the MFC to pay for his legal fees,  they did not, so norm was sacked

As great as Nibbler was tonight., and I'm not a fan of him but am of his he work rate, his decision making worries me. Regardless, kudos to him. Well done nibbler.

His decision making has been very good this season, 27 touch's, only 1 turn over, that's a excellent fantastic amazing game.

The man is delusional. Again said they dominated against Melbourne but fell away late.

he can say that, but he just got busted by flat track bullies, and what has that got to do with how old and slow they are, and why bring it up? it's like when Selwood said Geelong are the most healthiest  they have ever been going into finals, just smoke n mirrors mind games, it might work in H&W but not in finals.

The other '[censored]' thing to bear in mind is if Port Adelaide make the Grand Final in Perth (and say play us), all of their supporters will be able to fly over to Perth and watch the game, so it'll turn into a partial home crowd for them. This is because there are no restrictions on entering WA from SA. We would have to rely on all of the lovely 'impartial' Western Australians to barrack for us to even it out - can't see everyone doing that, so Port will have the weight of the crowd. We are used to 'booooooo' in Perth I guess!

Do you know how expensive flights to Perth are, port are the busted [censored] poor

Not to forget that both top 4 teams who lost their QFs last year made the GF.

Not the way Geelong are playing they have hit the wall, it happened at 3 QTR time last week, can't go in with the oldest side in history and think you're going to win premierships, there's a reason why old teams like Geelong have never won a premiership.
