2019 Player Reviews: #34 Marty Hore
“He showed he’s a very capable AFL player. He’s a very balanced person, he’s mature, he’s played a lot of VFL footy and he was just ready for the next step. As he got more and more experience, he looked more and more comfortable at AFL level. He had a little stint of injury and had to go through the VFL again, but finished the year strong by working his way back into the AFL team.” - Matt Egan MFC Head of Player Development An update on the first-year Demons Date of Birth: 5 March, 1996 Height: 190cm Weight: 84kg Games MFC 2019: 14 Career Total: 14 Goals MFC 2019: 1 Career Total: 1 CDFC Games 2019: 4 CDFC Goals 2019: 0 Votes 2019 Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Memorial Trophy: 142 votes

• VFL clubs will have smaller lists but pools of 19-year-old players next year • A cut to the salary cap and father-son recruiting rule • Stand-alone clubs can sign 40 players next year, down from 45 in 2019, as well as six over-age players from the NAB League. • By 2021 primary lists will be cut to 38 and by 2022 to 36 • The salary cap will also be reduced from $380,000 next year to $350,000 in 2022 • Within two years clubs will be required to pay at least 90 per cent of the payment ceiling. The cap for AFL and AFL-aligned clubs will be $150,000 by 2022. • Each clubs’ development squad of six players will have three players who can play only VFL (Category A) and three who can play in the VFL and NAB League (Category B). • At least one 19-year-old player must be selected in the team each week, in addition to the 23rd player. • Clubs can recruit the Category A 19-year-olds from anywhere but the Category B players must come from a region designated to each club (Box Hill Hawks, for example, has been linked with Eastern Ranges). The youngster impressed in his debut season at senior level and showed great potential. His electric pace is an asset at a club regareded as lacking in players with speed in its arsenal. - Dr Peter Brukner
There is mention in this article: Lions on brink of another golden era Meanwhile, Melbourne’s football department facelift will see Dr Peter Brukner return to the club he worked for in the late 1980s. Demons football boss Josh Mahoney has made mass changes to the club after its disastrous season with former St Kilda coach Alan Richardson and high-priced fitness guru Darren Burgess the big-name signings. Brukner was previously the Australian cricket team’s medico and will also be well known to footy fans through his various media roles. The experienced sports medical expert has held positions at ABC Radio as a boundary rider, SEN and Fox Footy. This year he penned articles for Fairfax. The Demons have farewelled assistant coaches Brendan McCartney, Jade Rawlings and Craig Jennings as part of Mahoney’s revamp.- 2019 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

“He was really on track for a very good season before hurting his knee. He obviously played Round 1 in his first year which was a great start and he had a really good pre-season. He’s got a mature body, he’s a really strong tackler and really good with his contest work. He’s chipping away with his other stuff but showed he can play at AFL level. He had some good VFL form before he hurt his knee, and unfortunately missed the rest of the year. It was disappointing for a first-year player, our highest draft pick, to miss out, because he was on track for a really good season.” - Matt Egan MFC Head of Player Development An update on the first-year Demons Date of Birth: 31 May, 2000 Height: 183 cm Weight: 82 kg Games MFC 2019: 2 Career Total: 2 Goals MFC 2019: 1 Career Total: 1 CDFC Games 2019: 6 CDFC Goals 2019: 0 Votes 2019 Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Memorial Trophy: 11 votes- 2019 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch
The versatile utility grew in stature at the club and played in every game in 2019 across the defence, wing and up forward where he never let the team down.
