  1. Old King Cnut was a bit of a legend at our house (My wife is Norwegian-hence spelling) Other than the tide he had a few victories and was grandson of good old Harald Bluetooth. He probably handed out more merde sandwiches than had to eat. Cnut received bad advice re the tide, I would not be so generous with EFC
  2. [censored] or clusterfuk comes to mind. No matter how you look at it, it is a self inflicted would, let them bleed out. Sounds like Essendon to me.
  3. Read it. It s a good article, thanks biggestred. http://www.news.com.au/national/football-stars-are-not-special-cases-in-drug-probes/story-e6frfkp9-1226921887341
  4. All this back slapping! I for one would like to thank the AFL for getting us Peter Jackson and by extension Paul Roos. The AFL are much maligned and they often deserve it, but they have done our club an enormous favour. Thank you AFL.
  5. Not only Chip, what about Gawny check out his stats compared to NicNats, Gawn must be worth $1.5mill per season. Gawn gets more kicks, more handballs, more hit outs, more goal assists and over 3 times as many contested marks! So is Gawn that good or is NicNat overrated? Stats- Footywire. http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?tid1=12&pid1=3346&tid2=19&pid2=3108&type=A&fid1=S&fid2=S
  6. Thanks Arrow, but you sure know how to kill an argument. Too many facts for some. Still hearsay, but strangely I trust you more than the media.
  7. In my opinion Barrett is a barrett. Auto sensor that! He is low down slimy barrett. A barrett bag. A barrett head. A dirty barrett barrett. That is the worst insult that I now use.
  8. They are trying to bait people. Only a troglodyte would put the birth of a first born behind a game of footy. If they were married I bet they would not share that belief within their own family. If not married, that would explain it.
  9. P-man, as I said earlier it is not only what is said but how it is said. I have a dear friend that I call "old fossil" it is said with affection and respect. If it was reported that I called my mate an old fossil it would appear to be disrespectful. I am very skeptical about what I read & hear in the media, and to have a strong opinion based solely on media reporting is hazardous in my opinion. Edit- add solely
  10. Well that is heresay I'm afraid. Did you here him say it? If so, not heresay. If it was reported that he said..... that is heresay. Sadly direct quotes in the media gives little or no weight. My personal experience with media reporting is that they are often inaccurate, incomplete or fallacious. (Think Damian Barrett) Edit: Add - often & Damian Barrett
  11. I read these lovers spats and quietly laugh to myself. But seriously PMan you base your comments about Welsch on hearsay. Saty was there and I think he has the moral high ground in this spat. It is not only what is said but how it was said. As for being critical of players I think Saty leans toward feint praise.
  12. We could draft a Jones girl, could be tougher than many blokes.
  13. How about we add to the lexicon. That Scully is a barrett. Or Collingwood supporters are barretts. I need to go to the toilet to do a big barrett because i have a bad case of the barretts. If you don't agree then you are a big barrett you rat barrett barrett. No offence to the reader. If you take offence go barrett yourself.
  14. When correcting someone get it right. You're going to embarrass yourself if you get it wrong. Perhaps I'm wrong and his 8 writes and he is trying to emulate it. Edit: When being a smart ars# check for typos! Egg on face!
  15. He is such a great bloke that he organised his missus to give birth during the bye. Well done skip. Let's hope its a boy and all is well with the Jones's
  16. Is there a doctor in the house? Induce the future father son this week.
  17. Yes, but you can't kill a HiLux and those Pontiac's have just disappeared. The mighty boy never did grow up.
  18. http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?tid1=12&pid1=3107&tid2=19&pid2=3108&type=A&fid1=S&fid2=S For all those Jack Watts haters, look at the footy wire link. If you think the comparison is unfair because it is based on stats go cry somewhere else. Supercoach AFL Fantasy Jack is in front. And they want to offer the dreadlocks over a million a year! And Jack signed on with us for much less. We won big time. Get off Jacks back, and learn to appreciate what a rare gem we have. And Watts will continue to improve.
  19. 2009 Draft MFC 1 Scully - loser gone 2 Trengove - injured - we hope he returns 11 Gysberts - gone 18 Tapscott - going? 34 Max Gawn - could be the best of the draft for us - go figure 50 Fitzpatrick - could be second best. Sometimes the late picks can pay off, specially the big blokes.
  20. If his name was NicNat they would be casting a bronze statute of him at the G by now. http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?tid1=12&pid1=3346&tid2=19&pid2=3108&type=A&fid1=S&fid2=S Could not copy table, but have a look. NB: Max Gawn has a higher AFL fantasy price than Nic Nat and a higher supercaoch score. Stats thanks to Footywire.
  21. Saw an interview of an MFC official (can't remember who) who was talking in general terms about the draft. About 4-5 years ago. So second hand. I don't think Hogan is gone, but I also think Mitch Clark could come back.
  22. A discussion like. "You can pick the brick, have him for 2 years then he will come home. Then we can pick (Whitfield/Martin/O'Rourke) and have them both. Is it worth the risk?" Could have taken place. Nic Nat told Melbourne recruiters when asked how he would feel about being drafted by MFC. "It's only for two years the I can go home". These comments could be considered compromising the draft, they do take place and more regularly than many would think..
  23. My son the Richmond supporter was complaining about the standard of the game at quarter time, I said that with Roos coaching we drag sides down to our level and then we beat them with experience. An oldie but it seemed appropriate and prophetic.
  24. Eyesight on the way out, probably goes to the same optometrist as the umpires.
