  1. YM is right, (yeah, I'm surprised as well), Naita has always had issues with bouncing the ball. Basic skill error, bit of a worry. I love watching him play but as well as the above one other thing stood out to me on the weekend, he doesn't know where to run. He's very reactive in he chases the ball around, he doesn't have the natural knowledge of where the ball is going to (or could) go. In comparison Watts is demonstrating even now that he knows when to lead and the right places to go. His timing is miles in front, even though he's far behind development wise (if that makes sense). At the time I was concerned that we may have made an error, but since then nothing has happened for that reasoning to continue.
  2. I'm hoping for the team to have a red hot go, if we win it's a bonus, but I can handle a loss if we lose. It will get ugly in the media if we drop our bundle and get smashed, but it won't affect my opinion of what's going on with the team.
  3. Rohan has indeed really shot up into contention, unfortunately I haven't seen any of the games yet so my knowledge is pretty poor. I'll get a chance to watch Wednesday's game over the weekend.
  4. Perhaps, but Laidley doesn't seem like that sort of bloke. He comes across as something who loves the pressure, also can't see him not being the boss. I reckon he's just unwinding and catching up with his old sparring partners.
  5. I don't understand why anyone would give up the main coaching role to take up a support job at another club
  6. At this stage I'm happy with Scully and one of either Trengove, Lucas or Morabito. Each of these three have their own strangths and weaknesses, I can't split them.
  7. My understanding is that they're pretty good mates, Scully comes across as being very professional though, he has a bit of Nathan Buckley about him with the way he prepares himself for games (at the same age)
  8. There is no chance that a kid would ease up in the hope of getting picked up by a certain club. We've seen countless of highly credentialed kids have poor finals seasons in their last year of u/18's miss out of selections, or fall through to a rookie spot making it bloody hard for them to prove themselves. For a kid starting out their career it's just not worth the risk. In saying that if a kid were to go down that track then I agree with the posters before me, i wouldn't want him in my team and I can't imagine any recruiter who would disagree with that sentiment. Recruiters want to see kids peform, their jobs are on the line as well, why risk it for a kid of dubious character?
  9. What's even funnier is Martin's kicking. boom tish Seriously though folks, I'm not saying that he should be delisted (and it's kinda amusing that I need to qualify that post), however although Martin has a great deal of potential he'll never be a good footballer untill he learns the art of kicking. We can not afford to have a list full of these types, if he was in the minority then it wouldn't be a problem, we could afford to carry him, but as it stands the majority of the team has poor kicking skills compared to the better teams.
  10. The problem with those are: Petterd - We have a plethora of other small defenders who are ahead of him, Grimes & Bennell come to mind Martin - The third or fourth tall normally plays further up the ground, hardly deep in defence. Unfortunately up the ground he gets exposed with his poor disposal Dunn - No need to add anymore to the debate here, enough has been said about him
  11. Morton (taken at 44) was a father/son selcetion if memory serves me well Cheers
  12. Welcome back, and good to see that you're back onto the Sylvia bandwagon
  13. LOL, you can't blame them for trying though I really hope I'm wrong about him, I would love for steamin to bring this thread up in two years time to show me I was wrong but it's not looking good right now. I seem to remember someone posting a conversation they had with an opposition coach about Dunn, their opinion was that he's got a build that belongs to footy back in the 80's.
  14. Steamin, he was drafted to play as a key forward. He continually demonstrates that he is not a key forward, he plays as a small forward, and not a very good one at that. That's why the club tried to turn him into a midfielder. I hope I'm wrong about him, but it doesn't look good. Out of interest out of those players you mentioned, Petterd, Martin and Dunn, what exactly is their best position?
  15. Jarka

    Stefan Martin

Beat me to it. A player like Martin isn't a problem if the rest of the team can kick properly, unfortunately we're not in that position.
  16. Dunn is not good overhead, he's a terrible mark. When he goes up forward he plays as a small forward. Guys, there's a reason why the footy department has tried to turn him into a tagger
  17. 2nd round pick for Dunn? Ok, let's entertain that suggestion for a second, but let's look at other recent trades involved 2nd rounders. Akermanis Warnock You know what, I can't do this, I just can't take it seriously. Why the **** would anyone want to give up a valuable 2nd rounder in what could be the last full draft for several years for a bloke who can't even get a game with the worse team in the AFL?
  18. I'm begining to understand your reasoning with your opinion on Morton, last night what you'ev been saying about him really stuck out. He's still young though, he still needs to fully develop, let's see what he can do after a couple more pre seasons under his belt.
  19. How many of Grimes' passes went 30m sideways while under no pressure? How many of Davey's passes was forward of the centre to non-existant leading forwards? Stats don't mean diddly squat, I'm not saying that he's a dud, that would be just silly. But it would also be silly to say that he's been very good because the reality is that he hasn't. He has been improving and that's all I expect of him this year. Don't build him up to something that he isn't.
  20. Nice work, out of interest do you plan to do a mock draft at the end of the season after the camp?
  21. It's his kicking and decision making that concerns me, otherwise I agree with you.
  22. I understand what Freak is trying to say but I think he's using the wrong facts to back his argument. Some players are great at their positions like Brereton, Porplyzia, Jeff White and LeCras but they may be considered a little short for the standard height. Other players just struggle to find a position because of their inbetween height, Keplar Bradley, Bate & Dunn fall into this category. However it's not their height that's the main issue, it's their lack of agility or lack of contested marking ability (just to provide an example). My skills of judging ability in kids isn't good enough to make a decision on a kid of Morabito, but I think there's enough other kids who are of equal quality around to not take a chance with him. I also want kids who can kick the ball.
  23. Bennell - Takes them on Bruce - Same as usual Davey - Surrounded by darkness Frawley - Taking on responsibilty Green - Was unusually quiet Grimes - Continued his apprenticeship Jetta - Provided forward movement Johnson - Tried hard again Jones - Not his best Jurrah - Flicker of hope Martin - Learn to kick McLean - Looks very sore Miller - Typical uninfluential game Moloney - Needs to lead Morton - Started runnign again Petterd - Where to play? Rivers - Will take time Robertson - Starved of supply Sylvia - Gradually earning respect Whelan - No preseason shows Warnock - Was very quiet Watts - Boy playing men Joeboy, this is my first attempt at one of these 3 word analysis, it's alot harder than I thought!
  24. Well I gues Juddy was a mad demon fan as well, and that worked out well...oh wait
