state of origin

Just an idea to revive a comp i used to love.

There are 3 w/ends prior to grand final week.

2 games played first week b/n allies, vic, sa and wa.

The two winners play off in a f/nites time.

Players to be picked outside the competing finalists teams.

Games can be played anywhere in the country; cities where finals are not being played.

As teams are eliminated more players become available.

This time of year gives the longest recovery time available before the next season.

Also enhances the final series, keeps the whole country more interested in the footy.

Could be played every odd year.

The afl should give compensation to clubs whos players get injured.

Critisise away, just don't get personel.

State of Origin to a national game like AFL these days is as relevant as the place kick.

In regard to your idea. Well done for thinking outside the square. However, I dont like it as it firstly draws attention away from the AFL Finals (AFL will not want that and I would agree with that view). SOO teams will be made up of players of the not so good sides and that time of year many of the sides are the walking wounded by the end of August Many players opt to have their various medical operations to repair nagging injuries in time for the next season pre season. I also share Nashers views on the Allies. A SOO series has about about as much importance as the failed Irish hybrid series.

And in regard to your idea, if their are two WA, two SA, Sydney and Brisbane in the finals you will barely scrape enough fit players together from the other sides to form an Allies cricket XI.

No thanks.

I mistakenly read the thread title as "state of a groin"
