Whelan offered one-week suspension

Well I'l lbe a lone gun here.. to be quite frank I havent been that impressed by Wheels this year. Felt he got back in more on reputation and the lack of choices that any really good form. I obviously must have been watching a different MAtt at TBO to some. and it really doesnt surprise me that he did a dumb thing as his normal level of accountability ( which I will add is high ) simply seemed missing.

Whether it is a a result of less than 100 % fitness.. .or injury.. or whatever to me he seems only about 80% there.. maybe this in itself is frustrating Wheels.

I know he is far more capable than that and hope he actually uses the 'rest' to calm down a bit and focus. We could certainly use the 'real' Wheels down back.

I think Whelan has been struggling for the past 2 to 3 years. I would not be surprised if this year is his last.

Im thinking your absolutely right here RR . I think its his last too.

odd that we wouldn't argue against "intentional" especially after fevola had just tried to hit wheels anyway

Fev seemed to be having a day out all round....still cnt work out how that very early pass to Judd wasnt deemed OOB !!

just one of those days <_<

i'll say! Now we get to go interstate where it's always "one of those days" before the game even starts...why did i get non refundable flights

From MELBOURNEfc this morning:

MELBOURNEfc’s Matthew Whelan will accept a one match suspension with an early guilty plea for striking Brendan Fevola, Carlton, during the third quarter of the Round Five match between Melbourne and Carlton, played at the MCG on Sunday April 20, 2008.

I just saw the replay yesterday and it was as weak as [censored]. There was nothing in it.

Xavier Clarke gets knocked out and no action is taken but a weak as [censored] push/punch gets rubbed out.

There was nothing in it. Can't believe MFC didn't fight the charge, again. Are we that short of cash?

When you consider some of the charges that others have had reviewed or dismissed ..by say Syd..etc.. it annoys me that the club seems so bloody impotent. Very disappointed.

case in point, Adam Goodes runs up behind Godfrey off the ball and purposely hits him in the stomach, forcing him to the ground, not even one game.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
