GAMEDAY: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
Oliver looks a mile off. Undisciplined and not chasing or working back defensively. So much for a statement game.

TRAINING: Thursday 27th March 2025
I heard that there was no tackling today at training. Goody instead instructed players we are playing touch rugby this weekend.

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Gold Coast
Could be a simple win for Gold Coast providing they capitalise on our huge issues… Midfield- GC to hold width, don’t send too many to the ball, prey on Melbourne on the outside. Half back and half forward to move in waves from behind the ball. Chain out handballs and honour short kicks to space Forwards- Go in small and just ensure eyes are lowered and beat Melbourne on the deck. We are the worst team at defending ground balls. May back will only enhance this Defenders- Zone off and intercept. Defend high balls and use small defenders to exit without pressure.

Time to go Goody?
His stint on AFL360 has shown me, he can not drive a change in game style. Will put my hand up if I’m wrong, but he is not the guy for the rebuild

TRAINING: Tuesday 25 March 2025
Tackling on the weekend highlights their soccer skills.

Troy Chaplin
On the first point, watching Adelaide playing so many tall forwards last week- it was the talls that got up the ground and created space in behind for the smalls. We use our smalls as marking options, when they should be crumbing. The whole system is predictable to the opposition.

Time to go Goody?
“The standard you walk past is the standard you accept”.. Goodwin appears too close to the group, he has lost the whip hand in terms of driving standards. I would rather a poor year, building up for some more success with a new dynamic coach, than trying to buy time with Goodwin.

van Rooyen and Turner to the backline?
Turner should be returned to defence. I do like the idea of May playing forward this year.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs North Melbourne
I think we need to start to plan for the future. Build our side from the back half. For me, Turner, Petty are our future key backs. Tried them forward and it hasn’t worked. Get the right small defenders in place. This for me is Bowey, Rivers and perhaps a Kynan Brown type. Then for now add in a May or Lever for experience. One of these guys to go forward. McVee to replace Rivers when he is back. Midfield should never include all of Tracc, Oliver and Viney. They are too slow and not defensively minded. Need to add in some dare and dash. Lindsey or Windsor to the mix. Forward line needs to be revamped. We need a ruck option forward. So Campbell or Fullerton to play with Roo. Then either May or Lever for this year. Then I’d go small and agile in the front half. This is the area we need to draft next year. Midfield is the real issue, but backline is one area we can sure up quickly. I think we have the players. Midfield with young talent should be the focus and blend our current aging stars

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs North Melbourne
Our flag wasn’t a fluke. I’m not sure how much attributed Goody, to me most was to Burgo, Yze, Choco and the players. I’m sorry if I upset people, but Goody has never struck me as a motivational coach, nor an analytical one. I think he arrived with the right supporting coaches and the list. I think he is not taking us to the next finals, so good time to move on

Time to go Goody?
Only thing saving him is that the players like him. Players always love a soft coach. But not the members

New coach prospects
Would have if it was up to me. Players love him apparently. I love anyone who lets me sit on the coach and do nothing and tell me I’m special

Demon supporters are pathetic…
I was there and felt it might have been closer to 28-30k. Living in regional Victoria this year I’ve committed to 6 games, 3 of which will be the first 3 rounds. Loving the family friendly schedule this year, as I cannot attend night games easily.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Fremantle
Negatives- Backline look to panic and cannot handle fast entry. Howes, Lever and Bowey shouldn’t play together. Billings is not in our best 25. Koz will be missed the first few rounds. Positives- Trac and Oliver look to have the chemistry back. Clearances are our biggest asset and will allow us to setup behind the ball! We have found Pedo 2.0 in Johnson. Works hard, competes hard.
