Delistings/trades at end of the season
It was discussed on Demonland at the time. We had 7 top 20 draft picks between 2008 and 2009. It was imperative we get them right. For varying reasons, such as Trengove's foot, all have been a fail. Throw in Morton at pick 4 in 2007 and our drafting set us back 7-8 years. He lucked out with Max Gawn, but a chimp with a dart board would have got one right.

If a player is average and small it's worse than a player who is average and 185 cm. Kennedy is average and small. A good VFL player. I wouldn't have thought this would be a revelation around here. So when I question a potential trade targets height I don't need reminding of the Tony Liberatore's of this world. Btw, you'll forgive me if I don't take the advice of someone who'd happily resurrect Col Sylvia's career.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
I must have said on here for 13 years that "if you're good enough you're tall enough". You then give me a silly reminder of a star who's short. Why waste your time. I saw Harvey as a 19 year old win the Ted Whitten Medal 18 years ago. It's a childish height comparison and I don't need reminding of Harvey's quality. A banal comment you made to equate the two. I get annoyed with such frivolities.

You think Ben Kennedy is in Boomer's class ? Wow. All those years watching footy and you've still no clue. I'd prefer Dean Kent to Kennedy any day of the week.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Every time I open this thread I'm hoping to read news of another NQR having left the building.

Ok, so I'm in the underwhelmed camp when it comes to Melksham. That said, he played his best footy in 2013 with Goodwin as midfield coach when he averaged nigh on 20 disposals and kicked 16 goals, which is none too shabby, It was his 4th year and he'd progressed every year in the system. And then comes Essendon's "saga". Supposedly he's been effected by this shambles as badly as any. I've also read where he's been played out of position and it will flourish more as a genuine mid. In other words... While I'm far from excited about this possibility, the people making the decisions know far more than me; and when I consider their decisions last year, besides Lamumba, they nailed the trade/draft period. So I'll back them again.

Jack Watts had at least as good/better year than this C-grader. Same possessions, more marks, similar goals and overall rating. http://finalsiren.com/PlayerCompare.asp?SeasonID=2015&PlayerName1=Jack+Watts&ExactMatch1=true&PlayerName2=&PlayerName3=&PlayerName4=&Compare=Compare&SelectedPlayers=1997%2C This tells me that we just can't attract anything decent. It falls into the category: We must do something, this is something, therefore, we must do this.

The one and the same, although I prefer Hannabal, but alas, that's a lifetime ago and my poor old dog is dead anyway (she was Hanna for short). Btw, I've never tried to hide this, although some seem to think it's a win if they "out me". Anyway, I'm all about love and peace these days I don't want Melksham, because he's just another C-grader. I accept he has some AFL traits and that Goodwin sees something, but after 6 years I'd rather back the draft. Besides, with Trengove (who I've always rated and believe will make it), plus Petracca, Stretch, ANB, vanDenberg, Kent, Harmes, etc., I think he'll struggle for a game. I didn't want Lumumba and nothing has changed my mind. I'm not averse to genuine class, but I see no point in bringing in more very average players. I'd rather back the draft.
