  1. If we are given the option of SCG and the Gabba I would prefer to take the SCG. It might however become a purely financial decision given the loss of the 800K (Alice Springs) and likely $1 Mil (Queens Birthday). Taking the Gabba gate might just be a case of cutting our financial losses than playing in front of an empty SCG. I doubt the 100s of NSW Dees and those Lions that travel south would even come close to what we could make playing at the Gabba. It was earlier reported that Carlton were offered SCG or Optus Stadium next week to play West Coast and chose SCG. They didn't have the huge financial loss hanging over their heads and they are already in Sydney so why travel into the belly of the beast and play the Eagles on their flat track. They've understandably chosen the SCG. We have a big decision to make. I would at least try to get our next 2 games vs the Lions at the G. We hardly ever seem to play them there.
  2. Let's curb the politics blame game. Not necessarily directed at you but to everyone.
  3. FWIW Tom Browne says we're no chance to play in Alice Springs this week. Sydney the likely venue. Sydney will be a mini hub for a few teams next week.
  4. Buckleys of that happening. We're more likely to get the exemption to play in NT than Brisbane is to FIFO to Melboure or even us to FIFO of QLD. Only way Vic teams will be able to go to QLD will be to hub in NSW for 2 weeks. Surprised Collingwood are half a chance to FIFO of Adelaide next week.
  5. I have not seen that put forward and I doubt it would be an option. Even less so if we were forced to play as a fly in fly out.
  6. Confirmed or just put forward as a possible location?

  9. Melbourne will lose $800,000 from the NT Government if it loses its Alice Springs clash and $1 million-plus if the Queen’s Birthday clash at the MCG in Round 13 is relocated. Demons CEO Gary Pert said on Saturday the alternative was playing in Sydney or Queensland on Friday night. “At this stage it’s more likely to be interstate,” Pert said of the clash, which could cost the Demons $800,000 if not played under a NT sponsorship arrangement.
  10. Not that simple. The players don't live alone. They have wives, children, partners, family and housemates that can't be controlled nor tested regularly. Sure for the moment we're all lockeddown but they're not in "isolation".
  11. That wasn't the case last year. I wouldn't be surprised if we even fly into NSW ASAP to sweeten the deal in any exemption (if it looks possible) from NT.
  12. All depends on the COVID situation in Victoria. If we're still in lockdown and there is a risk of COVID still being in the community the Victorian clubs will be forced on the interstate road so as to minimise the risk of players and staff unwittingly either contract COVID or be put in a situation where they are at a Tier 1 site and then derail the entire season. Just because the games can be played with no crowds minimising community transmission to spectators doesn't account for the risk of players and staff staying in Victoria.
  13. I doubt it would be our decision to be honest and I hope the AFL is flipping the bill for the travel and accommodation.
  14. I would assume there are ongoing behind the scenes negotiations going on. There are announcements left right and centre for other games being announced but nothing in regards to ours as yet with the exception of Sydney being floated as an alternative should we not be allowed into the NT. You'd assume any exemption would require negative COVID test, hub-like isolation and a strict fly in fly out scenario.
  15. Why not do it for the Essendon vs Melbourne match on a Saturday night given Neale's Essendon connection? Edit: Not our home game.
  16. 15 Days. There is no way we go back to crowds straight away. Certainly not 50% in 2 weeks time. I seriously doubt there will be any crowds at that stage not even 25% even if we are out of Lockdown. I posed the question in another thread but where would you prefer this game be played? At the G with no crowd or interstate with some crowd and gate takings? I doubt we will be given the QB home game next year again.
  17. Given it appears all Victorian teams will be taking the show on the interstate road it's likely we'll play QB at an interstate venue in 15 days time. Would you prefer to play QB at the G with no crowds and no gate or at the SCG or some other interstate venue and take some gate?
  18. Would you prefer to fly in and out of Alice Springs (if permitted by NT) or hub in Sydney (meaning better preparation) for the Lions match? I put it that way because if we are allowed to play in the Alice it would likely be a fly in fly out situation like we did in Cairns. However if we hub for a week or two in Sydney and play at the SCG or Giants then our preparation is more settled.
  19. It’s 15 days so 2 weeks tomorrow. I simply cannot see lockdown ending this Thursday and things just going back to the way they were straight away.
