  4. I honestly don’t give AF When we were successful it was thursday and saturday nights I’d prefer day games. But [censored] em. Any day watching the mighty demons is a good day

  8. Crazy to have a Qualifying final on Sunday 1pm. Should be Saturday night at IKON in front of a big crowd. No sport on at the moment, so would be great for TV ratings and exposure Regardless should be a great game and hope the girls get up
  9. DubDee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
    Say no to Cox
  10. Zanker especially stiff, plus Macca Zanker 4th in goal kicking in the comp but the quality the getting better across the comp at a rate of knots
  11. Swans a lock for top 4 and my tip for the flag Hawks barely made the 8 and haven’t improved their list so I don’t see much improvement- 6-10th Attack of the interstate teams!! Lions, Crows, Swans, Freo, GC, Giants all top 8 Pies to fall hard. Cats to follow trend of GF losers missing finals Dogs the biggest chance for Vic. Darcy to go close to a 100 goals and be the best player in the comp by years end Demons to surprise many with 10-13 wins. cusp of finals
  12. I agree with all this. But the stand rule has noticeably increased the speed of the game and made ball movement easier and enabled kicks into the corridor and more shots on goal from 50m. The enforcement of it, is an issue however.
  13. Giants really are a bizarre club. Block the trade of this guy for no reason and then delist him.
  14. What about this appointment makes you think this? Not a fan of Smith?
  15. Can't believe they didn't look to clarify the Advantage rule. Whistle blows, stop play. One guy grabs ball and plays on. Sometimes brought back if it doesn't work out as advantage, other times it is play on Unless it is instantaneous play on then you take your free kick. You can't wait 5 seconds and then decide to play on. I have zero clarity on this rule and it really pisses me off
  16. I don't get people not liking the stand rule Previously players moved side to side and even forward to prevent players playing on. The game has improved in this area with more quick ball movement and more long shots at goal My only issue with it is in big games the players can't hear the umpires yell stand
  17. So now we expect the umpires to judge if a players tries hard enough to keep the ball in? A bloke 30m away could sprint and keep it in. He goes at 70% pace and the ball rolls out. The AFL make a mockery of our game once again
  18. So many demons fans traumatised by poor key position draft selections over the past 10 years Doesn't change the fact that we need a quality KPF Having said that, no idea if this bloke is any good. But I won't be discounting him based on his position
  19. Welcome aboard Steven! Great that you will be with us in a few weeks. And thanks to Greeny for doing a very solid job as a novice.
  20. Agree this rule has potential to be a shambles at AFL level. 1 minute left in the game, a team kicks in down the line to a 1-1 contest. The defender would be crazy to not shepperd the ball out of bounds (if possible) and get the free kick to win the game And those saying this rule change will stop the bad insufficient intent calls are wrong as they will still be there inside 50 which are the most painful ones
  21. I believe change is stating that a shrug will be the prior opportunity
  22. That sounds good and agree this is the intent. But Aussie Rules has a history of implementing a rule that makes sense in theory but is extremely hard to officiate leading to more frustrating free kicks. If it is as described in the OP, if a player is tackled, he tries to shrug it and the tackle sticks, it will be a free kick. So players may have to be advised to take the tackle. Takes a fair bit away from the contest of the game.
  23. So a bloke is tackled and it’s in his best interest to not try to break the tackle? just stand there like a dead fish? Some of these changes are good but this is terrible. Viney will cost us 5 frees a game
  24. Thanks for that, great insights So the PA and CBA doesn't help players in this instance, just denies them access to the club, coaches and facilities while they do the running portion of preseason. Also makes it harder to keep tabs on the players that are likely to go off the rails without structure.
  25. True, but I reckon 3 months is too long away from the club. Must be hard for the players to maintain fitness without coaches and being at the club The PA should concentrate on fixing issues like clubs delisting players and rehiring them on the rookie list. My company can't sack permanent employees and rehire them as contractors (sorta similar example)
