  1. They can view themselves as however they want, the fact is they are small in comparison to the size of the AFL. I understand the rich history of a lot of these clubs, similar to the WAFL and VFL/VAFA clubs. Unfortunately it’s a different world now to what it was and the AFL is a huge business and generates a lot of revenue. That competition will always be put first and it should be. Obviously they need to be investing in grassroots clubs and these secondary competitions, but they also need to ensure there are rules in place that enable players to get on AFL lists.
  2. The AFL also really need to make their mind up on structuring the second tier competition below the senior comp. The current ‘VFL’ competition is ridiculous with 21 sides, season starting weeks after the AFL, multiple bye rounds, some clubs playing multiple times and then not playing other sides once… Really they should have an Eastern Football League as the 2nds comp and only have the AFL affiliated clubs of the VIC, NSW and QLD clubs to compete.
  3. Well in a way they do, they provide pathways to the AFL. If I’m a player pushing to get on a list I’d much prefer the chances are increased with longer or multiple signing periods.
  4. The AFL is the premier competition in the country and most players in these lower leagues would give their left nut to get a crack. I think the afl need to tell these clubs stiff and perhaps provide some financial support where appropriate. The SSP period should at least run until the week of the season starting at a minimum.
  5. Probably not this year, but clubs are pushing the AFL for next season: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1271028
  6. Nothing yet… I’m guessing we will hear something soon. Fingers crossed it isn’t an ACL.
  7. Ricky posted a photo of his Nan with that hat btw ☺️
  8. Yeah that’s what I thought. Which is consistent with that type of tackle where they are dragged as trying to turn.
  9. F sake… last 2 mins and he gets a full crunch tackle from some pleb
  10. Langford is going to be special
  11. Kayo are counting a goal scored by North during a scenario training where we were 8 points up and had to defend. Technically the score is 54-36 I think
  12. Now they are doing some strange scenario training…. So anyone trying to worry about scores today should chill
  13. I’ve been happy with all of them. Campbell- holding his own against Xerri and is fantastic back up to Max Sharp- has done some nice things and kicked a goal. Has been clean with ball in hand. Langford- smooth mover and knows how to find it Lindsay- similar to Langford without the marking prowess but a bit quicker Johnson hasn’t played yet I don’t think
  14. It’s so bad it’s laughable… thankfully it’s match simulation
  15. No idea. Same thing with that free against sparrow haha. Think these are the d grade umpires
  16. Jefferson showing some good signs. Getting involved
  17. Langford is so smooth for a guy whose 191cm… dare I say bont like
  18. So turns out people meltdown in match simulation threads as well….
  19. Please never leave us Koz…
  20. Yeah it’s a joke… I go halves with a mate
  21. Dangerfield what are you doing on here?
  22. Well 2023 was 3.83m, so a little lower but I get your point.
  23. One interesting stat that I think is one of the most important is the TV viewership for the Grand Finals. NRL 2024 - 3.42m AFL 2024 - 4.024m What that tells me is when it comes to the biggest game of the year, the AFL support is stronger.
  24. It’s also not an exact science with TV viewership as there are a lot of assumptions made, given they don’t track every single TV in Australia. They usually track a small number and then extrapolate out I’ve been told by someone who worked in the ad buying industry.
