First child born on Thursday so her indoctrination as a little Demon starts tonight.
Winnie and Daddy will be barracking hard from the couch! Will of course be trying to be on my best behaviour…
Hunter to play a blinder - Dees by 18 points.
Congrats!

Seems odd to me, in the age of Optus and Medibank data hacks being in peoples consciousness seems like a weird play and just likely to antagonize a lot of members. The Club's official statements can easily align with that (and seem to be right now).
That's without really understanding wtf is going on. Can anyone write up a few dot points for us numpties?
Apologies if already covered.

Call me a silly bugger, but....
I'm more interested in Gawn going back more like 2021 and Grundy being the more aggressive ruckman kicking to (hopefully) JVR, BBB and TMac.

Sucked in on day 1 of trade radio and heard the genius Brenton Sanderson give his take on how Grundy gets to us and Jackson to Freo.
Pick 13 from Freo to Melbourne for Jackson
Ontrade pick 13 to Collingwood for Grundy.
And… he suggested pies may need something more from us, like second rounder or a player eg: Weids!!!
to cap off his work, he says he can’t see how Grundy improves Melbourne.

Watched it today with a Swans mate, he was joking about his margin ticket at the start of the game (it was 79) and then at least had something to watch for in the last quarter and then that didn't go well.
It was all about working out how to beat us in coming up to the big dance, teams did that, then the best general football performance won it.
P.S. I would love to see what our small forwards could do with a couple of KPFs running around next year so they can do their work not around 12 blokes in a pocket. Not entirely relevant, but it is a bit :)

I reckon Bowey will come out snorting fire.
Not that anyone will notice once it gets to his hairline.

That's no nothing. I don't reckon that the tribunal that deliberated for 4.5 hours even watched the Cripps incident.
Let's them keep an open mind I guess haha.

Gus is much craftier than our other mids. He's also a solid D as we've seen all year but doesn't offer the line breaking run of Hibberd (to a lessor extent but it's still there), Hunt or, at times, Rivers.
Quick reaction time and smarts in terms of decision making (handball vs quick kick vs roll and gun vs the old one/two). Certainly has more tricks in his bag.
Speaking of Hibberd i thought he was super tonight.
I reckon Hibberd should get another run around next year.
Gus in the midfield let's Salem do his job too (as the half back link up). If we absolutely have to wouldn't mind him going back to a defensive wing position.
We have the cattle it's just putting them in the right paddock.

Gus in the guts. 😍😍
Sure it was because of Harmes not being available but there were a few other tweaks tonight as well.
Kick in's were not as predictable for one.

I reckon Dunstan goes alright.
But I wouldn't mind his number either.
I'm after some lamb chops, some nice eye fillet, rump steak and chuck steak for my casseroles.*
*seriously hope he can fix up his disposal.

Our lack of run and legs has been very concerning.
Loading.

*not entirely taking the pizzle but might be as well. I'm confused.

That was hard to watch I spent more time trying to figure out who was on what team rather than watch the flow of play.

We worked ourselves into the game tonight... and did Dee things.
Even tho we were 3 goals up in our losses, I don't think we were really building at any stage of those games. A couple of players did good things (how good is Brayshaw btw?) but with injuries in our KPD stocks, we ended up cooked.
Hard, creative and ran the pants off Brisbane tonight. We looked fit again.
Long may it continue.

Plus I think Eddie is very sad that his "lateral" thinking about Norf being the Tassie team didn't go anywhere except to derision land.

I'm not worried yet, but jeez there is some stuff to be worked on.
Skill errors cost us big time in that last quarter.
Tracc is not right at the moment.
When we lose a defensive spine player we really really struggle.
These things are outside of our control or can be fixed, so with the above going right I think we'll be fine.
The real problems I see are;
BBB cannot go up against 3 or 4 defenders, maybe his running/leading patterns aren't right, but it's gonna come out quick if we keep kicking it to 3-4 on ones with no-one else around the ball in our forward line.
We can't rely on Max to do everything (but he was enormous tonight).
That leads to my final question, rather than a point. Have we stopped being creative? I'm a huge fan of our system, but when a side kicks a point or we do take a mark just outside of the D50 it seems really obvious how we are looking to kick the ball. I was with my Sydney supporting mate tonight he started laughing as I called where every kick would go over and over. Last year we would take the long kicks and be confident someone would mark it, it's just not happening enough now so maybe worth a bit of change? Tonight the players looked like they were playing to a very specific game plan when even a look inside would have seen Dees players in space for a much easier mark. I only watch the games on TV so maybe I'm missing something.
I loved Kozzie's work rate tonight and it was great seeing Salem back, 10-2 just before the bye is something I could only ever dream of prior to last year and I think we were better than our game against Fremantle tonight. There's some work to do, but we can certainly build back into the beast we were at the end of 2021.

I know there were a lot of names tonight.
But holy dog, Lever is something else.
Plays bigger than his frame suggests, fends off, gets to the right spot and has a really big kick.
What a player.
