Here's a topic to rile all those Godfrey bashers out there.

If we had Godfrey in the team last night we would have WON easily. :o

Hopefully some of you out there can have and appreciation of what he does when he is NOT there.

I dare say that Colling$%^& would not have waltzed away from the stoppages quite so easily in the first half. Nor would his opponent, probably Burns or Swan, have as much of an influence.

He is to stopping an opponent, chasing, gut running and putting his body on the line what TJ is to being creative and hitting a target in the corridor.

Both are extremely valuable to the TEAM; it's just unfortunate that players with both attributes don't come around more often.

GO GODDERS - See you next season.

well.. I wouldnt carte blanche endorse this idea that it would have been a Monty should Gods have played. But it might well have been at least half way towards the difference between winning and losing.

Gods is quite acccountable at keeping his target close...something many others in red and blue could learn. He is far from teh worst at hitting a target coming off the half back line ( many will argue against this...but Id like them to show me proof ). He never gives up...you dont see GODS standing around watching others !!

Could have been a very handy player last night.

Still its all supposition , had he been fit he would have played, we'll never know. :)

While he still has some shocking clangers, I think Godfrey's disposal has improved somewhat.

However, the fact that you label him 'far from the worst at hitting a target...' is hardly glowing praise, all things considered ;)

I would say oh for a bartram or a ling or a some one who can do a job but also use the ball.

His last 3 games against Sydney, Port and the Kangaroos were terrible even if he was fit his form didn't warrant being selected. As long as players like Godfrey get a game we will continue to struggle he must be delisted he continuely let's the club down. He is not up to AFL standards and would get a game for any other club. For a noted tagger his opponents usually get the ball far too often. Looking forward to Bartram taking over his spot, Bartram has the pace to keep up with the best Godfrey doesn't we would be better off getting the kids through instead of going for quick fixers like Godfrey.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
