It will really test my loyalty to this game and following AFL should Kalani end up at the Suns. On one hand the AFL, media and football world spruik the romanticism of the notion of a son following in his father's footsteps at his beloved club. On the other, a contrived academy rule can gazump this  notion to rob a club the opportunity of recruiting a 'favourite son'. Read Nick Blakey. Make up your mind! It's an absolute farce. To lose a 10+ year potential KP is unpalatable. If the AFL really want F/S to remain it should always take precedence over gluttonous northern academies.

That says something more about north then the system, his father obviously didn't really love  North,

Agree with you that the purpose of the northern academy's was to find players who wouldn't otherwise play AFL. Heeney is the poster boy for the success for this. Blakey and Mills who already played AFL in a junior club are not. But how you police that I don't know.

Don't agree with you at all on COLA. I live in Sydney and there is a very clearly identifiable difference in COL up here compared to any other city in Australia. Especially compared to somewhere like Geelong who get a massive COL advantage. The whole COLA outrage and the Buddy deal was a scurrilous beat up by Eddie Everywhere. The COLA component of the salary cap was audited by the AFL every year. It was allocated per rata to each player on the list. There was no pooling of the money and giving it to just one player, Buddy. Swans and GWS will always run with a substantial disadvantage at. attracting players because of this disparity. It has had a significant effect on their trading since it was taken away.

Sidney at a disadvantage at  attracting players they've never had a problem

The exact same was said about Melbourne and Hawthorn.

    We've got short memories

It was totally different, us and the hawks had much larger supporter bases then either Fitzroy or north, north just don't have the support to even get 50k, just have a look north are still small, and Fitzroy are gone, and both North and Fitzroy actually wanted to merge

Yes. The AFL make money propping up GW$ & GC $un$, but they won’t have any benefit from propping up North.
The Moment Brayshaw stepped down as President, that was the Final Curtain

We all know for the future of the game, North Melbourne should have merged with Fitzroy was an easy solution, but the AFL was against it, just because North Melbourne was a good team at a time,  short-term thinking

The league is barely able to sustain 18 teams. There isn’t enough sponsorship, members or players to facilitate a 19th team. Americas population is 10x Australia’s and only has 32 teams.

A 19th team in Tasmania isn't taking away members from anybody else really, it's creating new members that would never be members

Fritta did have a very nasty interaction on Wednesday night but not with a player, with a spectator. After the match at the boundary fence Fritta handed a footy to a toddler on his dad’s shoulders. A Richmond supporter, not a kid mind you, but a grown-arze man who was standing behind the dad, punched the ball out of the toddler’s hands and gave Fritta a mouthful along the lines of you’re soft af and how about a hard ball get now and again etc. All this in front of the many little kids who were down the front to high-5 players. What a fine specimen of humankind right there 😡

The AFL should be told about this man, see if there is any vision, he needs a life time ban

Geez Louise, I’m not peeping through his window or anything like that. No need to, I suppose. He flagrantly gets his best team out for all to see. Even starts a new thread for it. 🤭

Makes little sense, it's really a bizarre, do you know a joke

agreed. first time in years i actually expect crowd punch ups.

I almost had a punch up at a AFL game, twice, first time was the last game at Princes Park when we beat the hapless Carlton, the second time was at a Collingwood GWS game, when I went there to support the GWS against Collingwood in the 2019 preliminary final, was saying Collie wobbles the whole game

Keen to get the panels view on the season to date.

I'm happy sitting 5-2, but realise we have a tough little block coming up.

Whilst our form hasn't been our best in everygame, our results have been about as good as I would have hoped for. Losses to Sydney at the SCG and Brisbane aren't cause for dismay IMO.

I think we'll learn alot about where we are at over the next 2-3 weeks, but I am continually frustrated by the posters on demonland and various social media platforms that seem to expect champagne football every week. A win is a win at this stage of the season IMO

Stay tuned for my rant on the podcast

Just watched the replay.....that was tough. There was a moment where Petty had the ball in the second quarter. He'd barely had a possession and he was gassed. His face was bright red and he was sucking in the air. He's working hard, he's had no pre season and very little footy last year. His time off legs would set back anyone. He'll stay in the one's, he'll start clunking a few and eventually he'll hit the scoreboard. If an opposition's best defender is on him he also knows how to defend. He'll become an asset. He'll also get us some tasty draft picks when he heads to Adelaide.

Does he need a mini preseason, have a two to 4 week training block then get him back in

I think it is completely obvious that his confidence is shot. Posters say his attitude is like he wants to be in Adelaide. I disagree completely. I believe if he kicks a couple of goals in a row we will then see a completely different player. The question is: should he go to Casey to get those goals?

    Is his foot 100%,

    Very generous Joeboy

    Petty. Terrible body language

    Billings. Time for Casey

    VanRooyen. Needs a optometrist

    Trac. Get off Instagram

    Laurie. Deserves full game

    Goodwin. One trick pony

If we played anyone half decent tonight we would’ve got flogged

    Worst post ever

Disco. Makes a genuine contest, can mark and kick straight. And seems reasonably good 'below the knees' and has some 'smarts' about him. Other than that he's not much good.

Who was he playing on most of the time?

Surely you joke not much good, he has looked very good just has bad luck with injury, I hate bias

Will be happy hour around 9 to 10 pm hopefully.

I wouldn't call that cheap but haven't bought a beer in Melbourne for a while.

Not cheap, but I think pints are over 14 normally

21 disposals last week and 20 tackles. Seems he knows what is wanted from him, and he's just been given a 2 year extension from memory, so clearly not on the move.

Did not say he would be delisted, just that no team would trade for him, since he can't find the ball, 5 possessions around 1, and every time he's come in he's shown about the same so far.

It strikes me as a square peg in a round hole move. We need a 40 goal plus forward which BBB can be.

Would have preferred this move to be trialled at Casey for a few weeks.

If Oliver is at full strength I can't see much sense in Laurie's inclusion. Unfortunately he may well go the way of Jordon and Bedford at season's end

He won't go the way of Jordan or Bedford, teams wanted those players, no teams would want bill, he has shown nothing, if he doesn't make it at the dees, then he is on the delist list

If we are building a multi million dollar facility we should either build it at Casey (unsure of feasibility) or we should build a ground to play on at the new home base, i am firmly of the belief that having 2 facilities 45 minutes apart will cause unintended division within the club.

There are AFL teams that run all of their different teams out of the same facility so that's not only possible, but i know people at those clubs that would strongly preach the benefits of it, and those that have 2 facilities like Collingwood have them situated MUCH closer together and the reasoning relates a lot to history and tradition, Victoria park has a lot of meaning to the Pies.

I am not intending to upset anyone with this view, i just have a slightly different opinion on this and will try my best to voice that respectfully.

It will cause no divisions stop talking rubbish.
