  1. Grow up then and ignore it, why should he have to change because a few don't like it, why don't those few change instead???

Why don't you grow up & ignore the fact I disagree with you?

    Idiotic sentiment.

It is funny though, how those that pray at the altar of Saty get their knickers in a twist whenever he faces a bit of criticism.

It's similar to his own sycophantism.

Oh bugger it - I'm converted.

    He can do no wrong!

  2. My instinctual reaction was annoyance when I heard PJ say we were aiming for finals in 2016.

I've since come to see it as not putting limits on 2015, but setting realistic expectations that we should play finals in 2016.

It's different to what we're used to, but I think he's setting expectations that we can genuinely be angry at not meeting, as opposed to the often unrealistic goals of the past, such a GF in the next 4 years, or being the "team of the decade."

We're obviously working towards these lofty goals, but in the meantime we're setting realistic achievable short term goals to work towards.

    I don't think that's a bad thing.

Wouldn't it be amazing to say we actually achieved one of these targets one day?

I know we shouldn't underestimate what we can achieve, but we have to remember where we are starting from also.

  3. In the money section of last night, PJ mentioned $124,000 returned to the MFC from an insurance company. He said it was to do with an AFL investigation. I can only assume it was the tanking. Does anybody have any idea what this is about?

I would have guessed it was Daniel Bell-related.

That "twit" was a past player whose number was originally inherited by Jimmy Stynes (viz. No. 37)!

Being a former player doesn't make him any more or any less ignorant.

Did he maybe suffer a lot of concussions in his playing days..?

  4. I admit I replied hastily to Machsy's post, Moon.

But regarding his dislike of Saty's positive attitude and desire to see him fall and be brought down is disgusting. There are people who dislike how Saty does his reports, and that's fine. But to want him to fail is a cu*t of a thing to say.

I don't want anyone to fail.

I desperately want Saty to stop the sugary-sweet sycophantism, because beyond that, his reports are very useful and entertaining.

How is it that hard to understand?

    FMD.

  5. so machsy found a car park and made it there after all

No, but I was there facepalming when that twit asked the question.

What a complete and utter ignoramus.

Really a set up for Petracca.

They asked him and Brayshaw what his first impression was of the club.

He said the TAC were slowly bridging the gap so the step up to AFL standard wasn't so huge.

Brayshaw then jumped in and said Christian really felt the first day when the running was pretty full on and he struggled.

Roos then asked them both who were they looking up to within the club to model themselves on.

Petracca said it was Jack Viney. He loves the way he trains and plays.

Brayshaw said it was Nate Jones, he is lucky enough to be living with him. They do a lot of running together and also have bets on the side at goal kicking. He is losing a bit of money at the moment.

They both have really picked 2 great role models.

Brayshaw said he lives near Nathan Jones, but the point still stands.

  6. Which part? Machsy trying to pose as an intellectual by using big words or the fact that his dislike of TDI's reports has him wishing players of the Team he follows are failures (almost), but only at this time of year.

The words too big for you?

Just because you don't know what they mean, doesn't mean they weren't the appropriate words to use in this instance.

Now because some are not good with subtlety... I wish Saty would be proved conclusively wrong in some way, so he'd cut back on the overzealous support he has for anything MFC. Much like when Neeld was sacked, but nothing lasts forever.

At this time of year, when there's little else to read, the posters from Maroochydore were a god-send with their honest and pragmatic views of training in comparison to his sickeningly sweet chocolate coated reports.

I won't hold my breath waiting for you to get it.

  7. A slightly better man's Alex Georgio! Not in my best 2015 team, says plenty! Would want to have a MONSTER year to justify staying on list IMO

Christ, you could set your watch by how often you get it completely wrong.

Looking forward to seeing Frawley play for the cats this season?

  8. You are posting on a board that demands Watts get physical, and then you put this, every team needs a [censored] in defence, Dunny gets up forwards noses, you will notice he hardly ever gets reported, he knows how to do it just inside the letter of the law,, I don't want him to change

Old "Jumper Punch" Dunn? Vice Captain? Scandalous!

    Yes, he has changed, dramatically.

    And good on him.

The interesting part of your post though, is where you misconstrue false bravado and jumper punches as the physicality people want to see from Watts. Try not to be such a shameless sycophant, will you? Have some self respect, man!

  9. Yes but most of those have not been to training, and just write off a player on the past, Nev Jetta/Dunn/Pedersen being the perfect examples in the last couple of years, I can't wait for the humble pie posts when one of the above surprises

And to give another example Newton had an off day today, don't know what the problem was, he was horrible, helicopter handballs, missed kicks etc

The worst thing about your ubiquitous sycophantic waffle is that it becomes so tedious that I almost want guys like McKenzie to fail at this time of the year.

  10. Yes. Let's judge his leadership based on one not so good choice that upset a few people.

It wasn't a spur of the moment decision, plenty of time to realise it was a carp idea.

He shouldn't be hung on one decision, but it's a recent example of a lack of decent decision-making.

Yeah it was a pretty horrible thing that they did. I hope he's sorry and apologised.

Are you really trying to compare the Charlie Hedbo saga to making light of child abuse?

I'm all for Charlie Hedbo and offending anyone for their stubborn and idiotic beliefs, but making light of child abuse victims is the type of offensive behaviour we should all be against.

  11. I'm convinced that good ol Barry was convinced that we'd get one of either Prestia or Lynch, maybe even strike it lucky with Heppell (as GC were spooked by reports of dodgy groins, and Hird was making last minute visits, flying to see Atley the day before the draft) and with Cook as our backup to the backup plan.

Problem is, Cook was the worst backup plan you could conceive, mostly based on things like his being named as AA U/18 CHF (at Darling's expense after a sub-expectations top-age year) and not his psych profile.

  12. I think it's the Brad Hill or Isaac Smith type, that stretches an opposition's defense by continually finding space and linking ball movement, preventing it from getting stagnant.

Personally, I think Brad Hill is more integral to Hawthorn's future success than any other player at this stage.

Opponents can't stay with him, and it means they can't stifle the Hawks' ball movement.

  13. Betting agencies seldom get these things wrong.

I think the Dees will be three spots higher but small amount of nit picking on my part.

Obviously you don't recall 2007 when we were installed as premiership favourite from the Victorian clubs at the beginning of the season..?

I'd love to know where they had Port placed over the last 2 preseasons, too.

  14. Doesn't go down that far on my computer, the last comment I can see is from 'jarradb3'. No conspiracy here mate, please feel free to enlighten me on what I'm missing.

Both Harmes and Hogan came to the defense of Clark, making it crystal clear they were just joking and still mates, after some heroes jumped in to give Clark a gobful.

It's petty, it's ugly, it's bloody ignorant and it's really tired already... Lets all just move on gracefully.
