Long, dark tunnel

I hadn't heard of these tunnels in the Vietnam war before. It's a real pity his story was only told because his son is an AFL footballer. There must be thousands of other stories like this out there.

I cannot imagine how hard that would have been. To work in the field in such a way would really scar your mind.

I always though Chopper Carroll was a hard man, I understand now where he gets it from.

I used to shoot for a pistol club called 3rd Military District which was based at Pucka, it was an army club and most of the members were retired army personal, alot of them were involved in the Vietnam war. I've heard dozens of stories like this, and listening to every one of them is a sobering experience that reinforces how lucky we are not to have lived through these experiences.

It must've been very hard for a young boy/man to grow up in a situation like that without the support of his father. Kudos to Nathan for making it so far and today being one of our on-field leaders and backline stalwarts. I'm sure his father is as proud as ever.
