  1. Yes, it's another one. Tide us through this final week (well an hour or so of it...) And, @Demonstone, may I suggest it's time we had a dedicated quiz thread (destined to rival NoT$NoB$!) which I believe you should have the honour of creating! You know you want to... Meanwhile, here 'tis: What if Harry, Kozzy and the 2 Toms had not been available for the 2021 AFL Grand Final and Jayden Hunt had come in for Harry, Bailey Laurie had come in for Kozzy, Jake Melksham had come in for TMac, and Nathan Jones had come in for Tom S? Don't worry, though: the team is otherwise as played, and we win. Still 2021 AFL Premiers. Phew! But this scenario completes something for the Women's team that duly become AFLW 2022 Season 7 Premiers. What? (Yes, I do (periodically) have too much time on my hands)
  2. Sustained quality, @Mazer Rackham! Kudos.
  3. Back from sabbatical to say, belatedly, I hope as many of you as possible had meaningful IWDs, reflecting on your own strengths or on the strengths of women in your lives or the world. International Womens Day: Another day closer to fulfilment of the objectives of change and growth it champions. (p.s. Reading all the posts herein, I again reflect how hard I find it to imagine any other team's supporter forum matching ours)
  4. 'Talc', @mo64? I. Don't. Think. So. Somewhere towards the right hand end of the obscurity spectrum, I'd say! Thus, a worthy (though, to me, inaccessible) challenge! (And speaking of obscurity, @Mazer Rackham, 👏 for your contributions. To your respondents, too.)
  5. @Demonstone, @Witches Hat, @Mazer Rackham (I think?), @WalkingCivilWar and - welcome to you, to this crazy band - @mo64 (sorry if I've missed anyone): For reasons of zero interest, I'm sure, my domestic circumstances mean I'm 3 days on, 3 days off in my access to Demonland for other than passing glances. Your recent quizzes seem to be 'dropping' during my sabbaticals and it's been pretty much 'red rover' by the time I've returned! Still, it's been fun catching up, post factum, with everyone's hair pulling, kite flying and fist pumping.
  6. Gee, 'Chunk' gets in a lot of these teams! (Just letting you know I'm here, though only able to hang around the edges of this one atm...)
  7. @Witches Hat, we need all the quiznerds we can get, so I think newbie(?) @Lampers - who, after all, was impressively quick! - should be let off with an in-(quiz)house reprimand. And maybe a little something from the trophy cabinet?
  8. Also, from SEN: "Despite the noteworthy performances [ of 'Gawndy' ], Melbourne convincingly lost the hit-out count to Toby Nankervis and Ivan Soldo and was also defeated in clearances." Any concerns there? Or surprise, at least?
  9. I've only seen highlights of both games, and 'All Of The Goals' for the second, but it didn't look like we were exposed to particularly high-pressure, tackling games, nor required to apply our own. Those who've seen more of the games, do we look capable of the latter and, particularly, will we vulnerable if teams bring the former?
  10. ...though does it count that Stinga got - but never got to debut in - No.17 at the Swans?😁
  11. Thanks for the various follow-ups, @Witches Hat an @Demonstone. No mistakes there, Hat; my Tingay/Charles post was only an (albeit speculative😉) question. My google has 'lost the link' to Demonwiki, Stone, and the other usual sources are short on the info, so I only had recourse to my book. Stinga was No.2 in his pomp in the '90s (pivotal in rusting my children onto the Dees, btw); I certainly couldn't remember him in 15 later on. Stone deserves the silver, Hat. @WalkingCivilWar and I will happily podium, dead-heated, on the third tier, eh, WCW?
  12. Add a special🥈 to the general then, Viper, for going above and beyond...
  13. In what order did Steven Tingay wear 52, 2 and 15 and Sean Charles wear 44, 1, 18? These orders as recorded in my copy of 'Melbourne F.C. Since 1858 - An Illustrated History' (2008), suggest they join Nev and ol' Grimey?...
  14. @Witches Hat, I presume @WalkingCivilWar and I just get a Cotchin no-hard-feelings handshake?
  15. What he said, so I claim silver! We jointly apologise for our lack of quiz etiquette.
  16. Beware Witches Hats bearing 'gifts'...
  17. Now that we have 'All Of The Goals' (crikey, it's like we're in the season proper (he says, on Page 12 of the Post Game thread!) - never have we seen so much interest in practice matches!) I can see MMM let me down (surprise, surprise...) However, I think it's possible the ball bounced vertically just before the post then veered through - or at least that's what the goal umpire determined? It certainly then crossed the line, and the goal umpire gives the 3 chest taps, signalling 'Mine', which would seem to confirm that?
  18. MMM 'call' (I use the word very advisedly) seemed to say it was a downfield free for a push on Spargo after his kick. So not an issue what happened to the ball after?
  19. Bump/liable/nail/head: 🤔 Moses-like would be nice, wouldnt it, Mon! But, no, it was Brian's inspiration I was channelling.
  20. He may have been going for that best-ever, second-to-none part of speech, hyperbole, WCW?
  21. Yes, let's keep it Old Testament. The New Testament image it evokes would be troubling. (flinches, ready for The Project-iles...)
  22. I do like the unfolding deliberate development, apparently, of the midfield/forward 'waxing'(*) between Kozzy and Trac, as a logical up-shift in the team's flexibility and unpredictability and particularly for the increased engagement and centralising of Kozzy in the team and with his brother teammates. (* For you younger folk, that means a turn-for-turn sharing, not a bonding visit to a salon...)
