Win vs Bulldogs last year the most costly in the clubs history

Featured Replies

Carltank will win more than 5. They will beat us twice, and will rack up wins against sub par teams like freo. Tiggies and Blues also have to play each other, so that always helps.

Tigers are 2-2, and have not played us.

My money is on the tiges and blues winning 5 or more games. Tiges will romp it in. On current form we will get pick 1 unless Port tanks against us. I also think we will get a priority.

So that means 3 top 20 picks again.

Lets hope we use them wisely.

An earlier post alluded to the new teams soaking up the good picks so that makes it all the more important to pick well. No trading out picks - just using them on kids.

Id say we will go into the draft with picks 1, 17 and 18

Trade Bruce for a pick in the 10-20 range, and perhaps a Brock Mclean for a pick in the 7-10 range

That would give us 5 picks in the first 18. Great way to set us up for the future

I'll bet you anything you like, Money, women, my nextdoor neighbors property, anything , that Carltank won't beat us more than once this H&A season. <_<

Melbourne should have won 8-9 games last year with the amount of 1-10 pt losses we had. What about when we lost to the bulldogs when we were leading and had just kicked a goal with 30 second to go. How about against north when we had the ball in our hands with 30 seconds to go and leading.

If anything, it wouldv been unfair if we had gotten the priority pick and we didn't deserve it

I think our biggest threat are the Bombers. They arent much chop.

They've got 2 wins already and can play good enough football to win 3 more. No way they'll do that badly. I reckon Freo might do much worse than them.

That may be true sylvinator, but the fact is you have to take your opportunities. From the heartache, something good could have come and that would have been an extra pick in the top 20 last year and a potential pick 1 and 2 this year instead of a potential 1 and 17.

We stuffed it up by appointing Riley. He wanted to win games and that's fair enough, he wanted to push his name forward as a senior coach. But if we appointed someone who we knew would be at the club next year and would agree to playing a young inexperienced side, then we probably wouldn't have knocked off the Doggies, leaving us with 4 wins. Riley played his best possible side. Which other club would do that in such a situation? None.

You think we're that good a team then, that now we can do without our 1st pick from last year?

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
