  1. I think we should give James Hird a break for the time being. I have no time for him and consider him a liar and a cheat, but at this time we should talk about other issues. If his family keep breaking their please leave us alone request then we can reopen the flood gates.
  2. The fat lady will never sing. This saga will never end.
  3. He just needs to keep it out of the way.
  4. I read this and all I can say is, to and fro.
  5. Yes DC, that was me. I have been busy over the break.
  6. On first read I thought it a clever circumvention of the auto censor, then I thought oh no it's Formally Know As, on reflection I think you meant the former.
  7. Good on you Dino, others here rely solely on their personalities.
  8. Maximum list 47 players. So we go into the season minus our 47th best player, or an injured Prince that would not play. Move on. Edit:- If we have no injuries we are unlikely to need an upgraded rookie, if we have injuries we can. Simple.
  9. I presume if the ruckmen cannot get to the errant bounce or throw in then the scenario of third man up is not possible (no penalty). If the ruckmen can get to the contest then a third man up is penalized. My question, what if there are two third man ups one from each side?
  10. From The Age http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/new-statistics-gave-afl-the-evidence-to-ban-third-man-up-at-ruck-contests-20161221-gtg22x.html "Revealing new statistics, which show that the "third man up" does not help ease congestion, were the reason the AFL gave the green light to ban the tactic from next season." The banning of the third man up will help us and improve the game. I like ruckmen and ruck duals.
  11. Another upside is that it may open the door for having a real 2nd ruckman. Spence better polish his boots.
  12. Thanks Sandra, perhaps he will return next year at Geelong, they have a place for him now that Mitch Clark has gone.
  13. He could stay on the list and not play (due to medical advice) and be paid. His decision to retire is his decision, I think some payout would be made. I think it possible for anyone to get medical advice suggesting that playing AFL is dangerous. He has no ongoing concussion symptoms and no signs of long term damage. We move on.
  14. Interestingly written. Does not discuss any payout. The club reinforces its stance we have done everything we could and he leaves in a healthy condition of his own volition. Edit: but
  15. Pedo at 193cm 98kg John Nichols 189cm 105kg Polly Farmer 191cm 94kg How times have changed. Adam Goodes played in the ruck at 194cm and now you need to be 200cm plus.
  16. Around the ground the relief ruckman can be an extra midfielder like Bernie, remember we have Lewis as the third man up. Centre bounces Watts or Frost could work. Personally I would go with Spencer, give a Gawn/Spencer combo the first 4/5 games together and stretch the opposition, If we start to dominate the clearances we make them play two dinosaurs as well. Gawn can take marks forward when resting and opposition sides would have to cover Spence. In the wet one ruckman and Pedo
  17. Keep in mind that he could have a training accident (like the last unseen incident) and another concussion, we don't want that.
  18. Yes agree with the above , but Trainng?
  19. A moot point really, the coaches think it is the way to go. From Saty in the training thread " I asked both Goody and Macca they want a team that can kick both sides to keep ball going forward, non preferred practice will be staying"
  20. Never played Thrice? At a stoppage, you gain possession and exit the defensive side of the pack, there are no clear players, as a right footer you turn left (anti clockwise) and the opposition knows that, what do you do? You go clockwise and kick on your left surprising the opposition. It only needs to work once a game or to do it once a game and the opposition have more difficulty trying to stop you. If every player does it once per game the opposition will have no idea where to defend at stoppages. It is another tool that every player should have, it spooks the opposition. It does not have to be as good as the preferred side just an option.
  21. My son playing in a GVFL final is right footed. About 45 from goal at a stoppage they prepared for him to turn onto his right, he turned on to his left and goaled. For the rest of the match at stoppages they were saying watch him he is a leftie. It makes a big difference if you can turn and kick on both sides. All players should have the NP option.
  22. I thought about it once but I changed my mind, too dangerous.
  23. I am almost twice Col's age and to date I am yet to fall off a balcony. I have done silly things. What was he doing and where did it happen? How do you fall off a balcony? Get well soon Col.
