CASEY: Semi Final vs Frankston
I agree with George's list. I can't agree with Bob that Tholstrup has clean hands. At AFL level all I see is a fumbler. I don't agree with Dazzle and others re Laurie. He's not up to it. A classic list clogger. I also think Jefferson is one of the biggest duds I've ever laid eyes on. But I accept that's not a popular assessment around here.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Of course he's not a good kick. An [censored] knows that. But he's not a poor kick for a ruckman. I said there needed to be context. This site is getting harder and harder to read. It's beyond pointless.

OK. I didn't know that you're disengenuous. Noted. When you said, ''Added to that Gawn is a poor kick and Langdon below average'', am I meant to take it that you're also referring to Langdon's goal-kicking ? Or more likely, his general kicking. You were clearing talking about Gawn's general kicking, and I responded accordingly. Now you're bringing goal-kicking into it. Everyone knows he's not a good set shot, although 2025 was far worse than most other years. You were clearly referencing Gawn's general kicking, which is not ''poor'' for a ruckman as you incorrectly assert.

It's relative for ruckmen. Gawn is not a poor kick. In fact, he's one of the more reliable. His retention rate for kicks is equal second, along with Rowan Marshall, for all main rucks. As an example, it's better than Tim English. While his kicking efficiency percentage is only behind English. Granted, it's not a stat I'm mad on, but for rucks it's as reliable as you're likely to get.

You're describing a prima donna and an i.diot. It's only natural that the i.diot gets cut some slack.

So Oliver's toxic behaviour is down to mental health issues ? There's an excuse for everything these days.

Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
So you agree with me and disagree with me. Both comments were from me. That said, I merely pointed out that Langford might have finished the year well, because he was 19 all year. The poster I quoted called him an ''18 year old''. A little amusing, as he never stepped on the field as an 18 year old. Facts, nuance, and many other things, escape the emotional airheads on here.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
You've come up with a lot of scenarios here, but left out an obvious one. Perhaps, and I have no clue, the club recognises that many of the issues at the club were beyond Richardson's control and that they think things could have been worse if not for his guidance and stewardship. If you're not within the club on a daily basis you wouldn't know.

Rumours
Duursma is one of the classiest young players you'd ever see. Is he soft ? That's the question. But with his talent you'd take the punt every day of the week. Back yourself to shift his mindset, assuming it's required.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Thanks. What other footy acts are weighted the same as a contested mark ? Or do weightings differ on a sliding scale ?

Thanks. So contested marking barely rates ?

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Thanks, Wheelo. Why is Xerri so high in the ratings ? He's a scrubber. He's a very effective scrubber, granted, but a scrubber nonetheless. Are tackles weighted disproportionately ? Is it the clearances ? Gawn averages more disposals, more marks, more contested marks (more contested marks than Xerri's general marks), more intercepts, more score involvements, contested possessions the same, the ruck stats are similar, ... Xerri is a good player, but nowhere near as athletic as Gawn, or the all-rounder that Gawn is. I suppose the eye test is still underrated. Anyway, I'm fascinated why Xerri has such a strong rating.

Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
You've almost nailed my concerns. Viney is a hack with his skills, but even he occasionally kicks on his right. And many, including Bontempelli are proficient. I've never seen Langford even attempt to use it. He needs to improve his gound balls. You got the contested marking right. Plus, he's not as hard at the footy as I expected. Lindsay is far harder at the ball than Langford. Cue the nuffies on here.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
It's not as simple as that. Some players, like Zorko, Gulden and Wanganeen-Milera, will take on incredibly risky kicks that can be invaluable when they work, whereas many players wouldn't even attempt them. It's a junk stat.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
It's not that Wilson necessarily has it in for Melbourne, she just loves old Benny Gale and desperately wants Buckley to coach the Devils due to the Benny love and Richmond connection. That's it in a nutshell.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Smith had a coffee with Buckley prior to round 4.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
I suppose I can now share the following, which I sent as a private message here on April 3 this year: ''I don't often post rumours but I can tell you with certainty that Steven Smith has met for a coffee with Nathan Buckley re potentially coaching the MFC. I can't tell you how the meeting went or if Buckley has any interest, because I don't know. I only know that they met. I won't post this on the main forum because it serves no purpose and could potentially cause (further) instability. It's just not needed at the moment. For me, Smith should conduct this sort of due diligence and I'm glad he's on the front foot. Of course, it may all come to nothing.'' I then heard from a second unrelated source, not long after, that Melbourne was keen on Buckley.

Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
Culley had 9 kicks and kicked it at 88.9% efficiency against West Coast. Admittedly, it's not a metric I like and such a small sample size means little, but do suggest his kicking was an issue on Saturday is pure drivel. Is he too slow ? Maybe. Does he lack production ? Possibly. Will he make it ? I don't know. But it was a nice debut for the club. As a tall marking wingman with another preseason under his belt, and another year on from his ACL, he's an interesting prospect.
