I barrack for the demons because of the Cordners, well because of one of them anyway. The story goes that when my dad was a kid, he didn't tell me how old he was, but he had to go to see a dentist. When he got there the topic of football came up and the dentist mentioned that he was a VFL footballer, dad asked him which team he played for and the reply was 'Melbourne'. He must have made quite an impression on my father as he's been a die hard fan ever since, he even brainwash my sister and I when we were young. He also managed to talk some sense into my mum, who barracked for the blues before she met my dad. He's now 67. I believe it was Donald Cordner, but I'm pretty sure dad got the story wrong as I thought he was just a normal doctor, not a dentist.

If found guilty it's still only $50k, not much compared to Carlton's or even our fine effort of the past.

From my limited knowledge on OP the rehab is a 3 or 4 year ongoing process, designed to ease the sufferer back to full work over that time. I have no knowledge though whether it's flared up again or not.

I presume that the question to this thread is if we were playing in a GF who would you pick between Godfrey and Sylvia. With Godfrey you know what you're going to get, he's a fierce competitor who will always give 100%. Sylvia is still an unknown quantity, he looks capable of anything but is dreadfully inconsisent. For me the answer is simple, Sylvia every day of the week. The reason is that we know what Godfrey is capable of, and sadly (because I love wtching him play) he doesn't have the quality to be a premiership player. Sylvia though is capable of anything, and I'd be willing to roll the dice and play him. Clubs don't get the opportunity to play in GF's all that often and winning one takes a special team with great players. You could throw him into the midfielder and tell him to run through Judd, or you could leave him one out in the goal square.

I wouldn't be surprised if Neaves overtakes both PJ and Jamar very quickly with hsi rucking, imo he's already ahead of them if you compre them at the same age. Anyone know if Ott is still playing?

Interesting bit of info on Charles, as a kid he was a very, very quick sprinter and his old man desperately wanted him to forget his footballing career and concentrate on athletics, as he thought he rigors of it would ruin his body. Guess he was right sadly.

Jace Bode and Simon Buckley are two interesting prospects right now. With McLean, Sylvia, Bell, Bate, Bartram and Jones all playing regular good quality footy if at least one of these kids come through then we will have a very good young midfield group. Added to that the senior guys of McDonald, Bruce, Green, Johnstone and Pickett and it looks pretty rosy all round. We really do have an exciting couple of years ahead of us.

Well, for starters I don't think Johnson has a clue to play the position. He looks lost when he moves away from the forwardline (just my opinion), especially with his centre square work. Jamar looks better with his hitouts but I don't think he knows where to go after that. He seems to get lost around the ground and isn't able to be a 'link' player like White or Cox, perhaps he lacks a big tank? He really should be doing alot more work down back though although this could be a tactic thing. Basically I don't think their work around the ground is good enough to be a number one ruck. From memory Jolly was leading the 'hitout to advantage' stat.

I can see Neaves very quickly overtaking both Jamar and PJ, who in my opinion aren't real ruckman (although Jamar is closer to the mark).

Thanks hendo, at his age it's not really an issue as the club would work on it pretty quickly i'd imagine.

Is it true that he has 'lost in" during games a bit like Jeff Farmer used to do in the past? I didn't want to ask the question generally but considering you've worked with him you'd probably know.

If you listen to people like rhino and seekers it's ok for the Irish to headbut, kick and knee people in the back but not for the aussies to tackle hard and use the hip and shoulder I agree with one thing though, the game is a farce and has no future.

I remember him and his ears, pretty sure he went to the Tiggers with Northey. Not sure if this name has been mentioned but David Schwartz was talking about Tom Cavanagh (not sure on spelling), who was Brent Crosswell's son. Schwarter said he was freakishly talented but had some serious injuries which cut short his career.

CJ is a gun This thread highlights a problem the MFC now has, nice problem it is though. We now have a bit of depth, and from memory that's a first for quite awhile.
