You missed the irony in my original post. Just a little entertaining social experiment with an outcome that was totally predictable. How whacky off-beat posters suddenly become establishment conservative and resistant to change. So defensive! Look at the Greens now. Just middle class establishment and not a radical or fresh idea in their kitbag. Bananas and a patronising deviant becomes the new normal. Even Rakeleg is sounding so establishment. And Daisy what has become of you ? How many posters post or visit this thread. A dwindling number I suspect because it offers nothing new or interesting. So it has become the repository of the few whose habit has become a life sentence. Just a mundane example of what happens when you challenge the status quo. We need new posters and new thoughts otherwise this thread will die an ignominious death. Some may predecease this thread.

My God, this is desperate stuff, written by a sad and lonely person. All good reasons to close it down bj. I recommend medication. Efexor, Prozac, Lyrica, Lithium, Tegretol, Epilim to name just a few. Epilim is my preference. You will find you can live without this thread. You too Old, just a nightly single malt and a cuddle and you will be right. Even a banana, just don't post about on this thread.

Maybe have a rest until next season. All the posters can have a well earned sabbatical and return to their other interests. A well earned rest from bananas and the peccadilloes of Uncle Bitters. It has become repetitious, predicable and hum drum. It may take on a fresh and new meaning in 2019.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

Assumes Max can play the entire season plus finals. Much bigger hole without our key ruck. Lets say that both are important and key acquisitions. -

I actually think that Preuss is the more important pick up in terms of back up and game day options -
Hmmm, and here am I thinking that this is all a bit of fictional fun!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
hemingway replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Clearly the case, given the players love for the man. You have to have something going for you to gain the love and respect of your playing group. I always thought that Goody lacked emotional intelligence but clearly I am wrong and as you say he keeps the important stuff in house and feeds the media with media speak. -
Winnie would not have approved. A jumper being handed over by a bunch of misogynist ......... Embarrassing. Cringe. Although footy clubs are just that footy clubs not the pinnacle of enlightenment. Leave it to Eddie and the impoverished Carlton to show their desperate need to be in the spotlight. We have to maintain the high ground. .

Good question, I am not sure. Perhaps rather a Jinx. Aside from Dennis Cordner way back in the ether, there have not been many great successes at the Club in this jumper. Certainly not in the last 50 years. For me, Jesse's time in that jumper was a disappointment. And it spent a considerable amount of time in the locker.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
hemingway replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
It gives you a nice warm feeling when you hear May's comments. A coach that the players love, finals success, a destination club etc etc. Its like a new club. But Goodwin is at the centre of it all. -
Hopefully number 1 will get a rest for a year or two.

Uncle, when you stand up in a court of law to answer the charges or offences, it will be difficult to argue a defence of "apparently but not consciously" your Honour. Particularly, once all the witnesses have been called, both participants and observers. You might want to talk to Red who probably went to school with the Judge. And you better hope the Judge is not of the fairer sex. Otherwise you will get a life sentence. Then you will have to entertain yourself in the privacy of your own nice little cell. Although probably not very different from what you get up to in your dungeon at the Manor.

Which open marriage Uncle, I have had a few. Its mainly about disappointment, recriminations, sadness, unrequited desire, selfishness, jealously with a little bit of shame thrown in at the end. Need to know more?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

I remember how good I felt when I saw Big Carl run out in Demon Colours for the first time. We finally had a guy to scare the pants off the opposition. Ray Biffen did also but he created mayhem in the goal square whereas Big Carl was like a marauding Hannibal coming down from the Alps. We are developing a take no prisoners team. -
I had forgotten about that inspiring man! Talking to Jesse about getting his body into shape.

Demonland Podcast Featuring Peter Jackson (17/10)
hemingway replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fairly clear that Jackson was not involved in the selection process or consulted prior to the appointment and announcement. This was obviously deliberate by Bartlett and the Board, but in my view, a mistake. At very least, Jackson should have been asked for his view. Jackson is obviously a good judge of character, meticulous in his approach on all things and has been the mastermind of Melbourne's footy operations rebuild. Talking to Collingwood people there is a mixed view about Pert, and some have suggested that his style could be divisive. My way or the highway. He is said to have a healthy ego. This could not be said of Jackson. Perhaps a reason that Jackson may be less than enthusiastic. Time will tell.- 65 replies

Good insights RJ. Injury aside, i expect significant improvement from Jesse. He has a lot to prove to the footy world particularly in Perth. If he hits early form, he will be a hero to the Freo fans. You would expect him to be settled and happy, and be in a good head space. This will give him every chance to focus on his footy and allow him to hit his straps. Less likely that this would have happened at Melbourne.

Love seeing a rough tough mean looking head in Demon colours. -
I had forgotten how exciting and interesting this thread was until I sneaked on board to have a look. Very reassuring that you are back talking about bananas. So reassuring in these troubled times.

Agreed. Also, reaffirming to see May's comments about Goodwin. May's comments that when he met Goodwin he decided that Melbourne was the club for him, is yet another story that confirms that Goodwin is making his mark on players and the footy world. Early in the year, I was concerned about Goodwin's coaching style, but it looks that I could not be more wrong. The players love Goodwin and want to play for him and the club. And the media are on board. See back page of the HUN. What a difference 12 months makes.

I must admit to feeling completely cold and indifferent to this trade. Usually I feel emotionally tied to players and always hate to see them go. Not a criticism of Jesse just the way I feel. And the Club has gone about its business in an entirely professional manner.
