AFL clubs are seeking legal advice as to whether they will be required to refund membership fees if games are cancelled due to measures being put in place to control coronavirus. Clubs seek legal advice on membership obligations if coronavirus forces fans out

The problem with this is they can't see what's happening off the ball or down the field and can only commentate on what they see on the screen. For example they won't be able to analyse our forward entries properly because they'll only get half the picture. They'll see the bombing in but they might not be able to tell us what options were available. Not in real time anyway.

I believe they did this during the Marsh Series.

According to Robbo Round 1 might not proceed. AFL planning for Round 1 postponement as coronavirus alarm grows The AFL is preparing for the possibility of a delay to the start of the 2020 season, with boss Gillon McLachlan holding daily briefings on the rapidly-developing coronavirus threat. The AFL is preparing for the worst-case scenario — postponing Round 1 — in the face of the alarming and growing coronavirus. Chief executive Gillon McLachlan is chairing daily emergency briefings with clubs, the government and health groups and the Herald Sun has learnt that, as of Thursday, the AFL couldn’t guarantee next Thursday’s season opener going ahead. “This is not moving by the day, this is moving by the hour,” an AFL source said. “There are some big calls to make.”

Clubs, not the AFL, will bear the brunt of crowd-less games. The AFL's insurance doesn't cover much of the lost revenue, & league putting onus on clubs at this stage. This & more CV fallout for footy. AFL, clubs braced for hit if virus causes lockouts or cancellations

You were at the wrong venue. The Club is being guided by the State and Federal government, as well as the AFL and other relevant health authorities, on how best to protect its people. Based on advice from these bodies, the Club has made the decision to segregate its football programs and has implemented the following changes; The men’s AFL program has been relocated to Casey Fields The women’s AFLW program will have exclusive use of Melbourne’s AAMI Park facilities Melbourne’s VFL affiliate team will use a separate area at Casey Fields Melbourne’s administration will remain at the MCG or work from home

If ever there was an example of money (greed?) taking precedence over public health and safety (even if it's just a potential risk) this is it.

The Victorian Government obviously didn't get this memo re: the Grand Prix.

Just Great!!! Just when the cavalry arrives and we finally get some decent wingmen they want to take them away from us. ‘We don't want to be like soccer’: Alastair Clarkson’s radical solution to fix AFL scoring drought Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson has urged the AFL to “pull a lever” and consider trialling 16-a-side rules to address the league’s dramatic scoring drop – because “we don't want to be like soccer”. And the four-time premiership coach admits he and other coaches with a defence-first attitude have played a role as to why “no bugger can score anymore”. Despite a raft of changes that were originally intended to promote goalkicking, AFL scoring reached a historic low in 2019, with the average team score being just 80.4 points – the lowest since 1967, when teams averaged 78.8 points.
