Really surprised Geelong didn't bring in an extra midfield for Parfitt, but instead have stayed with Zac Guthrie who's a half back flanker. Parfitt is Geelongs best defensive mid. They've left the bollocking work to a Selwood and a banged up Dangerfield. Works in our favour.

Yep, sounds like they're banged up. In fairness though, it was most likely their captains runs which is usually pretty chill and low key.

GEELONG will be forced to make one selection call for its clash against Melbourne. Gun midfielder Brandan Parfitt has been ruled out of the rest of his club’s finals campaign due to a hamstring tear that will require surgery. Zach Guthrie, who was subbed in for Parfitt during the semi-final win over the Giants, could be elevated into the starting 22, while Sam Simpson and veterans Shaun Higgins and Luke Dahlhaus are also candidates to replace him. Foxfooty.com.au senior reporter Tom Morris reports Higgins trained with the main midfield group on Thursday while Gryan Miers and Zach Tuohy didn’t train as part of a lighter load this week, but there’s no suggestion they won’t play. Defender Lachie Henderson was put through his paces in what appeared to be a fitness test while Darcy Fort was rucking, with Rhys Stanley running on the side of the session.

I'll need to double check but I'm pretty sure he is?? I like Gunston and think it would be a screwed recruit. But right now personally, if I'm choosing between an up and coming star of the future in Cerra or a guy who's got a bung back at 29 years of age then I know who I'm selecting.

It's certainly looking increasingly unlikely that we'll have the draft capital to satisfy Fremantle unfortunately.

My god this would be a HUGE get for the footy club. Still remember Darren Bewick his Eastern Rangers coach saying he could potentially be in the same calibre as Christian Petracca who he also coached. If anyone watched Cerra this year would know he makes our midfield go up a whole new level next year.

Hibberd doesn't have to go with him up field. We've shown time and time again this year that we are happy for our forwards to drift higher up the field because this leaves the extra defender in Lever in May to sit back.
