He was a terrible defender who lost confidence and got beaten so often, not everyone can defend and you cant always make them better and Windsor got worse as the year went on. But not only that we stifled any growth and advancement in his second year where we needed players who could move the ball better into the f50.
Holmes played more HBF because he wasnt good enough to play in the mid, now they move him there for short bursts to break a tag.

So he was a terrible defender who was played in defense to....... i don't know......maybe learn how to defend.

Sounds like coaching 101.

Try to look past what's right in front of you.

You can learn to defend anywhere on the ground. Being an actual defender is a totally different thing. And not everyone is cut out to be one. Windsor will be a very good player but will never be a good defender. He can learn to defend in training but stop wasting him on a HBF.

This might sound kinda corny.... Max ,Disco and Ed were running tests along the boundary ( well so were McAdam, Maysie, Mathews lol )

On one occasion as Max was awaiting his go I threw out the question to him.. "So Max, are you looking forward to next season? " .. now I know its a dime a dozen question from a 'random' but his reply was instant and I think totally genuine....

With a big smile, huge glint in his eyes and and a thumbs up thrusted my way ... YES !!!

So there you have it ...all bodes well for 26

Can't wait actually.... been a long while tbh.

There was an industrious vibe out there... a bit of fun ... but definitely a sense of purpose.

We aren't playing 26 to make up the numbers... no by any stretch of the imagination. We're going to play some good footy ( maybe patches of average too ) but there were , even now, indicators that Kingy and Co are first excising the things that didn't work and slowly adding things that should.

Go Dees

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
