Petracca in a rut?
Thatâs a worry. Fitness, diet, weight are pretty basic things that even non professional athletes and sportspeople understand.

Petracca in a rut?
Exactly.

Can we compete with the best?
âMy friendâ now thatâs harsh. How often we use it as a put down or a masculine way of asserting ourselves. In short, you are not my friend d....head. How DL, but strangely we still barrack for the same team. It does not sound so bad if you say âmy Demon Friendâ Perhaps it would be more polite to say to Pro Dee, âwith the greatest respect my Demon friend your learned colleague thinks that you are full of yourself and talk complete BS. You donât find the fairer sex using this term. Perhaps B....face I will tear your hair out.

No one needs to feed the machine. Just like this site, folks say stuff. You donât need to reply or comment. Often best to hold your own counsel.

Can we compete with the best?
i also don't think we have stage fright. However, we still have player deficiencies that are exposed when our opponent comes out to play. We simply have some players who aren't good enough or don't play at a consistently high level for sufficient periods of time. In some cases, this may be due to inexperience or lack of maturity but we have a group of fringe players who don't cut the mustard. To quote Captain Blood, "he's a good ordinary footballer." We have a few.

Petracca in a rut?
In a media release, Christian admits he has to lift his game. I get a little tired of these media releases, with players and coaches stating the bleeding obvious or feeling they have to respond to criticisms in the media. Sure, Christian needs to lift, but making these statements will not make it happen. In order to improve his performance he needs to work on his fitness so that he can match the fitness levels exhibited by the stars of the game. Take a look at Dustin Martin, have a look at the way he trains and the extra work he does to improve himself. Martin was once like Petracca, had all the ability but not the application. People and footballers can change. But is needs hard work, lots of hard work, single mindedness, sacrifice and a mind free of distractions He needs to have a good hard look at himself, at others, do the work that is required without compromise and go out on the field and do it, not make statements about it. He can do it, but is he willing?

Can we compete with the best?
Wise words. Many of us tend to be myopic and impatient when looking at our team and view results against our expectations which rise exponentially when we win or string a few wins together. Well it certainly applies to me if no one else. Rationality is diluted by our passion for our team and our impossible demand for constant success. We celebrate success but find it hard to deal with failure. We forget to look at the trials and tribulations that all teams and supporters experience over a season or many seasons. As the old saying goes we are never as good as we think we are (when winning) and never as bad as we think we are (when losing). Resujts are influenced by factors that include experience, injury, fatigue, form, skills, game plan and horrific umpiring. We certainly need to acquire more players with the skills and strength of mind to win matches more consistently. We have a number of players that are not really up to it, players who are over the hill, lacking skills, and who are unable to have consistent form that makes a team formidable such as Richmond.

Clearly, Sir, you are a man in a hurry.

The No T$ No B$ Thread
Well poor old Greg. He disappointed us all with his big chokes in the majors. Now he disappoints again in the body image stakes. This is really the last resort of a desperate man confusing notoriety for publicity. It comes to us all, but there is a time in life when the wise realize that their best days are behind them and it is best to fade into the shadows. When a middle age man has to resort to nudity it shows that wisdom has not caught up with ego. Clearly, his golfing days are now in the distant past. Greg does appear to have a big bit missing. A little like a big bowl of fruit without the presence of the inimitable banana.

Changes v St Kilda
I hope so but my guess is that it will be Weed and Stretch but not Frost.

Changes v St Kilda
No but I watched him closely in the last match against the Dogs and he oozed professionalism and on field leadership. Massive loss. As you say, an impressive young man. An old head on young shoulders.

Changes v St Kilda
Gee thatâs tough OD, hasnât had a lot of opportunities. May not be the next big thing but heâs not that bad. However, I get the sense that he has his report card marked.

Agreed, as a general rule one game at a time does not help the player or the team. It must kill a players confidence to get a game only to be dropped the following week. It is always difficult to determine why some players are favoured with multiple games in the ones when their form is ordinary. There are issues of team balance and playing a role but sometimes you scratch your head and ask why. But it has been going on forever. In terms of the current day, Stretch in particular has been stiff. Please don't select him and drop him the following week.

Oscar vs The Gorillas
Fair comment, but at times he seems to be relaxed to the point of not exhibiting much energy or intensity. Watching him in the warmup against the dogs, unlike some of our other defenders, he appeared switched off. Its not really a criticism, it just is a bit unusual. Itâs the way he is. But I would prefer to see a bit more aggro in a defender.

Endorse these comments. You can make tough decisions, but communicate those decisions in a manner that makes not only good business sense but shows that you have a heart. Respect or acting respectively is important in all relationships even in the tough footy industry.

You both deserved the Badge of Honour or better still the Military Cross.

GAMEDAY - Round 14
Be brave, full Dees kit. Half the fun. In the old days, we would always go into enemy territory with the full kit, and I can tell you, the ferals in those days make todayâs ferals look like bashful gentlemen.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 14
Correct Diamond, never made it that far. As you know, I spent time in Italy, Spain, Cuba , France as well as Idaho and other American states, but never Russia. They obviously know nothing about Hemingway so itâs just a gimmick to get in the gullible tourists, particularly my fellow countrymen who as you know are not all that discerning regarding food choices or literary interests. Probably a hamburger joint. So should be avoided at all costs. One thing I did do when traveling was eat the local village food usually camouflaged in casseroles and stews. Enjoy your travels and have a drink for poor old crumbly Hem.

i do have a weakness in over analyzing these things. Hope your right Daisy, but I was more concerned about the public comments, given that the appointment was played out in the public arena. Everyone knows who the candidates were, so a bit of public praising would not have gone astray given the praising of "the absolute standout candidate."

Unfortunately, despite the logic and reasonableness of your comments, people don't like change. Also, in public administration, there has been increasing support for passive recreation over active recreation, particularly when sporting club/s are involved, even where the area is not heavily used by the public.

I thought Bartlett could have been a little more diplomatic than referring to Pert (an outsider) as the ""absolute standout candidate" given that the internal candidates were all current and valued employees. They would have been understandably disappointed to have missed the top job. A little more empathy would not have gone astray. Bartlett could have publicly praised all the candidates as worthy applicants whilst at the same time stating that Pert was the the Committees preferred candidate given his background, skills and experience, and the responsibilities of the position,
