I played soccer for 20 years and I would say there is no benefit aside from general foot/eye coordination. I would say we play these games to mentally refresh, loosen the body and have fun. It is one of those things that people look at when you are losing and not if you are winning. Goal kicking is largely mental, these are professional athletes. Fristch is one of the best kicks for goal technically I have seen. He is missing due to pressure and the how tough footy is mentally.

This is not a plausible narrative. Goodwin has been Senior Coach for 4 years prior to the flag, making all key decisions. In his first match, there were only 8 of the premiership players in the team. Blokes likes Billy Stretch, Watts, Weid, Hannan playing. You act as if this was Chris Scott taking over a premiership team! We hadn't made finals for 10 years. Roos did a great job taking us from a basket case to a decent, well run team. Make no mistake, Simon Goodwin was instrumental in our flag and to state otherwise is disrespectful and foolish.

I agree it is time for a change with Goodwin, or soon at least However, tactically Goodwin did well against the Hawks. Which has been the biggest knock on him. If we kicked straight we would have been up by 5 goals at 3/4 time. The issues were kicking for goal and failing to run out the game. Some of which falls on Goodwin and some of which falls on the fitness staff and the players themselves Do I blame Goodwin because a 29yo player like Fritsch missed 2 easy goals? No I do not. They are professional players, they should all be able to kick for goal as a minimum requirement and practice more if they need it

Unless you are Kozzi, increase the angle and snap with your left for an easy goal One of the many terrible kicks for goal on the day. We are meant to be professional football players. Kicking for goal should be something that is a given when you've played the game your whole life

Even when they had Hogan, Riccardi, Stringer etc all out injured he wasn't even an emergency Why bother blocking him if he will never get a game? With Lever and Hore constantly injured, if he ends up being a backman, we could use another interceptor and leave Turner fwd

Sorry I was being sarcastic. Goody didn’t trade him away. He was a troubled young man who went through cancer and the death of his father and lost his way It was 4-5 years until he started played good footy again

We proved our new game plan is promising and developing and had we kicked straight we would have been 30 pts up at 3/4 time and would have won imo So a tick for the Coaches and game plan No tick for the last Q fall away and horrific kicking for goal. This is not coaching related imo. Senior players should be able to manage their nerves and technique under pressure. We had teenager show the old blokes how to do it
