  1. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
  2. If he got Wines we wouldn't have Tyson, Salem, Brayshaw and a whole heap of first year players. Is Wines good? Absolutely. But.. Let's give these other kids time, stop crying over spilt milk. I don't even include Toumpas in the equation, I never have, I just see it as - things have panned out for us in other ways. Look at the bright side. Just like losing Scully, there is a bright side. Christian Salem will be twice the player Ollie Wines will be, that isn't to downplay Wines either. If we'd of landed Wines, who knows whether we'd of been in a position to land the messiah (Salem) and Tyson.
  3. Add Luke Parker to that. Overlooking the Vic Metro Captain in Parker when we were a club deficient of leaders. I think to me that was the big one. Rockliff is every clubs mistake - bar one, and Sloane wasn't the player that he is today. Luke Parker was a big miss for this club.

I'd do it just to ensure Roos hung around for the next 5 years. Not only that, but we have Viney, Stretch, Lovett on the way. Would be good to have a band of these kids.G Roos was arguably a better player than those guys, so for those big on bloodlines - it is appealing.

Is he expected to be drafted? I assume our pick in the 50's is earmarked for him. I haven't heard a lot about the kid.
  6. If St Kilda do take Petracca with pick 1, it wouldn't be a bad idea if we taken McCartin with pick 2. We have Hogan coming through, to add McCartin to that would be massive. We will have developing mids in Viney, Tyson, Salem, Brayshaw - and arguably Toumpas. MFC would have 2 bustling forwards, not just any type of forwards - but old school, bustling, dominate fowards. So I don't think it is the end of the world if St Kilda do take Petracca, they'll only be shooting themselves in the foot. Membry isn't going to solve their problems, he is a small forward and probably even better suited to a midfield role. Over the trade period we have seen how valuable forwards can be - with the Bullies parting with their captain and high draft picks just to get one.

Those who had Beams in their supercoach sides and watched him closely - will be happy to see this trade happen. Footballers footballer. Goal kicking midfielder, gets his ball on the inside and out. I thought he was Collingwoods best this year. Exceptional player and extremely unlikely pick 3 would become half the player Beams is.

Yeah, I get that, doesn't hurt to offer. Beams is exactly the type of player we need running through the midfield.

3 and 12 would get it done for Beams.
  10. If St Kilda grab Petracca, I think McCartin and Brayshaw are also no brainers. Just look how desperate the Bullies are to get their hands on a good forward. We'd then have a couple of 10 year forwards and our midfield is taking shape. I think we'll only trade our picks for the right deal - Shiel, Treloar, or a player of that calibre.
  11. This would be awesome. We are Melbourne, the whole lot of it. I love this sh*t. The AFL can try minimise MFC, but we are making some nice inroads with these ideas. We are really lucky to have PJ, Barlett and Roos, they all play their roles so well, going about their business.
  12. It is interesting. I spoke to a mate about Petracca the other day, he was massive on CP. The same guy didn't buy into the Toumpas hype and thought Wines was a safer option - and a beast. I asked him what is the difference between Toumpas hype Vs Petracca hype. He just said as an overall athlete, CP is panels ahead of Toumpas, and that CP is dominant in more areas - just not quite as good of a kick. He seemed to know more about Petracca as a basketballer and mentioned that he is worth taking the risk, and that he was a special athlete. Whereas he never seen that in Toumpas, yet he went early. Anyway for what it is worth, I'm more sold on Brayshaw, but that is off very limited viewing this year - of both players. In saying that, if Petracca is that good, he'll go pick 1 anyway.
  13. Keep the pick and hope Petracca is there. If he isn't - then take Brayshaw. I think Brayshaw is a safe selection.
  14. Roos has already stated that we need class through the midfield. So I think we are very well placed. If Petracca lasts till pick 2, we take him... Otherwise we take Brayshaw. Personally, I'd take Brayshaw, he is a dual sided, contested ball and skillful player. But.. I understand the hype about Petracca, he has made massive inroads this year. Big bodied kid, explosive, athletic, loves a goal and appears to have that natural - freakish - talent. Happy with either these guys, would be a dream to land both. For what it is worth, I think St Kilda might take Wright.
  15. Actually Kelly was most effective early, he was busiest in the first 2 quarters.
  16. He looks a top notch ruckman and top notch forward. This guy is reasonably safe. Not as safe as Brayshaw, but he is safer than past ruckman who were taken early and failed - ala: Tyrone Vickery. Wright appears to be a safer selection IMO. In saying that, we do need mids and our early picks should be to gain mids. I personally think Tom Mitchell would run rings around any early selection available in this draft. Not sure we'd have to give up an early pick for Mitchell either.
  17. Wright would be a safer pick than some of the other forwards IMO. Should make it as a first class ruckman alone. I like Brayshaw though, kid has skills, toughness and can find the pill.
  18. I'm just completely sold on Brayshaw. IMO Brayshaw is better inside than Petracca - which transfers better to the AFL game. Also, Brayshaw is dual sided, just as good on his left - as he is on his right. My knock on Brayshaw would be that he tends to just hack it on his boot out of the pack. And I will be interested to see what Brayshaw tests for the sprints - he doesn't appear overly quick. Petracca on the other hand is blistering, explosive and tends to find space. But not a great kick, I won't knock that. I would take Brayshaw ahead of Petracca, I think Brayshaw has the skill set and game similar to Wines/Martin.
  19. I'd like to see us try snare O'Rourke and Plowman in the one deal. Shiel and Kelly the cream of the GWS crop for mine, but unlikely we'll be able to entice them back home atm.
  20. Petracca, Brayshaw or trade it.
  21. Ahern is a good user of the football.
  22. I think Durdin is the pick of the big men. Durdin has a bit of X-factor about him. Versatile player, can take a grab, can leap, has the right attributes. But I'd still lean towards Petracca or Brayshaw at our pick.
  23. If we believe what we see, then Ahern is a top 5 pick. Did he just have a good champs? Not sure.. But either way, he looks absolute class. I like him, I like the suggestion of trading away 4 and 24 - for 11, 15 and 31. Ahern and Laverde could be around that mark. I also liked Lucas Webb, he was ultra clean, It would be a dream to land him late
  24. It was dead, but Gil is a St Kilda supporter, so expect to see a PP revival in the next couple of years.
  25. No complaints, I think Lamb is a good prospect, versatile and apparently runs a 16 beep test.
